Use of physiotherapy to restore function after total knee replacement
VORÁČKOVÁ, Marcela
The bachelor thesis deals with possibilities of early physiotherapy of patients after total knee replacement during hospitalization and explores its influence on improvement of the movement of the joint and muscular strength, healing of the surrounding tissues, increasing mobility and independence of the patient. It is divided into a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with the anatomy of the knee joint, its kinesiology and gonarthrosis. Further it contains information about total replacement, the actual surgery, and especially the description of a suitable therapy focused mainly on the postoperative phase during hospitalization and also after the discharge into the home care. The physical therapy and care abroad is also mentioned. The practical part consists of qualitative research. The aim was to compile patient case reports after this surgery and propose a rehabilitation plan for them. During the research, I cooperated with three patients. Each case report includes a medical history, an initial and a final examination with a suggestion of a short-term rehabilitation plan and its description. Moreover, there is an evaluation of the therapy and a draft for a long-term rehabilitation plan. The therapy was conducted every weekday during the hospitalization and the contribution of physiotherapy was evaluated on the basis of the comparison of the initial and final examinations results. All patients experienced a significant improvement in the flexion of the operated joint, gait and independence, increased muscle strength of the limb, decreased swelling and pain, and the pathological barrier of the tissues of the operated limb. However, the elasticity of the scar and tissues around the patella, trigger points and shortened muscle groups were not affected within the time allowed. Physiotherapy have proved to be highly beneficial to all these patients, but during the short time there has been no improvement or restoration of all the aspects observed. Therefore, it is important to continue with regular care even after leaving hospital. This work can be used by students as well as patients, who are about to undergo a surgery of this kind, and other health care staff.
Possibilities of physiotherapy of muscle disbalances among weightlifters
VLASÁK, Martin
The Bachelor's work deals with the topic of muscle disbalances among weightlifters from physiotherapeutic point of view. Due to influence of complex motion pattern's are muscles forced to work in perfect coactivation. As a result of this fact the muscles are much more inclinable to muscle disbalances. Muscle disbalances are created as a result of asymmetric, one-sided and inappropriate load of musculoskeletal system. This pathology can leads to lesion of structure or have a negative impact on the weghtlifters performance. We can include a compensation exercises as a prevention of musculoskeletal overload. The aim of this work is to present the problems of muscle disbalances among weghtlifters from the physiotherapeutic point of view and to offer possibilities of physiotherapeutic methods for prevntion of injuries. The theoretical part describes muscle disbalances. This work describes patomechanism of creation muscle disbalances, their relationship with pain and their sorting to most common clinical syndromes. Furthermore, the issues of weightlifting, the movements and basic exercises are described. The theoretical part also describes examination and physiotherapeutic methods. This fullfils the first aim os the bachelor's work regarding muscle disbalances among weghtlifters. The praction part of bachelor's work is processed by the quality research method. For analysis, the case interpretation of three weghtlifters who are in training proces for they firs weightlifting meet. Every case interpretation involves input and output kinesiological analysis that have eleven parts: complex anamnesis definition, static inspection of aspection and palpation, somatometric inspection, function muscle test, dynamic inspection for spine and lateral pelvis stabilizers, inspection of movements stereotypes, activity of deep stabilization system of the spine, hypermobility tests and shortening of muscle groups tests. Within this therapy, soft tissue techniques, method of dynamic neuromuscular stabilization, Dr. Brügger's concept, exercises wiht thera band, have been used. Based on analysis of obtained data, both, the short-term and long-term individual kinesiotherapeutical plan for all three weghtlifters, has been made. Due to this step the second aim of the bachelor's work was fulfilled, because work show the possibility of particular physiotherapeutic methods for prevention of injuries. The therapy results are positive and confirm selected physiotherapeutical methods as an effective tool against muscle disbalances not just for weightlifters. The deep stabilization systém of the spine has been improved with all three weightlifters also better muscle coactivation as well as reduction of limiting factors could be observed. He bachelor's work can be used by physiotherapists, coaches and even by athletes as a prevention of injuris and improvment of their performances.
