This diploma thesis deals with the issues concerning the creation a part of information system for a company that has so far been usány this information subsystems in paper form, which has been ceasing to fulfill the company's requirements and needs. Based on a current situation analysis, deficiencies of the existing information system are discovered, which might be eliminated by several proposed solutions. These proposed solutions are examined through previously chosen criteria and based on this optimalization, the optimal solution will be chosen. Furthermore, this solution will be evaluated from the economic point of view and through other perspective benefits, which the solution might bring for the company.

This bachelor thesis contains a database design for a logging system in a selected company. The proposal itself is based on theoretical background, performed analyzes internal and external environment of the company and internal processes. The resulting design is a database solution containing functionalities that make it easier working with a database, securing a database and supporting managerial planning in the company.

First, we introduce the theoretical bases of work, and then move to the current state and the analysis itself. The result is a design solution that would meet the needs of the owner.

The main task here is make actual work of academic workers more effective and easier to work with human resources management. The first part presents the theoretical foundation required to make this issues easier to understand. This knowledge is used in subscribe and analysis of actual situation and whole proposal is based on that. Proposal’s functionality is demonstrate by tests at the end.

Methods of access to PostgreSQL databases in .NET Framework

The results of this work are two major projects - NpgObjects and PagedDataGridView. NpgObjects is a simple ORM framework to enable the mapping database tables to objects in the common language runtime. It contains a specially designed generator which generates classes in C# from information obtained from the database. These classes are mapping on the database tables one to one. NpgObjects allows all the basic database operations - SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE. PagedDataGridView is a component for displaying tabular data. In cooperation with NpgObjects can paginate database data and manage the flow of data into application. It provides a comfortable user interface, which can easily navigate between different pages of data.

Relations and their applications

The thesis deals with relations and their applications. The first chapter summarizes the introductory theoretical knowledge that is necessary for understanding the topic relations: an element, set, ordered pairs, Cartesian Product. The important definitions are introduced for all of these concepts and the related information is summarized within this chapter. The second chapter defines the concept of relations and operations on them. It includes various types of graphical representations of relations and their advantages and disadvantages. The concept of relation on a set and the properties of this relation alongside with some special types of relations derived from them are introduced in this chapter. The concepts of function are also defined in this part of the thesis. The third chapter indicates the relations that appear in real life - in relationships and games, in curriculum and puzzles. The properties of those relations are determined and the knowledge of relations and their properties is used to facilitate the solution of logical problems. It also supports gaining deeper understanding of those problems. The thesis includes two groups of tasks.
