Pornography as the agent of technological change : the transformation of perception of embodiment and privacy

The aim of this rigorosum thesis is to explore the relationship between pornography and new technologies. The influence of this relationship on perception of embodiment and privacy is also discussed. The thesis describes technologies and related procedures which came into contact with pornographic content at an early stage of their existence and has been affected by this specific segment of the market. This paper also examines aspects of these effects and focuses on the related penetration of these technologies among the general public. It also reflects the possible impacts on individuals and whole society. The thesis is divided into four main chapters. The first chapter focuses on videocassette recorders, i.e. a technology that was affected by pornography in the past. The second chapter summarizes the impact of pornography on the Internet, which represents the technology we encounter every day, and which is often an integral part of our lives. The third chapter outlines the possible future development of relationship between pornography and new technologies, while it also analyzes the driving forces of the influence of pornography. How to Create Self-Driven Education: The Social Web & Social Sciences, Coursera & Khan Academy 2014 Case Study

This diploma thesis is concerned with the possibilities of the social web data employment in social sciences. Its theoretical part describes the changes in education in the context of the dynamics of contemporary society within three fundamental (interrelated) dimensions of technology (the cause and/or the tool for the change), work (new models of collaboration), and economics (sustainability of free & open-source business models). The main methodological part of the thesis is focused on the issues of sampling, sample representativeness, validity & reliability assessment, ethics, and data collection of the emerging social web research in social sciences. The research part includes illustrative social web analyses and conclusions of the author's 2014 Coursera & Khan Academy on the Social Web research and provides the full research report in its attachement to compare its results to the theoretical part in order to provide a "naive" (as derived from the social web mentions and networks) answer to the fundamental question: "How to Create Self-Driven Education?" The influence of the ICT development on the media literacy

This bachelor's thesis aims to examine the influence of the development of information and communication technologies on media literacy. In short, it is an analysis of statistical data on the development of ICT and the subsequent implementation of this data on the empirical facts about media literacy in the Czech Republic. Main idea is focused on the gradual transition from traditional methods of transmitting media information to digitalisation and how Czech society is dealing with this change. The paper demonstrates the differences in the opportunities to access modern technologies which can display media content and examines these differences in various socio-demographic groups.
Posthumanist Tendencies in Performance Art : Interaction of Body and Code

This thesis offers a critical reflection of posthumanism as seen through the perspectives of performance art. The first part of the text discusses the onset and development of posthumanism as a philosophical and cultural movement focused on the gradual convergence of the human and technology. The following second part then presents a reflection of thus conceptualized posthumanism in performance art. Posthumanism is conceived as a movement on the border between serious scientific discourse and fiction: Based on the mathematical theory of communication, as well as the legacy of cyberpunk dystopia, posthumanism offers a vision of a transition from human to the so called posthuman. The posthuman is seen as an offspring of technoculture, the synthesis of living and artificial, a loosely evolving entity without fixed ontological boundaries. The existence of the posthuman lies beyond dualistic categorization, has a processual character and refuses any essentialist approach. It is an attractive subject of science-fiction stories and a sexy postmodern slogan, but it is also a symbol of a transgression of actual predestinating categories such as race, gender or social status. Methodology for Evaluation in Google Company

The thesis describes a search engine of Google company and its method of web pages evaluating, which is used for sorting them on the search engine result page. In addition to the description of how search engines work in general, the thesis targets on differencies between Google and other search engines, as well as it mentions characteristics and principles designed by its founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, which make it unique. In the second part there are outlined some of many signals which are rated for every single web page. The most concerned signal is PageRank as the leading idea of pages evaluating, based on their link scheme which is founded on principles of citation analysis. Factors for evaluating are analysed using particular examples, and the topic is ended by the description of Google search engines changes from its beginning in 1998 until present.
Paola Mastrocola vs. Contemporary Italian Society. Thematic analysis of author's narrative and essay works.

The topic of this thesis is a thematic analysis of literary works of contemporary Italian writer Paola Mastrocola. The introduction is a short introduction of the author (her biographical and bibliographical data). After that there is a research of the most important topics that are shown the most in the Mastrocola's works (both prose and essays). The following section focuses on the artist's work with exaggeration, the use of irony or humor and comic elements, the difference between direct and indirect criticism. The conclusion summarizes the thematic analysis and the main common attributes of Paola Mastrocola's production. Finally, there is a sketched picture of contemporary Italian society, which the reader gains from her works. Teaching English Effectively with an Interactive Whiteboard

The diploma thesis Teaching English Effectively with an Interactive Whiteboard deals with the phenomenon of interactive whiteboards; their characteristics, installation in schools, possible ways of use and contributions to English lessons. The main aims are to examine the tool from various perspectives, to research the situation of IWBs in the Czech Republic and to provide technical as well as methodological support for teachers of English as a foreign language. The theoretical part summarises facts about interactive whiteboards on the basis of worldwide research and publications, whereas the main body is more teacher-oriented and focuses on the practical aspects of using IWBs at schools. Therefore, it includes a survey, guidelines with many ideas, sample activities created in the software ActiveInspire and accompanied by a detailed commentary, and finally, training for teachers which was organised in Prague.
