A stand of the students of the Third Age University at Charles University on their oldness

The thesis is focused on the attitudes of students of the University of the Third Age to their own old age. The definition of the theoretical context in the first part focuses on the issues of aging and old age in connection with identifying the quality of life of seniors. This section is also focused on the topic Universities of the Third Age, their historical context in the current form. In the research part the results of the survey have been presented. To achieve the research objective, a quantitative research strategy, a method of questioning, was used. Specifically, a standardized questionnaire of attitudes to age and aging (AAQ) was used, which was developed by the World Health Organization. The main aim of this thesis was to determine the attitudes of students of the University of the Third Age at the Charles University to their own old age and then to compare these attitudes with a group of inactive seniors. Another subject of the research was also the influence of the social-demographic indicators on the attitudes of seniors to age and motivation of the undergraduates to study at the University of the Third Age. Quality of Life for Users in Nursing Home

Bachelor thesis is focused on the quality of life of users in the House for the elderly. Quality of life in old age is currently a very hot topic, since demographic researches point to the fact that humanity is ageing and the question of old age, care in old age, and improving the quality of life of older people need to be addressed more and more. It is important that the seniors have learned to adapt to the new conditions, and was given the opportunity to rediscovery and the search for meaning in life. It is essential to make the seniors themselves sought to use all options cultural and social activities, maintaining the greatest possible self-sufficiency, physical exercises, and more. The aim of the theoretical work is to present the theoretical information about the aging process, the needs of the elderly, social services and opportunities. The main aim of the practical part is to determine the quality of life of users in the House in Třeboň. a home for the elderly in Třeboň I chose because I am here alone carried out the practice, so I had opportunity to see how the operation of this device is. For this, the main objectives to be achieved, I chose another target, and find out how it differs subjectively perceived quality of life seniorek and the elderly before going to a home for the elderly. For the fulfillment of the objectives of the work I have chosen qualitative research. Data collection was conducted by method is semistructured interviews. The interview had sixteen diverse questions and was presented in the PCA in Třeboň ten seniors-5 women and 5 men aged 60-80 years. The research was conducted in December 2016. I processed the results into mind maps, tables and charts. Research has found that seniors are with life in a home for the elderly in Třeboň satisfied, and that there is a direct correlation between the quality of provided services and quality of life. Quality of life of senior citizens mostly they perceive as well as prior to joining home, but point out that they fundamentally changed their lifestyle. The results of the investigation, in particular, can be used in a home for the elderly, which could lead to the improvement of care for the elderly living in the facility for the elderly in Třeboň. Furthermore, could also be of help families whose loved ones are living in a social device. Transformations Capacity in selected Social Services for Seniors in the Pilsen Region

The demographic changes of society affect its structure, which is the subject of many disciplines and experts working in them. In the introductory part of this work we draw on knowledge from demographic prognoses, followed by data on the legal definition, planning and importance of selected social services of homes for dementia and Alzheimer's special care and respite. The aim of this work is to show the perspective of social service providers, namely how they perceive the increase in service capacities. The main objective was to map out the process of accessing homes for dementia and Alzheimer's special care and respites in residential form. In the research, two sub-objectives were defined, namely the identification of limits for capacity building of homes for dementia and Alzheimer's special care and relief services. Using the questioning method and semi-structured interview techniques, are the limits identified, which social services providers must face today and, on the other hand, the limits that appear to be restrictive in the future horizon, according to social service providers. Based on the research has been found that the most problematic factors concern personnel and financial services. In addition, limits were identified in cooperation with the Pilsen region. The results of this work are evidence of individual systemic discrepancies, which are evident both at national and regional level. That is why they pay attention to work about possible solutions that reflect the very importance of this topic. The results obtained can serve as a reflection in the planning of social services at the regional level, the professional and lay public, or as a proof of the status of social services in this territory.

Health literacy of seniors in pharmacology.

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of health literacy of seniors in the field of pharmacology. The aim of the work was to find out, which skills and abilities seniors have, to understand, search and use information, services, and tools related to pharmacology. Thanks to these social and cognitive skills, seniors can have greater control over their health, they can make good decisions about their health condition, and they can maintain and support their health in general. The second aim of this thesis was to find out what problems the seniors encounter in the daily use of medicaments and what aspects make them the most difficult. With today's overusing drugs, seniors face more than one problem and it is affecting their quality of life and whole drug therapy. To achieve my goals, I have used quantitative research, using questionnaires. The examined sample was male and female from the age of 65 and the total number of respondents was 120. I set 2 goals with eight related hypotheses. Based on the gained results, out of the eight hypotheses, two of them were accepted and six of them were rejected. Based on the gained information from the research, in collaboration with graphic designer Dominika Pýchová, I created a stylized illustration (Annex 2), which could be introduced in the packaging to simplify pharmacy's using by seniors and simplify the information from information flyers. The reason, why seniors don't read the information flyers is the fact, that printed letters are too small and not readable. I was present while filling out the questionnaires and that is why I found out, that seniors would welcome better and uniform drug list which would make them easier to use. That's why I redrew the American version of the drug list, which is listed in (Annex 3). Overall research shows that half of the seniors are using more than 5 drugs, they have bigger problem of knowing the effects of drugs than knowing their names. Almost nobody knows the side effects of the drugs, as well as a clinical pharmacist who would facilitate pharmacotherapy in many cases. Practitioners do not check their patients' medication, and in many cases, when hospitalized, practitioners find out that the patient is taking unnecessary medication or even those that have not been prescribed for a long time. As long as the seniors do not improve their knowledge with help from practitioner and nurse, or by introducing of drug list's regular checks, seniors will be in alarming danger and their health literacy will not improve but it will be further reduced.

