The aim of this thesis is to determine how the workplace behavior and job performance of workers changes within groups, and to examine the effect of informal relationships upon worker motivation, and thus upon individual performance. This essay also deals with the theme of teamwork and its apparent role in increasing the potential of informal relationships. The practical section is devoted to a sociometric investigation which examines the structure of relationships within the workplace. The results are transmitted in the form of matrices and sociograms. The actual sociometric survey is supplemented by information obtained from a questionnaire survey of the organization, which examines the quality of relationships in the workplace, and the impact of these relationships on the larger theme of job performance.
