The impact of education on happiness in the Czech Republic
Krepčíková, Klára ; Houdek, Petr (advisor) ; Brožová, Dagmar (referee)
This paper examines the relationship between education and happiness in Czech Republic using data from European Social Survey. By applying descriptive statistics and estimating the happiness equation, it can be found that education has both direct and indirect impact (through higher income and higher probability of getting an employment) on men's happiness. The influence was not found if we consider women. Men with higher upper secondary education are found to be less happy than men with lower secondary education or tertiary education. It can be thus concluded that these men might not be getting returns from their investment to education. Furthermore, parent's education is found to have negative impact in children's happiness. While the women's happiness is lower when the father is more educated, the men's happiness is negatively affected by mother's education. It seems that women consider their fathers and men their mothers to be a person of reference.
Wage Inequality and Returns to Education: Evidence from Visegrad Countries
Votava, Tomáš ; Klosová, Anna (advisor) ; Pugh, Geoff (referee)
Wage inequality is a well-established phenomenon of contemporary labour markets both in the United States and Europe, frequently discussed in the contemporary labour economics literature. In the following paper, based on harmonised data of the EU-SILC database, a semi parametric technique of quantile regression has been applied together with the traditional OLS method in order to estimate the impact of returns to education on wages in the Visegrad Group countries, namely the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia. The main aim of the analysis is to examine the returns to education in these countries in order to observe differences appearing across them as well as within selected groups formed according to both the highest level of education attained and a number of years spent in a paid work (experience).

This bachelor thesis focuses on the factors influencing the use of people with primary education, especially on the local labor market in Písek. Part of this work is a comparison of four specific cities (Karvina, Brno-město, Prague and Písek) in terms of different structures of unemployment and the most used tools of active employment policy. The labor market in Písek is analyzed thoroughly. Persons with primary education are especially competed with people with disabilities and immigrants. This paper explores with the use of collected information and local investigation in Písek, whether active employment policy do not place barriers in the employment of persons with primary education and whether employers are interested in these persons, because they are cheap labor force. The final section provides suggestions of my institutional and legal measures to improve the employment of these persons.

Lašáková, Kristýna ; Kouřilová, Jana (advisor) ; Krejčová, Nikola (referee)
In my master thesis the issue of regional development of the Czech Republic and the Netherlands in relation to the educational structure of their inhabitants has been dealt. The main aim of the paper was determined whether the highest level of education of the economically active population of both countries affects their regional development. I decided to compare the Czech Republic with the Netherlands because both countries are small open economies dependent on export to Germany, members of the European Union. However the Netherlands belongs among the richest countries in the world, has a high standard of living of the population and is characterised for a quality of education system. The relation between regional development and educational structure of inhabitants in the Czech Republic and the Netherlands was examined using the regression linear model. The cohesion regions were chosen as the basic units of comparative analysis in both countries. The regional development were defined according to 5th Cohesion report by 5 macroeconomic indicators. In compliance with output of regression analysis the relation between educational structure of economically active population and macroeconomic indicators, which represented regional development was not entirelly proved.

BLÁHOVÁ, Kateřina
The importance of oral hygiene in the life of each person is irreplaceable and correct performance of oral hygiene has its significance in socio-economic position of each person. I set the goal of assessing the level of oral hygiene in a group of patients from the town of České Budějovice and surroundings in my work. I selected the quantitative research method with the help of questionnaires as the working method of my research work. The goal of my thesis was to assess the level of oral hygiene and also to assess the patients{\crq} approaches to this issue in relationship to their achieved level of education. I confirmed with my investigation that the level of education has influence on performance of oral hygiene; it has further influence on the awareness of the citizens with regard to the attitude to their oral health and on the assessment of their oral health in relationship to their current job and further on the relationship of oral hygiene and the level of life style and position in the society.
Analysis of the effect of chosen variables on divorce rate
Růžičková, Zuzana ; Hudík, Marek (advisor) ; Rod, Aleš (referee)
The theory of divorce assumes that certain factors are partly responsible for an increase in divorce rate, with most of the literature focusing on the effect of an increase in women's earnings. The goal of my thesis is to estimate the effect of women's earnings as well other variables on the divorce rate in the Czech Republic, using the data from 1995-2008. As other variables the following were chosen: men's earnings, presence of children in marriage, employment of women in managerial positions and in agriculture, and higher education of women. First the effect of each variables on divorce rate by using the method of ordinary least squares is estimated, then the effect of chosen variables by using the method of successive elimination of variables with the highest p-value is analyzed. Positive effect of women's earnings and negative effect of higher education on divorce rate was proved.