Seniors' satisfaction with social services in Prachatice

The thesis discusses the satisfaction of senior citizens with social services in Prachatice. My thesis was aimed to identify awareness of senior citizens for social services available in the town of Prachatice. The other aim of my thesis was to identify how seniors are satisfied with the offer and provision of social services in Prachatice. Three research questions were used to achieve the goal. Semi-structured interviews with fourteen senior citizens who utilize social services in Prachatice were used to identify how seniors are informed about social services. Further I wanted to identify how elderly people are content with the offer and availability of social services, and how they are satisfied with the provision of social services, and what could be proposed to improve the offered and delivered social services. The acquired data were analysed using an open data coding method. The collected information indicates that awareness of social services for senior citizens in Prachatice is sufficient. A few proposals were raised by respondents that could increase awareness of available social services. Seniors are partly satisfied with the offer and availability of social services while they are not content with the number of vacancies in the Senior Home. They consider the provision of social services in Prachatice to be sufficient. A high number of respondents would propose to increase vacancies in the Senior Home in order to enhance the social services offered in Prachatice. The respondents would also propose to extend the offer of social services by personal assistance, day care center for elderly, home hospice care and increased number of beds in the Nursing Home for Persons with Cognitive Impairment. The respondents pointed out the possibility of more effective co-operation between providers of social services in Prachatice. The results of my thesis can help increase and make awareness of social services more effective and improve the offer and provision of social services for senior citizens in Prachatice.

Nutrition as the primary prevention for seniors and the influence of way of housing on their eating behavior

This diploma thesis deals with nutrition as the primary prevention for seniors and the influence of way of housing on their eating behavior. With regard to ways of living, they are seniors living in their own household together with a partner, and seniors who live on their own. The aims that are set for this thesis are: mapping eating habits in observed seniros; finding how aware seniors are of nutrition including nutrition recommendations and finding what influence living with a partner or independent living has on eating behavior in observed seniors. To reach the aims a qualitative research method was used. Data colletion was done via semistructured interviews with healthy seniors living in the town of Kaplice. The obtained data was subsequently coded and categorized. I consider the finding of insufficient consumption of fruit, vegetables, milk including dairy products, and an unnecessary intake of candies and sweetened beverages in seniors to be a significant finding. Seniors usually get correct information about nutrition including nutrition recommendations, however, there are certain shortcomings in information about the recommended amounts of fruit and vegetable consumption or foods containing Vitamin D. In connection to the housing issues, a significant influence of independent living on seniors´ tendency to ignore themselves. With regard to the observed shortcomings in both nutrition as well as respondents´ awareness I would recommend an increase in senior education. An information leaflet, which I created and which is also a part of the appendix of this thesis, may serve as a tool.

Business Development in Social Services in the Region

The bachelor thesis focuses on financing of social services in the region. The thesis is specifically aimed at chosen retirement homes in the South Bohemian region. The aim of the study is to analyze and compare the financing of these retirement homes. These homes have different founders - the state, the municipality, or a private entity The theoretical part of the work contains description and explanation of basic terms and definitions, which serve for better understanding of the topic. For the practical part, chosen retirement homes were contacted. Based on personal visits, the data necessary for financial analysis was provided. This data consists of profit and loss statements, annual reports and additional information. In conclusion, the chosen retirement homes were compared in the areas of cost efficiency and profits, which represent the financial sources to cover the costs, using the method of costs per bed in a given time interval. The comparison is aimed at financial resources in the present according to the law n. 108/2006 Coll. about social services.

Characteristics of Old-Age Drivers in Terms of Road Traffic Safety

The aim of this work is to evaluate current procedures and to refine assessment of impact connected to the drivers' age and traffic accidents. The theoretical part describes senior drivers, traffic accident rate of seniors and decreased ability to drive influenced by age. The practical part is case report of traffic accidents caused by senior drivers, measuring reaction time and the evaluation of these measurements. I have developed some proposals for seniors to prevent the risk of the occurrence of traffic accidents.

Area Hornychovice - Štramberk

It is a project of a complex consisting of an apartment building for the elderly, supplemented by a commercial area of the restaurant and the adjoining park area with sports areas for children's, multipurpose, workout and for seniors focused playgrounds. In the immediate vicinity are new family houses and recreational objects of a garden character. The area is a transition between the historic center and the free outpost of the village. The proposed buildings reflect their tradition of folk architecture, preserving the "genius loci" of the village and beyond the edict of the monumental institute.
