The Experience of New Social Media
Farrier, Ellie ; Dudová, Radka (advisor) ; Německý, Marek (referee)
-The Experience of New Social Media Communication with friends and family around the world is something that American expats in Prague have much experience with. Throughout this study, the author has attempted to relate in-depth user experiences with social media to both new media and historical sociology concepts, in order to better understand how social media is used and understood. The phenomenological research conducted focuses on varied user experiences of four Americans expats currently living in Prague, Czech Republic. The experiences explored begin with the respondents' adolescent experiences with social media and the internet, and continue through their current age as young adults. The sources used to interpret and understand these user experiences range from Erving Goffman and Pierre Bourdieu, to Marshall McLuhan and Karl Marx. The author's goal in the study was to test how both historical and new media theories hold true to concrete user experiences with social media and the internet. Keywords: user experience, media, technology, phenomenological research, social media, communication
SOCMINT - opportunities and challenges for security community
Hrudka, Tomáš ; Střítecký, Vít (advisor) ; Ludvík, Jan (referee)
SOCMINT, or Social Media Intelligence has recently become focus of security community and started to be increasingly favored intelligence gathering method. Apart from providing relevant information and its cost-effective use, main advantage is that the potential of this intelligence technique is very diverse. Due to the relatively public nature of social networks, SOCMINT was generally regarded as unproblematic. However, on closer examination, this intelligence method presents a number of risks. The interest it raised from intelligence and security services in such a short time has given way to a situation where the techniques used by SOCMINT have begun to develop without precise methodological, legal and ethical rules. If the intelligence community wants to use this tool in its full potential and without risking negative response to SOCMINT techniques from the society, a framework must be set up as soon as possible to keep SOCMINT within the proper limits. This thesis aims to examine what opportunities and challenges SOCMINT brings to security community and society and propose how to deal with them.

"Too cool to pretend to care"
Vinklárková, Tereza ; Remešová, Anna (referee) ; Sterec, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of the project is to capture the consumer attitude of society, the millennial culture, fake news, as well as planetary and social changes. It presents a stylized post-ironic statement of mostly narcissistic millennials, whose social platforms have become the main platform for expression, forcing us to reflect on the variety of information we are surrounded by and the need of its selection. It also opens the discussion about the phenomenon of denying the existence of climate change visible through the absurd arguments and the phenomenon of geoengineering, targeted human interventions in natural processes, primarily to permanently or at least temporarily cool the planet.
