Bakalářská práce "Ronald Reagan a jeho příspěvek k pádu SSSR- americká pomoc protisovětským silám v Angole a Afghánistánu v 80. letech" popisuje roli, kterou Reaganova administrativa sehrála v podpoře afghánských mudžahedínů a angolského hnutí UNITA. Zaměřuje se na americkou finanční a materiální podporu oběma skupinám, a na politické aktéry, kteří měli vliv na rozhodování o dodávkách pomoci. Mimo Reagana se jedná o ředitele CIA William Caseyho, kongresmana Charlese Wilsona, Chestera Crockera a další. Konflikty v Angole a Afghánistánu jsou zasazeny do historického kontextu, ve kterém jsou objasněny příčiny těchto válek. Rovněž je v něm popsáno zapojení SSSR a USA do dění v Afghánistánu a Angole před Reaganovým prezidentstvím. Okrajově jsou zmíněni také další významní účastníci obou konfliktů. V případě války v Afghánistánu se jedná o Pákistán a jeho zpravodajskou službu ISI. V případě Angoly jde o Jihoafrickou republiku a Kubu. Práce také popisuje, jakou úlohu Sovětský svaz v obou válkách hrál. Charakterizuje angažování SSSR v Afghánistánu před válkou, její průběh, Gorbačovův pohled na ni, lidské a finanční ztráty Sovětů ve válce. V případě Angoly práce popisuje sovětskou pomoc a vojenskou asistenci hnutí MPLA, které bojovalo s organizací UNITA. V závěru práce je analyzováno, jaký dopad měla... Thesis 'Ronald Reagan and his Contribution to the Collapse of the Soviet Union - U.S. Support to Anti-Soviet Forces in Angola and Afghanistan in the 1980s' describes the role played by the Reagan administration in the process of aiding the Afghan mujahideen and the Angolan movement UNITA. It focuses on the American financial and material support to the both groups. It also mentions political actors, who shared responsibility for aiding mujahideen and UNITA. These include the Director of the CIA William Casey, congressman Charles Wilson, the Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Chester Crocker and others. Conflicts in Afghanistan and Angola are put into historical context, in which causes of these wars are explained. USA and USSR involvement in Afghanistan and Angola prior to the Reagan's presidency is also described. Another important participants of the both conflicts are mentioned too. In the case of Afghanistan it is Pakistan and its intelligence agency ISI. In the case of Angola it is the South African Republic and Cuba. The thesis describes Soviet engagement in Afghanistan prior to the war, course of the war, Gorbachev's view on the war and Soviet casualties and financial losses.
