Transformation of social services and the perception of the impact of the transformation from the perspective of clients, workers and guardians

1 Abstract This work concentrates on transformation of social services, in other words, it focuses on the possibilities of disabled clients in the transition from institutional care to support provided within a community. The aim of the thesis is a deeper insight into the organization, which already deals with the above described transformation and evaluation of the positives or negatives of this process. This work has also an ambition to be at the same time a tool for those who are preparing for the transformation process and may have concerns or inadequate expectation from the planned changes. This text also evaluates the impact of transformation on the quality of life of the handicapped and the degree of gaining of independence by a subjective view of the client, five years after the beginning of the changes, and completion of the perception of these impacts by the guardian and the staff of the organization. Reintegration of people after alcohol treatment into daily life

This diploma thesis deals with an issue of treatment of alcohol dependence and the process of social inclusion of people who have undergone this process. The thesis provides an overview of services and other forms of assistance that are targeted at this group. Attention is paid mainly to the current set-up of the services and assistance system to identify strong and weak aspects of the system. The work is based on a qualitative research. The research was conducted throught expert interviews and interviews with users of these services. Theoretical basis of the work is the ethiology of addiction, which offers various explanations of the origin and persistence of the problem of alcohol dependence. The work also uses the findings of the life course perspective, which allows to map the life trajectories of the interviewees, including the recognition of key events in their lives affecting the emergence and development of addicton. The last theoretical starting point of the work is the concept of social inclusion.
The private retirement homes in the system of social care in the Czech Republic.

The diploma thesis is focused on the ambiguous position of private retirement homes in terms of view of legislative anchoring, public funding, management, operation and quality standards. It also identifies problematic areas of private retirement homes, which is not well described phenomenon in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part deals with the concept of Public Private Partnership. The factual background develops in detail the situation of private retirement homes in the Czech Republic. The aim of this thesis is to find out how the legislative conditions are set to Czech private retirement home's financing, establishing and management. Another aim is to find out the differences between public and private retirement homes and to identify potential problem areas.
Planning care for clients with Alzheimer's disease in the Hradec Králové region

The theme of the thesis is the issue of planning social services for people affected by Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia in the territory of the Hradec Králové region. Alzheimer's disease is among the most common causes of dementia, and the number of patients with the disease continues to grow. It is the increase in the number of clients with the disease that creates a new challenge to ensure the availability of social services, so that an individual approach is maintained in view of the patients' specific needs. The thesis contains a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part briefly describes the clinical picture of Alzheimer's disease. Furthermore, this section focuses on the incidence of dementia both globally and in the territory of Europe. Some organisations and strategic documents dedicated to supporting and caring for those with dementia in the territories of France, Sweden and Switzerland are listed in this section. There is also a chapter that gives an idea of individual types and forms of care for clients with dementia manifestations in the Czech Republic. The impact of change in funding of social services on the integration of Roma, the perspective of NGO - Case study Romodrom, o. p. s.

This dissertation covers the impact of changes in the transition of the financing system of social services from the Ministry of Social Affairs to local regions. This phase of the transition is assested from the point of view of the current state of cooperation between non governmental organizations (NGO)s and governmnetal institutions. The sample region selected for this work is Stredocesky region and the evaluation of this change was done in the context of providing social services aimed on integration of Roma into the society. The theoretical part of this dissertation is concerned with the relationship of the state with the NGOs. Further financing of social services, the history up until the current situation of the state of the process of integration of Romes into Czech Republic is outlined in this work. This work evaluates a case study of Romodrom o. p. s., an organization providing social services for individuals, who are on the edge of exclusion from the society or are impacted by an unfortunate life situation. Effect of motivation on employee turnover in non-profit organizations focused on social care

The diploma thesis connects two different areas, namely the non-profit sector with the human resources management policy, which in the past has been particularly important in the profit sector. Nowadays, a number of non-profit organizations have undergone a process of professionalization, thereby narrowing the boundary between the profit and non-profit sectors and paying employees an important part of non-profit organizations. The diploma thesis deals with non-profit organizations in the area of social care provision, which are part of the whole social service in the Czech Republic, based on legislation. One of the goals of the work is to look at the reasons why employees leave non-profit organizations focused on social care and also what types of motivational employee benefits they use to prevent unwanted fluctuations in their employees. Chapter of the Czechoslovak Red Cross History (1945 - 1952)

The thesis is dedicated to the history of the Czechoslovak Red Cross (CSRC) organization, especially to the period 1945 - 1952. The CSRC carried out valuable activities between 1945 and 1948 not only in the medical field, but also in social services. Training of caregivers and voluntary nurses, establishing and operating medical facilities or searching for missing individuals due to WWII can be listed among others. A particular phase of CSRC history started after February 1948 Coup, when it slowly transformed into voluntary organization of the National Front. Speech Therapy for Seniors in Residential Care

1 ABSTRACT The topic of this bachelor thesis is speech therapy for seniors in residential care. The thesis is divided into four chapters, which include both theory and empirical research. The theoretical part contains information about age and aging, various acquired neurologic speech and language disorders and available social services for the elderly in the Czech Republic. The practical part of the thesis is based on quantitative methodology, a questionnaire survey with the aim to determine whether speech therapy care is provided in nursing homes for seniors in the capital city of Prague as a part of comprehensive services. The analysis of many Czech and foreign resources was used in both parts of this thesis. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to compare the theoretical background with the practical implementation of speech therapy care in residential facilities for the elderly. Respite services for children with health disability
The aim of the present BA thesis is to analyse the significance and benefits of respite care from caregiver parents´point of view. Firstly, the theoretical part gives an overview of key terms and terminology. Secondly, disabilities are thoroughly analyzed and explained in detail. Following chapters deal with caregiver families of disabled children. Next, social services in general are presented. Special attention is paid to describing respite care that is the primary point of focus of this thesis. A series of semi-structured interviews was used to collect data for the qualitative research part of the thesis. Caregiver families that visit respite care centres were selected to conduct the interviews with some of them currently receiving the services of such centres while others are not. A total of seven families were interviewed, all of whom have been attending respite care centre run by Auticentrum Charity in České Budějovice. Five out of seven families are currently receiving respite care while the remaining two are not. The thesis can be used as valuable resource for studies. Furthermore, it might also give feedback for people with jobs in respite care sector, caregiver parents and for respite care organizations as well. The author of this thesis is aware that looking after disabled person is a difficult job. The aim of the author was to collect as much information and data from the parents and find out about the scope of respite care they are receiving. The data that was collected is meant to be freely available to other families. The research concluded that there is a great demand for respite care among those families. Currently, the demand for respite care is far higher than the options and capacity available.
