Votavová, Kateřina ; Šídlo, Luděk (advisor) ; Brázová, Kateřina (referee)
Population development of district towns in the South Bohemian Region Abstract The aim of the thesis is to analyse and describe the population development in the seven largest cities of the South Bohemia Region in the period 1997-2021. The thesis draws on individual and anonymised data to analyse the basic demographic indicators of fertility, mortality and migration. The work compares the cities with each other as well as compares the development with the national average. Among other things, the thesis examines the development documents of cities, especially their efforts to address demographic issues. Moreover, the analysis shows that most cities, with the exception of Písek, tend to lose population, but with different intensity and timing. In all cities fertility intensity and mortality evolve similarly with minimal differences. Finally, the city management is currently trying to address demographic issues in most cities. Keywords: population development, towns, fertility, mortality, migration

Velička, Tomáš ; Hlaváček, Ivan (advisor) ; Pátková, Hana (referee) ; Ryantová, Marie (referee)
The present work deals with confirmations that have issued Bohemian kings and princes of Silesia to Bohemian or Silesian towns. The work is divided into five parts. The first deals with existing exploration and methodological inspiration that I subsequently used. The second chapter summarizes the findings regarding the process of confirmation documents - from motives of its release, through the process of the documents in the office during the procedure, to handing over the finished instrument beneficiaries and paying taxes. Then I deal with the various types of confirmations and also I discuss separately the observational charters. The third part is devoted confirmations for the Bohemian towns with regard to all documents which the royal towns received, published by Bohemian kings. The problems are discussed from the perspective of publishers and recipients, as well as the documents themselves (their content, form). The same shall apply also in the case of the fourth chapter, which deals with the same aspects of the Silesian towns and confirmations, which they were received. The final chapter summarizes the findings, which I reached on the previous pages. An important part of this thesis is a variety of reports and graphs to better perceive the immediate context and development trends. I also deal with...

The results show, that the towns, which are positively evaluated in terms of their transparency are characterized by high participation in elections and low unemployment rate. According to the results, towns with higher levels of economic and social capital rate are generally better evaluated in their transparency. Lhoták, Jan ; Maur, Eduard (advisor) ; Petráň, Josef (referee) ; Knoz, Tomáš (referee)
Jan Lhoták Borough landed estate of Sušice. From borough villages to abolition of corvee and its results (abstract) The aim of this doctoral thesis lies in its contribution to a complex problem of economic development of Czech landowning towns in the post-White Mountain period. The research is focused on a selected problem of town feudalisation, i. e. analysis of the importance as well as extent of their seignorial activities. Czech historiography has dealt with such a topic rather marginally, because towns used to be understood as a strange element in feudal environment, which on the contrary created conditions for social modernisation. Aristocratic (chamber) or church landed estates used to be studied as a matter of priority. Introductory chapter balances current research on the topic of borough landed estates. General survey of the research in Western Europe is presented first. Seignorial ambitions of towns are part and parcel of a vast outlined study of mutual relation between the town and the country. The topic has already been applicated in archaeology and medievistics. For the Early Modern period the research has been fragmented between agrarian and urban history, the methods of which approach the topic with various results (above all the work of Adolf Zeman about Pilsen and Rokycany in the 18th...
Malé náměstí in Hradec Králové. To the Formation and Development of Public Spaces in the Medieval Town.
Záveská, Daniela ; Klápště, Jan (advisor) ; Ježek, Martin (referee)
In 2006, the reconstruction of the canalization lane and paving at Malé náměstí of Hradec Králové induced a salvage excavation of such an extent that has not been surpassed so far. Trenches discovered evidence of the development and changes in the function of the explored space during the High Middle Ages. There were found several phases in the surface reinforcement of the main street that connects the town with the Slezské suburb. The oldest surface treatment of the street can be dated as far back as the 13th century. In the second half of the 13th century, a build-up area developed alongside the road and it ceased to exist during the first half of the following century, at the latest. The cleared-up area was later transformed into a public space. Its historical development is reflected in a series of layers of reinforced surfaces. The research results confirm and refine the previously stated hypothesis concerning the development of the eastern part of the town.

Local and National Identity in Historical Monographs on Bohemian, Moravian and Galician Towns (1860-1900)
Ira, Jaroslav ; Klusáková, Luďa (advisor) ; Štaif, Jiří (referee) ; Řezník, Miloš (referee)
The dissertation thesis deals with urban historical monographs that were published in 1860-1900 in Czech, German, and Polish language, and covered towns in Bohemia, Moravia, and Galicia. Adopting a broadly comparative perspective, the study focuses on the social dimension of the books through the lens of local and national identities. It presupposes that the urban histories essentially created local identities but at the same time makes a hypothesis that nationalization of society in the 19th century had significant impact on local urban history. The first chapter shows that the urban historiography in each of the regional-language spheres developed unevenly. One of the reasons was the different significance of towns and urban past in national thoughts. The following chapter analyses urban monographs as books. It poses questions about who wrote urban histories, with what intentions, and for what readership. It reveals that the books had essentially two roles: they served local purposes and at the same time they were integrated in the national programme The two remaining chapters deal with the analysis of historical representations. The fourth chapter compares urban histories with regard to periodization of urban past. It confirms that the national historical frame significantly influenced the ways...
