Cílem této práce je zanalyzovat role a funkce předsednictví a zároveň ukázat vývoj jeho významu a pravomocí na příkladu Francie v kontextu jejích dvanácti předsednictví. Práce se tedy zabývá jak teoretickým vymezením funkce předsednictví, tak konkrétními příklady francouzských předsednictví od roku 1959 do roku 2008 s cílem vysledovat základní priority Francie ve vývoji evropské integrace. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the role and functions of the presidency and to demonstrate the development of its importance and competence on the example of France in the context of its twelve presidencies. The thesis is composed of the theoretical part describing the functions of the presidency and then an example of France and its presidencies from 1959 to 2008 is given to trace up the basic priorities of France in the process of development of European integration.
