Seniors and their Access to Sport Activities

The thesis deals with the participation and access of seniors to the regular physical activities. The theoretical part is focused on the issue of improving the participation of inactive seniors in physical activities and also keywords are defined. The practical part presents the results of the questionnaire undertaken among seniors. There are certain shortcomings of this issue pointed out and some suggestions for possible solutions are presented. The thesis is focused on seniors in Brno and its surroundings. In the practical part these are divided into two groups. The participants of Exercise studio for seniors functioning at the University of the Third Age at Brno University of Technology are compared with the same sample of seniors from Brno and its surroundings.

Education of seniors in U3V from the perspective of lecturers

The topic of this diploma thesis is the education of seniors within the universities of the third age at Charles University in Prague from the perspective of lecturers. The thesis deals with key aspects of this topic, from a theoretical and as well practical point of view. The main goal is to understand the process of senior`s education and how it is perceived by the lecturers. The thesis describes their acquired experiences, the possibilities of developing the education of seniors and the perceived barriers in the education of this population at U3A as part of lifelong learning. The theoretical part of the thesis serves as a basic framework for understanding the issue of education for seniors. It uses professional literature to define key terms and concepts. The attention is placed on the importance of lifelong learning for seniors and on the specifics of the educational process in this context. Other chapters are focused on the lecturers themselves in connection with the didactic process and psychodidactics. They deal with the personality of the lecturer, his role and his competences. 1 ABSTRACT The topic of the thesis is the education of seniors within the U3V at Charles University from the point of view of lecturers. The thesis describes her acquired experience, possibilities and perceived barriers in the education of this population at U3V as part of lifelong learning. The work is divided into two parts, theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part defines the basic terms with the help of professional literature. It discusses the importance of learning for the elderly population and the specifics of this educational process. Other chapters are focused on the lecturers themselves in connection with the didactic process psychodidactics. They deal with the personalities of the lecturer, his role and his competences. Vývoj sociální péče a formy vzdělávaní seniorů v ČR

The presented work deals with the issue of life of seniors in the Czech Republic. There are a number of changes associated with aging that affect an individual's quality of life. These are physical, psychological and social changes that manifest themselves in all areas of an individual's life. Probably the biggest change is retirement, which is accompanied by the search for a new meaning of life. The opportunity to study can help in this regard. Seniors can use a variety of forms of further education. However, they most often look for educational activities carried out within universities of the third age. In the presented work, the relationship between the quality of life of seniors and education within U3V will be determined. For this purpose, the data of the Czech Statistical Office concerning the quality of life of seniors will be analysed and a questionnaire survey among seniors will be carried out. The aim will be to find out the difference between perception of the quality of life of seniors attending universities of the third age and seniors who do not study at the universities of the third age.
The Seniors Education on University of the Third Age like a Form of Active Aging Itself

This bachelor thesis is focused on education within University of the Third Age as one of the often mentioned activities which have some positive effect on the older people within support of active aging. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to understand the of older people´s motivation to study the University of the Third Age. This thesis consists of two parts, the theoretical and empirical part. Theoretical part consists of four chapters. Chapter one is devoted to old age, aging, active aging, lifestyle and leisure time of older people. The second chapter focuses on social and intergenerational contacts and barriers in the lives of older people. The third chapter presents an overview of education of older people and their motivation to study. The fourth chapter deals with institutions that ensure education for the older people and information and communication technologies. In the second part, empirical, we will find the goal of the bachelor's thesis, which is to find out how older people are motivated to study at the University of the Third Age. In order to obtain an in-depth description of this issue, a qualitative research strategy was chosen in this bachelor's thesis. We will also find the main research question here, which is: What is the benefit of education at University of the Third Age for older people? To answer the main research question, partial research questions and other supplementary questions have been set. The semi-structured interview technique was chosen as the method of questioning for collecting necessary data. The sample consisted of older people attending the University of the Third Age in the South Bohemian Region. Based on the data obtained, the results are then analyzed. The research has found that seniors have many reasons to study at University of the Third Age, including gaining new knowledge, experience and personality development. Social contacts have a very important role for seniors, they finds new friends, with whom they spend their free time, share their life experiences and motivates each other in their personal lives and studies. The study has a positive effect on the seniors physical and mental condition. As part of the evaluation, studying for seniors brings many benefits, including strengthening memory, gaining new information and finding new leisure activities.
Marketing Communication at the Universities of the Third Age

The focus of this work is on the analysis of marketing communication at the Universities of the Third Age. The subject of this study is to compare promotion at the chosen Czech Universities, which participate in the Association of Universities of the Third Age. The work contains a theoretical interpretation of basic terms of the marketing mix, marketing communication, and the Universities of the Third Age. The thesis also conatins an assessment of the result of the analysis, which is based on a questionnaire intended for representatives of the Universities. From the results of the analysis, it is possible to determine measures to improve performance.
"You can't command a change of thinking": system of informal education for the elderly from the public policy perspective

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of non-formal education for senior citizens in Czech Republic from the perspective of public policy. The main goal of this thesis is to capture the current state, main challenges and key topics in the field of non-formal education for senior citizens in Czech Republic. The system of non-formal education for senior citizens represents a complex structure of institutions, which offer educational programmes and activities. Both the system and the senior population are immensely diverse, which, on one hand, offers a high degree of flexibility and autonomy to both, the participants and the institutions. But on the other hand, it presents a challenge for public policy to capture the complexity of the phenomenon, whilst maintaining inclusivity. The non-formal education for senior citizens isn't defined by the legislative and the field therefore falls under three different departments: Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports; Ministry of Labour and Social Affair and Ministry of Culture. The thesis deals with the topic of Third Age Universities in the context of the active aging concept. In the theoretical part the topic is set in the problem of an aging population and social aspects of retirement. In short, U3V history in the world and in the Czech Republic is introduced. The concept of active aging is defined differently, so for the purposes of research chosen definition consisting of three fundamental aspects - the active lifestyle, inclusion and material security. Qualitative research through interviews with U3V students at Charles University in Prague explores how these aspects are implemented from the perspective of the students. Active lifestyle for seniors is supported by the expansion of knowledge, supporting programs and physical activity. In school, students make new friendships, which often go outside courses. In both of these aspects for seniors is particularly important 'quality' of the options, i.e. the level of provided knowledge and intelligence and interests of new friends. Seniors, who study together with younger students, and those who attend separate courses, consider intergenerational encounters beneficial and enriching for both groups. Hardiness of Senior Citizens participating in Universities of the Third Age

The population is getting older. Prognosis predict increasing numbers of people in the age group 65+ in the future. Therefore, it is necessary to think about involving senior citizens in social development and supporting their self-sufficiency up to a higher age. Education is one of the ways to achieve that. The focus of this thesis is on education within the Universities of the Third Age, which it studies from a new point of view. Hardiness is seen as part of personal characteristics which helps the individual cope with stressful situations. Research in this thesis is trying to find out if the senior citizens attending the Universities of the Third Age have a higher scores on hardiness then those who do not attend, and also whether they have a more positive outlook on their health and meaning of their lives. The thesis also studies whether the scores on hardiness depends on gender, formal education level and whether it is connected to perceived social support. The results show that there is no difference in the scores on hardiness resulting from gender. Senior citizens attending the Universities of the Third Age have a more positive outlook on their health and they also perceive their lives as more meaningful.
