Theory, practice and prospects of foster care in the Czech Republic Abstract The thesis deals with the issue of foster care, as a traditional private law institute of alternative family care, which has significant public law features. The aim of the thesis is to provide a comprehensive view of the legal regulation of foster care de lege lata not only from a theoretical perspective, but also to point out some practical consequences of the application of the legal regulation in question. Part of the thesis is also devoted to the prospects of regulatory developments of foster care following the upcoming legislative changes in the field of alternative care for children. If, from objective or subjective reasons, the child's parents cannot personally care for the child, the state must ensure a suitable alternative care for such a child. One of these forms of alternative care is foster care, which provides a solution to the lack of personal care for child by his or her parents in an environment that resembles a family as much as possible. That is why foster care holds an irreplaceable position within the system of alternative care for children. Educational processes focusing on health education in children's homes

This diploma thesis is focused on finding out the educational procedures used by educators in orphanages related to health education. The theoretical part discusses the concepts of health education and institutional care in the Czech Republic. In the practical part was ascertained the view of educators and head educators in orphanages on the physical and mental health of entrusted children and their eating and drinking habits. These data were collected by creating a self designed survey, containing 28 questions. The results obtained from the survey show that 66,7 % of educater respondents are sufficiently engaged in physical activity of children, 69,4 % talks to children about healthy eating and 77,8 % of educater respondents know some techniques of stress regulation.
Speech therapy intervention in institutional education

The diploma thesis on the topic "Speech therapy intervention in institutional education" deals with the issue of implementation of speech therapy intervention for children growing up in institutional education and requiring speech therapy. The individual chapters of the theoretical part focus on speech and its functions; describe the ontogenetic development of speech, impaired communication ability, and briefly characterise different types of impairment. The theoretical part deals with the speech therapy intervention in its entirety, i.e. diagnostics, therapy, and prevention. It also includes a short insight into the speech therapy intervention system in other countries. Lastly, the theoretical part of the work focuses on the area of substitute educational care and describes its influence on the development of the child. The practical part aimed to find out information about the implementation of speech therapy in selected institutional education facilities in Prague and the Central Bohemian Region. System of care for vulnerable children in the Czech Republic - its determinants and ways out

This thesis deals with the System of care for vulnerable children in the Czech Republic and the increasing number of children in institutional care. While processing was used mainly qualitative methods of collecting data through its own survey in the offices of municipalities with extended competence of employees engaged in the exercise of social and legal protection of children and interviews with selected staff of facilities for institutional care. There was also carried out a secondary analysis of data. Finally, there are some partial measures, whose implementation could improve the situation of vulnerable children in society and reduce the number of children placed in institutional care.
The various forms of alternative institutional child care in the Czech Republic

The bachelor thesis focusses on psychological issue of institutional care in the first part. The beginning devotes to historical development of alternative care of children up to present. The thesis focusses on issue of taking a child from the primary family and placing him or her to the institutional care. It devotes the topic of risk parents and children. A big part of the thesis relates to mental deprivation, its definition, reactions' typology, diagnostic and psychotherapy. In the next part, there are described the psychological development's specialities of mentally deprived children, then a child's return to the primary family, a child's transition to alternative care, and the issue of individuals leasing the institutional care after reaching their legal age. Last part deals with specific topics connected with alternative care concerning children with ethnic differences or with special needs. A quantitative study detecting the influence of long-term stay in the institutional care on economical behaviour and attitudes is designed in the second part. Transformation and Deinstitutionalization in Substitutional Child Care System in the Czech Republic

Substitutional child care is an indispensable part of system of social and legal protection of children. Until 1989, institutional care was preferred, while after the fall of communist government it had been gradually replaced by substitutional family care, because of the inappropriateness of institutional care to fully compensate for family environment. Deinstitutionalization means transforming the system of placing children to alternative care and it is understood as transition from institutional care to types of substitutional family care, eventually to more individual type of care with more family character. An amendment to the Social and Legal Children Protection Act, which aimed at transforming the system of substitutional care towards more individual work with endangered children, came into force in 2013. The amendment restored the institute of temporary foster care and modified the institute of long-term foster care. Substitute family care in the Czech Republic

This dissertation is concerned with the issues surrounding substitute family care in the Czech Republic and presents an analysis of its legal regulation as set out in both private law and public law regulations. The term substitute family care encompasses several independent legal institutions, which together form a system serving to protect children at risk who cannot grow up in their own family. The system of substitute care is divided into family-type individual care on the one hand and collective care provided in institutional facilities on the other. This dissertation examines the historical development of forms of substitute care, analyses their current legal regulation, including procedural regulation, and evaluates the interconnectedness and mutual harmoniousness of individual legal regulations. It analyses the inner workings of the substitute care system and delineates the rights and obligations of entities which enter into it in various capacities, with an emphasis on how the fulfilment of the rights of a minor is enforced and how their best interest is considered. Options in Sharing Childcare within Family Support

1 Abstract The diploma thesis deals with three innovative models of childcare. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The object of the work is to inform about innovative child care models and to map the implementation possibilities of one described model. The theoretical part deals with the theme of family and its importance for the society. The disorders of family, reasons for child removals out of family, prevention of family failures and family preservation are farther described in this part. Other chapters are focused on already mentioned three models of care. The first model describes sharing care within providing support of volunteers, the second model inheres in sharing care within the residential care and the last model describes the sharing care within care provided by foster parents. The practical part addresses the research which was undertaken as semi-structured dialogs with social workers of foster parents and with foster parents too. A part of the research is formed by the analyse of reasons for child removals out of family. It was found out within the research that the implementation possibilities of sharing care within care provided by foster parents are low with regards to its demandingness and the general settings of our society.
