Desiccation tolerance of Sphagnum species (mature shoots and protonemata) was studied in detail. Their ability to harden (e.g. induce desiccation tolerance) was tested in field and laboratory experiments focusing on the effect of slow drying, abscisic acid and cold and freezing temperatures. Tolerance rašeliníků k vysychání byla podrobně studována u lodyžek a protonemat. Scgopnost rašeliníků indukovat si toleranci k vysychání byla testována v terénních a laboratorních experimentech se zaměřením na efekt pomalého vysychání, kyseliny abscisové, chladu a mrazu.
