Validation of LC-MS method and monitoring of pharmaceuticals in water samples.

Occurrence, accumulation and subsequent fate of pharmaceuticals in environment currently represent a very actual topic. Worldwide, thousands of tons of pharmaceutical substances are consumed every year. A large portion of pharmaceuticals is, in unchanged or metabolized forms, disposed via sewage systems and wastewater treatment plants. Considering the fact that wastewater treatment processes are not able to completely eliminate all active substances or their metabolites, pharmaceuticals are systematically washing out into the water system and increasingly contaminate the ground and surface waters. The problematics of continuous control and progressive elimination of pharmaceutical residues from environment are still not completely solved. Thus, the development and availability of accurate and fast commercial analyses are highly desired. The aim of this diploma thesis was the optimization and validation of multi-residue UHPLC- MS/MS analytical method designated for the determination of 52 pharmaceuticals in drinking and waste waters. Study of variants of sewerage of the recreational center Vřesovice

The diploma thesis deals with the possibilities of sewerage and wastewater disposal in the recreational centre near Vřesovice. The purpose of the diploma thesis is the elaboration of variant solutions of sewerage, including the proposal of possibilities of wastewater treatment, economic evaluation of variants, their subsequent comparison and recommendation of the most suitable variant. The diploma thesis deals with the design of variants of wastewater treatment with subsequent discharge into surface waters. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of the individual variants of sewerage are summarized with a comparison of costs and subsequent recommendation of the variant.
Determination of selected drugs (beta-bloskers) in surface water

This bachelor's thesis discusses the issue of pharmaceuticals in the environment. -blockers are one of the most prescribed medications with the most frequent detection in the environment. These compounds are clinically important drugs used to cure cardiovascular disorders such as hypertension, arrythmia and angina pectoris. Due to their acute and chronic toxicity towards aquatic organisms it is important to monitor the concentrations levels. This study is focused on optimization of analytical method to determine these compounds. The matrix examined was a waste water from a waste water treatment plant (WWTP) Brno Modřice. A solid-phase extraction (SPE) was used for the isolation of analytes in a waste water samples. A method of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with the UV-VIS detection using a diode array detector (DAD) and mass spectrometry (MS) was used. Target analytes were atenolol, metoprolol and bisoprolol.

Topic of master thesis is Comparison of methods for determining the biochemical oxygen demand. This thesis is focused on mutual comparison of four analytical methods for determining the biochemical oxygen demand on four different samples of water, matrices. It is described principles of determining methods and procedures that are defining by norms and specific manufacturer practices. The result of thesis is evaluation individual methods, advantages and disadvantages and also comparison of methods in terms of repeatability of results, price, labor intensity and time.

The diploma thesis is focused on evaluate the efficiency of wastewater treatment plants in the village Veverská Bítýška. Part of the thesis is a literary research, which defines: the basic information about water, wastewater, wastewater treatment and related legislation. Other items of work are characteristic of interest territory and characteristic of selected wastewater treatment plant. In the context of the methodology of the diploma thesis are described selected indicators of water quality and individual determinations in the field and laboratory. Results for the set of indicators of water quality are processed in tables and the graphs, which are accompanied by brief descriptions. Efficiency of wastewater treatment plants is calculated from the acquired measurement results. At the end of the diploma thesis its the overall assessment. Efficiency of wastewater treatment plants always meet the set legislative limits. Values were almost always over 90%.

The thesis "Evaluation of the effectiveness of the wastewater treatment plant in Lipník nad Bečvou" compares the effectiveness of wastewater treatment before and after the plant reconstruction. This work is comprised of the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part applies overview of the water law legislation, sewerage, types of wastewater and concrete methods of wastewater treatment. The practical part is focused on wastewater treatment in the city. Included is the transport of wastewater, description of treatment technology before and after plant reconstruction. Follows the graphical results of wastewater treatment plant load, analytic wastewater checks and effectiveness of the WTP (Wastewater Treatment Plant) in years 2005 and 2015. The results show that the original wastewater treatment technology was, according to compliance with the emission standards, insufficient. For this reason, complete WTP reconstruction followed. From the current WTP results, it is evident that the hydraulic load is at 50 % average, but it is overloaded with the substance. Despite this fact, WTP maintains its high effectiveness in pollution elimination. The levels of pollution on the WTP output do not exceed the values of the emission standards and limits.

This thesis is concerned with verifying the functionality of domestic wastewater treatment plants soaking in the Tišnov region. The theoretical section describes methods of waste water within the houses, their distribution, utilization characteristics. There is also described the technology selected domestic wastewater treatment plants method of operation. There are mentioned legislative provisions relating to wastewater treatment plants discharging to do their groundwater. The work includes hydro-geological description of the site, in which monitored Domestic wastewater treatment plant is located. Within the practical part was to validate the effectiveness of wastewater treatment. Samples of wastewater were regularly for six months removed from individual domestic wastewater treatment plants BAT and analyzed in the laboratory of the Institute of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Engineering Faculty of Agronomy, Mendel University in Brno. Measured parameters determining the quality of wastewater were compared with relevant legislation, the values guaranteed by the manufacturer of the individual household wastewater. Results of the analyzes of waste waters were evaluated interpreted. On the basis of their recommendations was established.

The topic of the thesis is Comparison of methods for determination of chemical oxygen demand. Chemical oxygen demand is one of the basic indicators of water pollution. It indicates the degree of pollution by organic and oxidizable inorganic substances. The work is focused on comparison of methods, which are commonly used for the determination of COD in wastewater. The methods assessed are the titration method and the spectrophotometric method. The methods are compared on differently loaded samples. The aim of the comparison is to assess the repeatability of the results, the financial costs of the methods, and the labor and time demands.
Analýza korozní odolnosti strojního zařízení v čistírnách odpadních vod

The thesis deals with the analysis of corrosion resistance of machinery used in wastewater treatment plants. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the composition of waste water in terms of corrosion aggressiveness and describes the corrosive en-vironment in the WWTP. Furthermore, the types of corrosion are characterized and the exposed machinery of the WWTP with the highest level of corrosion is determined. The experimental part of the work is devoted to the analysis of corrosion resistance of corrosion-resistant austenitic steels and structural non-alloyed steels with duplex zinc coating and acrylate paint. Furthermore, structural low-alloyed steels with chemical-heat treatment by nitriding and ferritic nitrocarburizing in gas and structural non-alloyed steel with duplex system of phosphate + epoxy coating and zinc + epoxy coating are analysed as a possible replacement for stainless steels. The steels with duplex system of zinc + acrylate coating used in practice show little corrosion resistance (the first signs of corrosion after 12 h and 24 h). some chemical-heat treated steels and steel with duplex sys-tem of zinc + epoxy coating achieved the same corrosion resistance as stainless steels (264 h test time) and can be used in technical practice.

The diploma thesis deals with the evaluation of the efficiency of wastewater treatment at a selected wastewater treatment plant in Hodějice. It is used for the treatment of mostly sewage water from five municipalities. The aim was to obtain data on the water quality at the inflow and outflow from the WWTP based on its own monitoring, calculate the efficiency and to compare it with the data provided by the WWTP Hodějice in 2018. The relevant issue of pollution, wastewaters, their sewering and treatment is handled in literary review. The thesis also includes characteristics of the area of interest and selected wastewater treatment plant. The results were graphically processed and compared with the emission standards set out in government regulation no.401/2015 coll. and the water authority of Slavkov u Brna, listed in the Sewerage code of WWTP Hodějice. It was found that for the monitored indicators the efficiency of treatment is sufficient.