Physiotherapeutic Techniques in Shoulder Joint Instability using Kinesio Taping Method
PELEŠKOVÁ, Michaela
This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of physiotherapeutic techniques in shoulder joint instability using the Kinesio Taping Method. It is divided into two parts. In the first theoretical part you can find a chapter dealing with anatomy of the shoulder, biomechanics, kinesiology and instability itself, its types, possible causes, symptoms and treatment including the possibility of conservative as well as operative therapies. The second practical part focuses on various examinations, methods that can be used. There are also the results of the qualitative research which was based on casuistries. I examined four patients at the age range from 21 to 30. The patients underwent an in-and-out kinesiological analysis, a therapy where I tried to find suitable methods for stabilization of the shoulder joint. I also made a long term rehabilitation plan. The first goal of my thesis was to verify the effects of the chosen physiotherapy. The second goal was to prove the suitability of the therapeutic method Kinesio? Taping into therapy. The question of the research was if the planned therapy can improve the shoulder joint instability in case of the chosen patients. Improvement was reached in all cases, however it was not striking. The biggest factor was the cooperation during the therapy, especially the excercises at home. Each person preferred different exercises and different types of Kinesio Taping methods. This thesis can be used in the physiotherapeutic practices and as educational material for patients switch this diagnosis.
Physiotherapy after anatomical shoulder replacement
MARKOVÁ, Monika
For my bachelor thesis I have chosen the topic "Physiotherapy after anatomical shoulder replacement". I have made this choice because of my own interest in this issue. During my study of physiotherapy I encountered literature describing the replacement of the knee and hip joints countless times and also in practice I met many patients after these operations. However, when I came into contact with a patient after shoulder replacement, I found out that I did not have much information about this type of surgery and the issue is not much described in available literature. Because of this reason I decided to focus on this issue and to gather necessary information. In the theoretical part I deal with anatomy and kinesiology of shoulder complex. The important chapter is total shoulder replacement, where I focused specifically on anatomical shoulder replacement. The most important one is the chapter "Rehabilitation", where I described the techniques and methods mostly used after anatomical shoulder replacement. In the practical part I did qualitative research which I divided into two parts. The research was carried out in eight weeks. The research sample consisted of four patients after anatomical shoulder replacement. The first part of the research was performed with two patients. The results were processed by using input and output of kinesiological analysis and clinical examination of the shoulder. This part was focused on chronic problems occurring in a connection with shoulder replacement so I chose the patients who were more than 5 months after the operation. The second part was focused on mapping of the condition before surgery and on the first days after surgery. This part was also performed with two patients at the department of orthopaedic surgery in Nemocnice České Budějovice a.s. The first kinesiological analysis was made the day before the operation, the therapy was done at the department every day from the operation day to the day of discharge. I gave a brochure to the patients with information and description of the physiotherapy after operation. I have found out from the research that regular exercise has increased the range of movement, muscle strength and stability in the shoulder joint. I observe the improvement especially during the examination of goniometry and muscle test. Positive results are also in appearance of ADL (activities of daily living). Conversely, some pathological stereotypes still persist or they are just slightly changed. This bachelor thesis can be used as a study material for orthopaedic staff and physiotherapy students. The brochure can be used for patients after anatomical shoulder replacement.
Physiotherapeutic Techniques for Patients with Achilles Tendon Rupture with Possibility of Using Balance Aids
JIRÁSKOVÁ, Helena
This bachelor thesis deals with physiotherapeutic techniques in Achilles tendon rupture patients with possibility of using balance aids. My personal interest in these problems lead me to select this topic. There is increasing offer of leisure activity connected with increasing injuries of locomotive organs. Rupture of Achilles tendon is one of them and concerns both top sportsmen and those doing sports in leisure time. The preceding degenerative alteration is a frequent cause of the rupture. My thesis consists of a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is a knowledge summary from different disciplines related to this topic. The rupture of Achilles tendon is described in a proper chapter from various aspects etiopathogenesis, mechanism of origin, symptoms, diagnostics and treatment. In the part called therapeutic rehabilitation I described physiotherapeutic methods and concepts I used in therapy. There are two case interpretations of Achilles tendon rupture in the practical part. Investigation was performed using a qualitative form of the initial and final examinations. Based on the initial examination of patients both short-term and longterm rehabilitation plans were prepared with selected physiotherapeutic methods. The goal of my thesis was to evaluate the influence of injury on the locomotive organ and gait patttern. Based on results (comparison of initial a final examinations) the long-term rehabilitation plan was suggested with a participation of balance aids. Physiotherapy shows to be a very contributive by means of the used methods as the tested parameters improved. Soresness in heel and scarf decreased, movement in talar joint to dorsal and plantar flexions improved as well as the muscle strength of m. triceps surae. The values of anthropometry changed. The therapy had a smaller effect on the gait pattern. This thesis can serve to education of students and physiotherapy assistants, but also to patients and public.
