Abstract: In this study, the influence of in- and out- of plane constraints on behaviour of crack under mode – I loading condition is studied. For the experimental program compact tension (CT) and three point bending (3PB) specimens of aluminium alloy 2024 with different thicknesses were tested. The experimental results obtained for mentioned specimens are compared and discussed from the point of view of constraint effects.
