Tato práce se věnuje alternativním způsobům výslovnosti jednotlivých slov v rámci standardní angličtiny. Nezabývá se tedy primárně regionálními a národnostními dialekty. Teoreticky popisuje příčiny vzniku těchto dalších možných způsobů uznávané výslovnosti tak, jak souvisí s historickými událostmi na Britských ostrovech a dalšími okolnostmi provázejícími tento jev. Nezabývá se tedy psanou formou jazyka. Praktická část je pak tvořena slovníkem frekventovaných slov každodenní mluvy s výčtem jejich možných způsobů výslovnosti. Celá práce předpokládá základní znalosti fonetické terminologie a problematiky, především znalost mluvícího ústrojí a způsoby tvoření hlásek a souhlásek. This thesis focuses on alternative pronunciation of English words within standard English and does not deal with regional or national dialects. In the theoretical part causes of existence of alternative pronunciation are explained together with the historical events on the British islands and other phenomena related to the topic. The written form of the English language is not dealt with. The practical part of this thesis contains a vocabulary with of commonly used words and their possible pronunciations. Complete understanding of the thesis presupposes reader?s familiarity with the terminology of phonetics.
