Centrum pro výzkum veřejného mínění v lednovém šetření zjišťovalo, jaký je postoj občanů k ústavním pravomocím prezidenta republiky. Tématem otázek byl jak obecný názor na rozsah ústavních pravomocí prezidenta, tak názory na některé konkrétní pravomoci, jakými jsou udělování amnestie, zastavování soudního řízení, rozpuštění poslanecké sněmovny, používání práva veta, jmenování bankovní rady České národní banky a jmenování soudců Ústavního soudu. Otázky sledují vývoj veřejného mínění v časovém horizontu posledních 10 let. According to the January survey of CVVM, 58 % of the Czech public agree with the current range of presidential competencies, 20 % would welcome their enlargement, 17 % would narrow them down. CVVM also asked questions about several particular presidential competencies such as granting of amnesty, stopping a lawsuit, dismissing the Chamber of Deputies and furthermore about the competence of president to refuse the law passed by the parliament and about his or her role in appointing the board of the Czech National Bank and in appointing the judges of the Constitutional Court.
