The concept of fleetingness in V. Woolf's novel Mrs. Dalloway
ZVONÍČKOVÁ, Andrea
This bachelor thesis focuses on the concept of fleetingness in Virginia Woolf's novel Mrs. Dalloway. The aim of this work is to offer a complete overview of these moments in the story, interpret them and show which techniques the author employs to achieve the sensation of fleetingness; all of this with the help of Henri Bergson's theories of time. Based on this philosopher's thoughts the work will analyse the concept of objective and subjective time, which appears in Mrs. Dalloway. As time is one of the main topics of this thesis, there will also be an overview of the most significant philosophical theories dealing with the issue.

The Book Song of Songs as an Answer to Qohelet's Vanity
FILIPOVÁ, Anna
This thesis is concerned with, in the words of Song of Songs, finding an appropriate answer to Qohelet's vanity - vanity of a human life and things that inherently come with it, as Qohelet himself proclaims in his book. The first chapter introduces the Book of Qohelet and aims to capture the main themes of vanity and transience, while also providing the ways out from this situation, as presented by Qohelet. The second chapter introduces the reader to the Song of Songs book while also describing its content which concerns the interpretation of love between a man and a woman. The third chapter brings forward efforts of the author and the main themes and conclusions of the book are analysed. Programmable nucleases in human therapy
Šlaufová, Marta ; Kašpárek, Petr (advisor) ; Černý, Jan (referee)
Most genome disorders cause severe symptoms and are usually incurable. Recent, rapid development of programmable nucleases (PNs) brought new possibilities for the treatment of many diseases, such as genetic disorders, infectious diseases or cancer. PNs are enzymes, which enable site specific DNA cleavage that can lead to targeted modification of desired genomic loci. They are composed of separable non-specific cleavage domain and DNA- binding domain. The DNA binding domain is in the form of modular DNA-binding proteins or complementarity-based pairing of the oligonucleotide. The non-specific cleavage domain mediates DSB stimulation, which is necessary for further genome editing. Development of zinc finger nucleases (ZFNs) followed by transcription activator-like effector nucleases (TALENs) enabled the first therapeutic approaches based on targeted manipulation of human genome. The clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)-Cas technology brought further simplification to the method and broadened the availability of PN-based toolkits. This thesis will provide a summary of the recent developments, application of PNs in the therapy of human patients and potential obstacles preventing their implementation in clinics.

Time perspective and procrastination in college students
Böhm, Tomáš ; Lukavská, Kateřina (advisor) ; High, Radka (referee)
The main objective of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the time orientation of students of higher education institutions in the Czech Republic and to examine the links of the relevant perspective to the degree of the procrastinational behavior of the individual. The theoretical framework of the thesis focuses on a comprehensive presentation of the time perspective concept, especially in terms of the multidimensional approach of P. Zimbard, including the relevant diagnostic tool. Furthermore, the thesis describes the current phenomenon of procrastination in the concept of individual psychological directions and specific forms of procrastination. Based on the synthesis of the above-mentioned concepts, the study describes previous studies dealing with the interrelationships of procrastination and the creation of timeframes, whose specific elements represent the meritorious content of an empirical study of this work. For the correlation research, an extended version of the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory questionnaire is used in the time perspective, which, unlike previous research, will allow a detailed analysis of the potential presence of completely new relationships. To diagnose procrastination, the research probe uses the Procrastination Scale for Students questionnaire which, when compared...
