Problems in literacy in reading in the second grade at primary school

The diploma thesis focuses on the topic of reading literacy of pupils at the second period of elementary school. The focus of the thesis is a reflexion of chosen literacy workshops. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part deals with the basic terms connected to the topic such as literacy, reading literacy and it also describes the method of literacy workshop. The theoretical part includes also the international researches dealing with the reading literacy and with the methods used to develop the literacy. The practical part describes the realization and the proces of chosen literacy workshops based on direct observation and on reflexion of their development. The last parti of the thesis offers the real interviews with the teachers.
The use of media in men's prison

The aim of thesis The use of media in men's prison is to uncover the relationship between prisoners and media. Futhermore, by using the qualitative method of semi- structured interviews it was also the aim of this thesis to analyse how the prisoners use the media in the time-space framework of everyday life and if the media help to maintain day-to-day routines. This research could be of academic benefit, because this topic is not only largely neglected in the Czech Republic in general, but also in the prison area, especially when considering how to better resocialise prisoners through the utilisation of the media. Practical research is built upon a relevant theoretical basis: the history of the prison, sociological aspects of the prison, and regulation of the media in prison. In the next chapter, the media audience is described, together with an overview of important views of active access audience to media. The following chapter presents methods used when conducting the research, particularly Grounded Theory. The results of the research and interpretations thereof are presented in the final chapter along with respondents' descriptions, research goals and the course of interviews.
Construction of national identity in Eurovision Song Contest: case study

The diploma thesis Construction of National Identity in Eurovision Song Contest: Case Study analyses the ways and forms of shaping the Czech national identity in the Eurovision Song Contest, the largest and most watched international festival of popular music in the world. In particular, the thesis aims to identify the manifestation of identity and self-presentation of the Czech Republic from the point of view of a media institution, in the national selection, in the form of the entry itself, in postcards and video clips as well as through voting and viewer ratings. These findings were attained by the combination of three research methods, namely semi-structured interviews with media professionals, qualitative content analyses of audio- visual materials and secondary data analysis. The theoretical framework presents basic concepts of identity formation and nationalism, and provides an in-depth presentation of the Eurovision Song Contest from geopolitical and sociocultural perspectives. The use of human-oriented approaches in the elderly losing communication skills

My bachelor thesis is aimed on a comparison of two man-oriented approches. It is a psychobiographic model of care according to professor Böhm and reminescence. The intention is to compare the possible use of these models from the view of the workers in the direct daily care in senior houses for clients who are gradually loosing their communication skills. For the comparison, I used a semi-structured interview as a tool of qualitative method. The primary source of information was intently selected respondents from a specific facility, i.e. senior house.
The Use of Facebook by the Czech Municipalities

This diploma thesis discusses the evaluation of the extent and way of using the social network called Facebook by the municipalities of the Central Bohemia Region, participating in the local Agenda 21. The subjects of the research are official Facebook pages of the municipalities on the mentioned social network. Emphasis is placed on revealing the relationships between the characteristics of individual municipalities and their activity, or the way of using Facebook. The theoretical part of the thesis provides definitions of the basic terms and the theoretical background. The research questions are formulated in the Methodology chapter. They are answered in the research section of this thesis by using combination of research methods. Official Facebook pages were created by four municipalities (until the 1 January 2016) from total number of twelve municipalities and small municipalities, participating in the local Agenda 21 in the Central Bohemian Region. According to the results of the econometric analysis, the higher the unemployment rate in these municipalities, the more likely it is that the municipality has an official Facebook page.
Printed Books vs eBooks: What, Why and How Does Generation Y Read?

The aim of the thesis 'Printed Books vs. eBooks: What, Why and How Does Generation Y Read?' is to uncover what motivates a group of young people, specifically twenty students attending universities based in Prague, to choose either printed or electronic books. Furthermore, while using the qualitative method of semi-structured interview it was also the aim of this thesis not only to describe and analyse how important are the social aspects of books as well as the ways of acquiring them, but similarly to get a better understanding of how Generation Y perceives books. For this reason the conducted research could be beneficial to an academic area of interest, while correspondingly valuable for publishers, bookshops or e-reader manufacturers and their marketing strategies. Practical research is built upon a relevant theoretical basis: history of reading, characterization of printed and electronic books, together with a Czech book market summary and an introduction of Generation Y. Interpersonal relationships in school communities

The aim of this work is to gather relevant information about interpersonal relationships in the teaching staff of selected secondary schools and to show how they are perceived, understood, experienced and reflected by their participants. The result of this work is to propose principles and recommendations leading to the optimization of relationships between teachers. This work, in the terms of qualitative research, used the design of case study. Research techniques are semistructured interview and participant observation. Through them, information was gathered on relationships between teachers, teachers and school management and teachers and other people, with whom they come into contact within the scope of their profession. These relationships were then qualitatively analyzed based on open coding, categorization, typology, contrasting, generalization and validation of communication. The result of the investigation was that six schools out of four have the interpersonal relationships on a good level, educators are happy at work and their good mood and feelings are transmitted to the whole school climate. Gender Equality in Preschool Education

The diploma thesis deals with gender aspects of preschool education from kindergartens leading's view. The main aim was to research situation and approach to gender equality in preschool education. Because of it I have decided to focus on knowledge and attitude of leading of kindergartens and their importance to preschool curriculum and also to order of children group from the gender perspective. The theoretical part summarizes findings about school socialization, preschool institutions and documents about curriculum. This part also focus on viewpoint of character of institutional children education, studies of school and preschool socialization and the aspects which are cause for feminization of preschool education. The empirical part introduces the methodological steps of the research. That means method, data collecting or the way of questioning which work on the constructivism and critical theory. Do we need more information? Using of multiple media at the same time

The diploma thesis named "Do we need more information? Using of multiple media at the same time" examines the phenomen of simultaneous media usage in young audience aged 18-35 years. This thesis is based on the hypotheses of international surveys that demonstrate a new trend in consumption of media by which people use multiple media simultaneously. The aim of the thesis is to provide an insight into this issue. The first part defines basic concepts such as the media, media audience and related theories. Furthermore, international studies and their conclusions are presented, serving as a starting point for my own research. The second part presents the research methodology. The thesis makes use of a combination of a quantitative and qualitative approach, the so-called mixed research. The methodological section briefly describes the selected method - survey and an semi-structured interview. The next two sections deal with the implementation of the research itself. The sample consisted of 103 young people for the quantitative part of the survey, and 15 young people for the qualitative analysis section. The conclusion summarizes the research results and approaches each thematic area, including the possible hypotheses.
