Stochastic dynamics and thermodynamics in nonequilibrium steady states
Berestneva, Ekaterina ; Ryabov, Artem (advisor) ; Novotný, Tomáš (referee)
In this thesis we study two stochastic models related to operation of a molecular mo- tor. The first is a Brownian particle moving under the action of the highly unstable potential. It can describe fast processes related to individual steps of the motor. We study statistics of trajectories that by chance avoid the unstable region and do not diverge up to a long time. Conditioning on nondivergence gives rise to an effective force, which keeps the particles in the stable area of the potential. We present two stationary distributions which formally resemble the Gibbs canonical distribution with effective potentials and derive asymptotic behaviors of these potentials. The se- cond is the minimal discrete model of the Feynman-Smoluchowski ratchet coupled to two thermal reservoirs. We investigate stationary values of the average steady state currents, activities, and motor efficiency. For the ratchet we construct the driven processes representing mean quantities conditioned on fluctuations of entropy production and show how the entropy production affects mean probability currents and activity. 1
Analysis of Media Image of Procrastination as a New Type of Discourse of Work in Czechia
Špaček, Martin ; Jirák, Jan (advisor) ; Soukup, Martin (referee)
This master's thesis presents an analysis of the discourse of procrastination in the Czech media, with a special focus on contemporary discourse of work. Procrastination was for long an unknown phenomenon in the Czech Republic, but a few years ago it was possible to notice that it was fast entering people's active vocabularies, and that media articles, indeed whole books, on it were starting to appear. The aim of this thesis is to present, using the example of procrastination, the dynamics of possible forms and transformations of a given media image in selected Czech periodicals between 1.1.1995 and 31.12.2014. The analysis uses the discourse analysis method, as put forward by Norman Fairclough, and for the purposes of interpretation it uses above all critical theories of contemporary work. The media image in the analytical part is described first of all according to the stratification and characterisation of individual texts. Subsequently, the work analyses the structure of these texts, postulating the thesis that the discourse of procrastination comprises various structural elements. In the next part, in a discourse analysis of procrastination, these elements are presented using relevant extracts from the texts. In this part the work also looks at the intertextuality of the texts, the potential...
Digital Nomadism: The Instinct of Wandering in Contemporary Society
Volfová, Kristýna ; Halbich, Marek (advisor) ; Heřmanová, Marie (referee)
Recent estimates suggest that there are currently around 4.8 million people who consider themselves to be digital nomads. They are widely depicted in the media, most often as young professionals who successfully combine work, leisure and travel into one holistic lifestyle. Despite this significant presence in today's popular culture, from a research point of view, digital nomadism is almost unexplored phenomenon. Therefore, the aim of this work is the analysis and interpretation of the phenomenon of digital nomadism, not only through my own ethnographic research and reflection, but also in terms of current theoretical concepts in anthropology of tourism and mobility. The research itself focuses mainly on selected aspects often associated with digital nomadism in the mainstream media, and how informants reflect them. I deal with aspects such as the blurred boundaries between work and leisure, mobility slowdown, the origin of co-working spaces, the concept of freedom and, last but not least, the social changes that have led to the global expansion of this phenomenon. Keywords: digital nomadism, anthropology of tourism, mobility, travelling, digital technologies, work
Ethical aspects of work as a long-term human commitment

Unemployment and employment policy in Prag - west with special attention to people with disabilities
Ferencová, Miluše ; Tichá, Milena (advisor) ; Stracený, Josef (referee)
The thesis deals with unemployment and employment policy in general and in the Prague- West region. Particular attention is paid to the issue of unemployment of persons with disabilities - in all regions of the Czech Republic these persons have lower chances of employment, I suppose that in the Prague-West region, although it is one of the regions with the lowest unemployment rate in the Czech Republic, this situation will be the same. The aim of the thesis is to describe the development of unemployment and the development of unemployment among people with disabilities in Prague-West in the years 2006 - 2016 and describe the employment policy in general and in the mentioned region. The labor market in the Prague-West region is significantly influenced by the proximity of the capital city of Prague. At the beginning of the period under review, the situation on the labor market was stabilized and there were no major fluctuations. Unemployment was low in 2006 - 2008, the situation changed with the arrival of the economic crisis in 2009, unemployment increased and increased in the following years, from 2015 until the end of the monitored period unemployment in Prague-West started to decline. The thesis deals with the problems of unemployment and mentions consequences of loss of a job. It introduces the development of unemployment, labour market policy and focuses on social policy in the area of support for people in material need which is connected with involvement in community service. This thesis also tries to introduce the application of community services in the Děčín region in a complex way. In the practical part the author makes a survey and compares evaluation of community services in four categories. The four categories comprise job centre employees who offer community services, organizers of community services, those who do community services and unemployed people who refuse...
Digital platforms and its impact on labor law
Konečný, Adam ; Tomšej, Jakub (advisor) ; Štefko, Martin (referee)
This thesis provides an analysis of digital platforms and its impact on labour law and related work patterns in general. The main focus is upon description of caused problems and their possible solutions whereas the question of worker's status in the platform economy and its arrangements is predominantly discussed. The introduction leads the reader to general description of digital platforms and its three main subsets (crowdsourcing, on deman work and passenger transport services). For a better undestanding the thesis further gives an idea of working conditions by analysing each working stage affected by platforms. After these initial introductory findings the thesis focuses on potential problems. The possible problems are first being described in general and then discussed from the practical point of view as they were already seen by various courts in the past. The sole analysis of courts decision is rather extensive since the three chosen decisions not only give us answers to some problematic questions but they also provide highly beneficial info about platforms in general and their business models as well. Finally, after the thesis is done with court decisions it continues to analyze applicable legal frameworks. First are being analyzed the European requirements and frameworks provided by EU...
