Revitalization of Selected Lightweight Cladding of Buildings, Implemented in the Czech Republic before 1990
Liška, Pavel ; Gašparík,, Jozef (referee) ; Sedlák,, Petr (referee) ; Kovářová, Barbora (advisor)
The dissertation thesis is focused on a design of new methodology that can be used for selection of optimal variant for the revitalization of light building facade system known as OD-001 “Boletice panel” when current construction solutions and materials are implemented. Thermographic measurement and engineering survey of selected buildings was carried out to determine the defects and insufficiencies that might accompanied these structures and their revitalization. Another point of my thesis was a possibility of revitalization by bonded facade. Mechanical resistance of bonded facade was verified throughout experimental testing and by mathematical calculation. The usability was confirmed on the basis of specific criteria that were stipulated in advance. The selected criteria are focused on areas which are important for investors. These are mainly financial cost, payback period but also the impact on the environment. Simulations and advanced methods of decision making were used.

The decision making is influenced also by the parents' attitude to the delay which has also impact on the weight being attached to other factors of the decision-making process, such as school maturity and individual areas of school readiness as well as the month of birth. During the decision-making process the experience of parents with enrolment in the first grade plays an important role as well. The...

The goal of this thesis is to examine the term of public interest within the framework of the 'shale gas' issue in the Czech Republic. The theoretical section is divided into two basic parts. The examination is focused on the context of administrative procedures defining the prospecting exploration area of unconventional hydrocarbon resources in the Trutnov region and around the Berounka River The intention of private companies to extract shale gas in the Czech Republic caused a big discussion. In its core there is the dispute between the economic development of the country connected with energy security on one hand and the environment protection on the other. Within this debate the term public interest appears in many different contexts. The way it is used by the people involved and their interests are described through interviews with them and analysis of the gained material.

Blažek, Jiří ; Klepárník, Vít (advisor) ; Koubek, Jiří (referee)
This thesis focuses on the role of the advisors in the US foreign policy, especially in the decision-making process, which constitutes a part of presidential system in the United States of America. The methodology of the conceptual part is based on individual typologies of presidential control of the US administrations. The thesis also describes evolution of this discipline, which in the USA is studied in the field of Foreign Policy Analysis. The thesis combines these theoretical bases to describe and explain the evolution of presidential control typologies. Some problematic particularities of the Mitchell typology are also reviewed in this part. The next part based on the theoretical models analyses empirical reality. The analytical part constitutes of two case studies, which describe the role of the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs in the key deliberations of the presidential administrations of William J. By using the theory of liberal integovermentalism it reflects on wheter the position of the Parliament is mainly influenced by preferences of its political groups, or whether the national interests of those backbenchers, who depending on their position in the institution are able to influence this position, also play the role. The paper focuses on the case study of the Services Directive, which during its negotiations became a subject of many changes. Most controversial issues of the draft were a scope of the Directive and newly introduced country-of-origin principle. The second part presents key players of the negotiations within the Parliament. The third part itself focuses on the case study, mainly on the preferences of those key players during the development of the position of this institution. It later shows how those key players are able to assert their position in the Parliament and during the inter-institutional negotiations. The paper mainly focuses on the possibilities of those key players to promote the national...
Analysis of the Decision-Making Process of the Kennedy Administration During the Second Berlin Crisis in 1961
Procházková, Michaela ; Sehnálková, Jana (advisor) ; Smetana, Vít (referee)
The second Berlin crisis represents one of the important milestones in the development of the Soviet-American relations during the Cold War. After the World War II, Berlin was divided into four occupation zones. Following the establishment of the two German states, this situation resulted in the city being split into the Western and the Eastern part. At the end of 1958, the Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev threatened the Western powers that he would sign a peace treaty with the German Democratic Republic and hand over the control of access routes to the Western Berlin to the East German officials. The following four-power negotiations failed to find a solution to the Berlin question. After the 1960 presidential election, John F. Kennedy became the president of the United States and thereby inherited the Berlin question from his predecessor. The Bachelor's thesis "Analysis of the Decision- Making Process of the Kennedy Administration during the Second Berlin Crisis in 1961" concentrates on two key events of the crisis development - the first meeting of Kennedy and Khrushchev in Vienna in June 1961, and the closure of the borders between the West and the East Berlin followed by the construction of the Berlin Wall in August 1961. It aims to analyze the U.S. responses to these events using three...
