Petrů, Jan ; Cebe, Jan (advisor) ; Bednařík, Petr (referee)
This thesis Development of the Rudé právo during 1972 - 1991 discusses the activities and developments of this journal and its editors at a time when in Czechoslovakia began the period of normalization, causing compaction ratios and purges especially among journalists. The other titles had to respond to this situation, including the Rudé právo itself, which was, however, in exceptional circumstances, as reported directly to the directives of the Central Committee of the Communist Party. In the Rudé právo so appeared only official information (political, social, cultural and sports), which corresponded to the ideology of the Communist Party. It is therefore interesting to investigate this periodical in the context of contemporary events and to analyze its activities in connection with the fact that we now have. The editor's work was based on the discussions and proposals adopted at a meeting of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and its Secretariat, whose member was also editor in chief of the Rudé právo. The journal had automatically secured the highest allocations of newsprint, even during the late '80s, when it was real shortage of this material. After 1990, when began the consolidation of printed periodicals, the Rudé právo transformed into a joint-stock company whose majority...

Polouček, Oto ; Altman, Karel (advisor) ; Hlaváček, Jiří (referee)
Tramping represents a uniquely Czech phenomenon as a form of leisure in contact with nature as well as a sort of informal pooling. It starts off at the beginning of the interwar period in Czechoslovakia, develops during the so called normalization Era (1969-1989) and continues to exist up to the present days. The main objective of this thesis is to highlight some of the basic conditions of the development of this phenomenon in certain examined periods of time by means of an analysis of life stories. The focus shall be located on specific forms of motivation for tramping, values associated with this activity by the trampers and the role of the collective in the activity. The Normalization Era is particularly interesting for an exploration of the relationship between tramping and power in authoritarian environments such as those from our recent History. The main, albeit not the exclusive research materials for this diploma thesis, has been taken from narrative sources. The study concentrates on the city of Brno as a particularly active location in which tramping activities have been taking place all along a extensive period of time in History. Czechoslovakia in 1968-1977 and its image in serial Vyprávěj
Menšíková, Iva ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Dominik, Šimon (referee)
My dissertation is dedicated to the problem of media construction of history in the case of the television series Vyprávěj. It concentrates on how much the series' adaptation of historical events and normal life in the era of normalization between 1968 and 1977 fits reality by comparing concrete historical events and key societal activities with their adaptation in the series. The work focuses on three special categories - fundamental historical events of that era, people's normal life and the lives of dissidents, with a final objective of finding out how well the series' adaptation matches the true history of the normalization era. First, I delimit the problem of television series in general and address the concept of seriality on the basis of the professional literature. Then I focus on the media construction of reality and representation history in culture, especially in television series. Because the series Vyprávěj addresses recent history, I also mention collective memory. After that I concentrate only on the series Vyprávěj and the problem of normalization in Czechoslovakia, in which era the story takes place. The second part of the dissertation is dedicated to concrete events of the era - how they really happened according to the professional literature and narration of contemporary...
