Laboratorní test disasortativního párování u hraboše polního - literární rešerše
BÍLKOVÁ, Pavlína
Petrásková P. (2019): Laboratorní test disasortativního párování u hraboše polního - literární rešerše [Laboratory test of disassortative pairing in the common vole - literature search. Bc. Thesis in Czech]-49 pp. , Faculty of Sciences, University of South Bohemia, České Budějovice, Czech Republic. The aim of this work is to use the literature research to map current knowledge about the effect of odour preference on reproductive success in mammals focusing on voles. As assortative pairing is referred to each form of non-random pairing. Most of the time is meant a situation in which individuals who have similar phenotypes pair more often. The opposite is the situation where individuals with different phenotypes pair more often. This is sometimes referred to as negative assortative or disassortative pairing. In particular, this study deals with non-random pairing among to body odour . These are mainly linked to genes for the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) in animals, which play a key role in the immune system. MHC gene products found in various body secretions form the specific odour of each individual. In the research part were searched question for following questions: How is the breeding partner chosen? Is Assortative or Disassortative Pairing More Frequent? What information does body odour convey? What channels is the odour information transmitted and received? How is odour preference testing solved in laboratory conditions? In the practical part, a plan of the experiment is presented in which T-labyrinth will play the main role in determining the odour preference. Under laboratory conditions, voles will have plenty of time to complete the process
The Book Song of Songs as an Answer to Qohelet's Vanity
FILIPOVÁ, Anna
This thesis is concerned with, in the words of Song of Songs, finding an appropriate answer to Qohelet's vanity - vanity of a human life and things that inherently come with it, as Qohelet himself proclaims in his book. The first chapter introduces the Book of Qohelet and aims to capture the main themes of vanity and transience, while also providing the ways out from this situation, as presented by Qohelet. The second chapter introduces the reader to the Song of Songs book while also describing its content which concerns the interpretation of love between a man and a woman. The third chapter brings forward efforts of the author and the main themes and conclusions of the book are analysed. This allows - in the conclusion of this thesis - to answer the question of whether the love in the Songs of Songs is a possible answer to Qoheleth's vanity - the transience of a human life, as brought out by Qohelet in his work.
Olfactory marketing and its sales impact
Šimáčková, Pavla ; Vranka, Marek (advisor) ; Zezulková, Markéta (referee)
The Bachelor's Thesis entitled "Olfactory marketing and its sales impact" addresses the marketing possibilities of our olfactory sense utilisation in marketing. This Thesis is divided into three parts. The first part is supposed to put the readers in the context of the field. It tries to provide the readers with sensory marketing overview since the olfactory marketing is its subcategory. This theoretical part of Thesis includes concepts relating to human sensory perception, a definition of sensory marketing and short description of sensory marketing evolution in history and also nowadays. This chapter is concluded with description of human senses marketing utilisation. The second part is dedicated to olfactory marketing itself. It includes a definiton and also describes a human scent perception and scent impact on human emotions and memory. The olfactory marketing in history and current olfactory marketing utilisation in practice is mentioned, too. An analysis of factors impacting olfactory marketing effectivity and case studies proving positive olfactory marketing impact on sales are the pivotal points of this chapter. Olfactory marketing instruments and their approximate price are also mentioned. All the knowledge coming from the theoretical part will be used in practical part of the Thesis. The...
Evolution of Olfaction in Mammals with Focus on Superorder Laurasiatheria
Vondráčková, Kamila ; Hulva, Pavel (advisor) ; Hanus, Robert (referee)
The evolution history of mammals is connected with the dominance of smell and olfactory communication, which are important sense and communication channels also in recent forms. Two systems are involved in detecting and processing the molecules of scent, the main and the accessory olfactory system. These systems distinguish different types of scents, odorants and pheromones, which are also detected by different types of receptors. Significant factors for comparison of the ability of smell between mammals are both the amount of olfactory genes and the size and complexity of olfactory structures. The main emphasis in this thesis is put on the sensory part of the olfactory system and hence there is effort to support characterization of particular taxa by genomic studies. The ability of smell, respectively amount and variation of olfactory gene repertoires has been formed during the evolution on different circumstances and the ecological adaptation played a great role. The amount and diversity of olfactory receptors vary a lot in mammals and range through anosmatic Cetaceans and microsmatic bats to macrosmatic carnivores. Present thesis is focused to the superorder Laurasiatheria because of its extensive ecological differentiation and diversification of smell abilities (from anosmatic to macrosmatic...
The Use of Scent in Marketing Communication
Polák, Jan ; Halada, Jan (advisor) ; Klabíková Rábová, Tereza (referee)
This bachelor thesis study sense of smell as mean to enhance marketing communication. In theoretical part of the thesis I focused on function of smell on biological level. I paid extraordinary attention to the brain and its function. I explained how the brain works and especially how the scents are being perceived. It is shown how important i tis to understand this topic well. The smell signals go directly to the deepest and oldest parts of our brain called the limbic system. This is where our emotions and memory are being processed. This tight connection between the smell, emotions and memory in some of the most important pieces of information that allows us to use the scent perception in marketing praxis. In the theoretical part of the thesis I mention also psychological effects of the smell such as the Proust phenomenon. This rather poetic term describes an unexpected feeling or long forgotten memory coming on our minds after exposure to certain smells that we have connected with our past experience. The practical part of the thesis is rather descriptive. I cited number of studies from scientific magazines which deal with effects of scents on human minds, perception and emotions, especially connected with practical use in marketing field. I added also some examples of the real companies which already use...
THE ROLE OF SPECIAL CYNOLOGY IN RELATION TO THE PROTECTION OF POPULATION
HOMOLKA, Martin
Civil protection is one of the most important activities governments of all states have to deal with. This certainly happens in civilized world, numerous rescue units and armed forces are involved in civil protection and substantial funds are spent on this activity. Fight against terrorism, the activities of which people all over the world have to face, is highly stressed nowadays. Terrorist attacks are most often aimed against civilians. They are most often led by locating explosive systems at places where large numbers of people gather, setting fires at such places or by actions of shooters who try to injure or kill as many people as possible. This is why civil protection has to involve searching for possible means used for these attacks, namely for explosives, fire accelerants and guns. However it is not only terrorism, which endangers inhabitants. Abusing narcotic and psychotropic substances or similar criminal activities are very dangerous too. These phenomena should be prevented as much as possible or investigated very quickly so as the persons committing such offences can be captured. Finally the bodies participating in civil protection have to be ready to search for lost people in large areas, finding people buried under rubble or avalanches. Dogs, the animal companions closest to a man, can be used in all these activities. The animal has such properties that even nowadays it has its irreplaceable position in numerous activities directly related to civil protection. This thesis describes methods used in special kynology for civil protection; it also describes their uniqueness and irreplaceability.
