Home should be a place where I live, where I feel safe, where I have privacy, where I can always return and like to return. It is my refuge from which I go out into the world every day. At home, I will find comfort, warmth, love, respect, understanding ... Having a home has been one of the basic needs of every human being since the beginning of humanity. It is possible to lead a full life only if it is fulfilled not only but also of this need. The analytical part of the work deals with the possibilities, needs and requirements of people for housing from the age of 60 and their application in architecture. The design of a residential building not only for seniors in the facility is part of the practical part. Combining several generations and functions in one place supports the creation of interpersonal relationships and the integration of seniors into society. In the building, there is a facility for the elderly connected with daycare for seniors, a dining room and a pensioners' club in connection with general rental flats for young families. The project is proposed for the municipality of Važec, located in the district of Liptovský Mikuláš in Slovakia.
Media literacy of current Czech senior citizens: a case study from Brno

The following master's thesis deals with the issue of media literacy in relation to elderly population. The theoretical basis of this work contains of the theory of media literacy and media education, which is regarded to as a tool for cultivating media literacy. In addition to media education, the work also presents other ways to acquire media competencies, which are so needed in today's information society. After the introduction of theoretical approaches to media literacy, there is also a description of selected methods applied to determine the level of media literacy. The next part includes a description of media literacy in relation to senior citizens who form a very specific group in this area. As part of my own research survey, the level of media literacy in a group of 12 senior citizens is mapped on the basis of a proposed tool for determining the level of media literacy, which is based on the presented theoretical approaches. Social Policy Failure in Relation to Long-Term Care for the Elderly in Residential Facilities in the Czech Republic

The need for all-day care for the elderly will be increasing, taking into consideration the future demographic development of the population. The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to identify obstacles that impede the development of residential social care services for seniors in the Czech Republic which provide long-term care. There is an unsatisfied demand for them in the Czech environment lasting for many years. The thesis also focuses on detecting the systemic problems of long-term care policy in the Czech Republic and outlines possible recommendations or solutions for the future. The conceptual and theoretical framework of the thesis consists of a description of the concept of deinstitutionalization from the perspective of the theory of institutional change, a description of the concept of long-term care and typology of long-term care systems. The thematic analysis of the transcriptions of expert interviews and secondary documents tended to meet the research aims. The basic findings from the practical part of the work illustrate that the current system of long-term care for the elderly in the Czech Republic is inconvenient and requires several changes. Seniors in the mediated society

The diploma thesis deals with the relationship between seniors and new media, focusing on the current media impact on society and the increasing interest in a media literacy courses for the seniors. The main goal of this work is to capture experiences and opinions of seniors on the use of new media and to point out the benefits of active aging, which seniors can gain through their safe use. The theoretical part of the thesis first focuses on key concepts that reflects the current shape of the old age and the aging process, the position of the media in society and the specific relationship between seniors and new media with reference to the current media literacy programs. The qualitative part of the research reflects attitudes, opinions and experience of seniors using new information and communication technologies through semi-structured in- depth interviews. These findings are analyzed in seven subchapters, which are based on the interviews. Due to the changing attitudes of seniors and the complex generalization of this category, the work can outline their insight into the use of new media and could also be used as a groundwork for further research of this issue.
The influence of alcohol on memory in the elderly

Title: The influence of alcohol on memory in the elderly Objectives: To estimate association between alcohol consumption and memory in the elderly above 60 years of age. Methods: The master's thesis is a cross-sectional study. All data were acquired from the Survey of Health Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) project. For the purpose of this research, the participants were divided into four categories according to the highest acquired level of their education. For data analysis, Kruskal-Wallis Test and Mann-Whitney U test with Bonferoni's correction for post - hoc analysis were employed. The testing of participants involved immediate and delayed recall of 10 words. Results: In this research, a total of 36 534 participants were used. Out of this, 20 389 were females and 16 145 were males. In most categories, there were statistically significant differences in both tests, surprisingly preferring alcohol consumption (p<0.001). In males, who had problems with alcohol abuse during their life, the results of both tests were significantly worse (p<0.001). Integrity in seniors

This diploma thesis was focused on the study of integrity, its aspects, forms and resources in seniors, which we have identified as persons with a high degree of integrity based on established criteria. The aim of this work was to capture and understand the unique life experience of these seniors. The work consists of a theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part consists of explanation of concepts of integrity and old age, in particular we focus on Erikson's conception of integrity and concept of successful aging. The empirical part consists of qualitative research aimed at finding sources and manifestations of integrity in three unique life stories of seniors aged 75-91. We obtained data for our research in a home for the elderly through semi-structured interviews, which we then analyzed using the method of interpretative phenomenological analysis. The results are presented from two perspectives. The first is an analysis of the experience of individual seniors, the second represents the perspective of themes that are important for integrity and appeared in most of our respondents. These themes are: Activity, Moral Integrity, Trust - Acceptance - Surrender, Ways of Living, Modesty, Relationship Orientation and Spirituality. Educational and activating activities of seniors in long-term care facilities in the Pilsen Region

Diploma thesis "Educational and activating activities of seniors in long-term care facilities in the Pilsen Region" in the theoretical part is devoted to the definition of old age and related aspects from the biological, psychological and social point of view. The thesis also deals with education and activation of seniors in the context of applied science discipline and organization in the Czech Republic within the framework of lifelong learning. Aspects of educational activities of seniors and specifics of their education and activation are also identified. The thesis also describes the best-known methods and techniques of seniors activation in long-term care facilities. In the empirical part, a questionnaire survey was carried out, in which the respondents were clients of retirement homes and patients of specialized hospital wards providing care to geriatric patients. At the same time, standardized interviews were conducted with workers who organize, secure or participate in activities focused on education and activation of their clients or patients. Analysis of trends in mass media production based on the example of evolutiion of the elderly representation and framing in selected Czech daily newspaper

The diploma thesis is focused on content trends in the Czech national daily press examined on an example of evolution of media framing of the elderly. It is based on a premise of mass media having a role in the social construction of reality by presenting certain agenda and frames. The aim of the thesis is then to study stereotypization and tabloidization in the evolution of elderly media framing in the last 20 years and to analyze whether the titles are heading towards content diversity, quality and equality or rather towards stereotyped and tabloid-like manner of informing their audience. In the theoretical part, two trends of stereotypization and tabloidization are defined and operational approaches are explained. Also, the topic of elderly, their characteristics and current issues and research of their media representations, is covered. Empirical research in the second part consists of a quantitative content analysis of relevant media articles about the elderly during years 1998, 2008, 2018. On the level of a thematic structure, the results show a long-term orientation on few and stereotyped frames of politics, economics and crime.
