Political Systems and its teaching in civics at elementary school.
Rund, David ; Dvořáková, Michaela (advisor) ; Stracený, Josef (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the political systems and its tuition at elementary school. In the theoretical part of the text, the historical development of the idea of democracy in ancient Greece and Rome, the development of parliamentarism in the UK and the expansion of political rights in Europe are announced to the reader. The importance of this development is considerable, as it forms the basis of democratic political institutions that are the core of this thesis. The rest of the theoretical part is dedicated to the undemocratic regimes. It deals with the development of these regimes and its theoretical definition against the democratical one. All of these undemocratic regimes are presented on examples of existing or collapsed states. The practical part of my thesis is dedicated to the tuition of political systems in Framework Educational Program which is presented in the subject Education on Citizenship and the cross-cutting theme Education of Democratic Citizen. Use of Mixed-Member Electoral Systems: Examples of Bolivia, Germany, New Zealand
Hoferek, Jan ; Höfer, Karel (advisor) ; Švec, Kamil (referee)
The aim of this Bachelor's thesis is to analyse and compare mixed-member electoral systems and their consequences in cases of Bolivia, Germany and New Zealand. The text is divided into three chapters. The first chapter introduces mixed-member electoral systems in general, existing research in this area, main variables of mixed-member electoral systems, and their key typologies by Massicote & Blaise and Shugart & Wattenberg. In the second chapter, causes of electoral reforms, their circumstances, main actors and their preferences are analysed. The description of individual cases is followed by cross-comparison. The final chapter concerns itself with the consequences of electoral reforms and their influence on party and political systems, as well as with changes in the candidate selection process or their individual characteristics. The description is also followed by comparison among researched countries. The main focus of this comparison is on selected characteristics of political systems: volatility, voter turnout, disproportionality and effective number of parliamentary parties. These are calculated with established statistical tools: Gallagher index, Pedersen index and Laakso-Taagepera index.

Voter Perception of the Electoral System for Local Elections
Palkosková, Lucie ; Jüptner, Petr (advisor) ; Trávníček, Matěj (referee)
1 Abstract This paper tries to demonstrate an incorrect perception of the Czech municipal electoral system by voters. In order achieve this aim I identified the following research questions. Firstly, what is the perception of preferential voting by voters in the Czech local electoral system? Secondly, do voters use a strategic voting in the municipal elections? Thirdly, is there some influence on voters' decisions depending on the form of a candidate subject? These questions were answered on the basis of my own research, which took place in a chosen municipality. I showed that voters perceive preferential voting by the wrong way, which primarily comes from their low awareness of the electoral system. Furthermore, it was found that the different perception of the candidates affects a voter behavior. Unfortunately, whether voters use a strategically choice in municipal elections, I could not prove it.

MATIKO, Nataliya
In the first part of thesis I focus on defining the concept of the electoral system. I describe the basic division and classification. Next part gives quantitative research about the effects of electoral systems using Duvergian Agenda and proportionality. In the last part I create a worksheet. I point out the changes in the number of mandates in the using of another electoral divisor than is usual in the Czech Republic.
