Automatic smoothing 3D models of cranial embryonic mouse cartilage
Kočendová, Kateřina ; Harabiš, Vratislav (referee) ; Jakubíček, Roman (advisor)
The focus of this thesis is the smoothing of manually segmented 3D models of mouse embryo craniofacial cartilege. During the process of manual segmentation, artefacts and other imperfections appear in the final models and need to be repaired. Firstly, manual segmentation is corrected using gradients and thresholding. Subsequent smoothing methods are constructed based on theoretical research. Algorithmizing is executed in the MATLAB environment. All the designed algorithms are then tested on selected models. Statistical evaluation is determined using the Srensen–Dice coefficient, where manually smoothened models cleared of all artefacts are used as the gold standard.
Strategie rozvoje kongresového a veletržního cestovního ruchu v Brně
Savićová, Simona
SAVIĆOVÁ, S. Strategy of Congress and Trade Fair Tourism Development in Brno. Diploma thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno. 2015. The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze actual state of congress and fair tourism in Brno and to recomend strategic alternatives. For finding the results there was used secondary data and qualitative research which consisted of questionnaires with three key groups of respondents. The current organizers of congress and conferences in Brno, the congress hotels and the organizers, who made or used to make an event in Brno in the past, but then have changed the location for their event. The thesis is divided into theoretical part, methodology of the research, the analysis of the current state and strategic alternatives recommendation. The result shows that the main weaknesses of the city are: bad transport to the city, an absence of relationship between the city and the event organizers, lack of conference buildings, not enough of flights coming to Brno, low international awareness about Brno, insufficient modern Brno´s traid fair pavilions and high temperature in the center of the city during summer. For these problems were strategic alternatives made. In discussion, the last chapter, the results will be discussed and the improvement recommendations suggested.
Úloha osy PD-1/PD-L1 při infekci \kur{Borrelia burgdorferi} u myší
PALOUNKOVÁ, Anna
Borrelia burgdorferi, the causative agent of Lyme disease, induces upregulation of inhibitory immune checkpoint PD-L1 in mice. We studied if the blockade of PD-1/PD-L1 axis by neutralizing antibodies influences the proliferation of T lymphocytes and cytokine milieu in imunological synapsis between murine dendritic cells and T cells in vitro.
Determination of tick-pathogen interactions during acquisition and transmission of Borrelia duttonii by Ornithodoros moubata
ĆETKOVIĆ, Ana
The goal of this thesis was to investigate the interaction between Borrelia duttonii, a causative agent of TBRF in Africa, and its tick vector Ornithodoros moubata in terms of acquisition and transmission dynamics. The infectivity of frozen sera and infected unfed O. moubata ticks was evaluated. The acquisition efficiency of B. duttonii 1120K3 and Ly isolates by O. moubata was determined and compared. The minimum acquisition time was established as well. Moreover, the sensitivity of Borrelia in the presence of different animal sera was analysed.
Antivirotické účinky biologicky aktivních látek z přírodních zdrojů v kombinaci s imunomodulačními látkami proti viru klíšťové encefalitidy
ČERNÝ, Jan
The aim of this study is focused on substances from the nature as a potentional treatment against tick-born encephalitis virus. The research of this master thesis can be divided into two sections. The first one is about choosen derivatives of adamantane, their cytotoxic effect on neuron cell lines and the determination of their antivirotic properties in vitro. For these purposes was used the combination of MTT assay, plaque titration assay and one-step qRT-PCR. The second part of this work verified the capability of choosen stilbenes to prolong the life of BALB/c mice which were infected by tick-born encephalitis virus.
Animal models of obsessive-compulsive disorder
Radostová, Dominika ; Stuchlík, Aleš (advisor) ; Kopřivová, Jana (referee)
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is a widespread chronic psychiatric disorder, presenting itself with a wide range of symptoms. The heterogenity of OCD manifestations hinders the resarch and the interpretation of acquired results. Clinical studies are complemented by new insights collected from studies of animal models of OCD, which are nowdays integral to the resarch of OCD. During the course of the resarch many genetic, behavioral and pharmacologic animal models were developed. Number of works were not worked on further, however some models had been studied for a long time. Evaluation of individual models is dependant on many factors, and therefore the degree of validity and suitability for resarch differs between them. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Impact of stable ghrelin receptor agonists and antagonists on food intake regulation
Holubová, Martina
The thesis is focused on the effect of ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a) agonists and antagonist on food intake regulation. Ghrelin is the only known periferally produced orexigenic hormone and the only known acylated hormone. GHS-R1a agonists and antagonists could be useful in the treatment of cachexia and obesity, respectively. In the first part of the thesis, newly designed peptidic GHS-R1a agonists were characterized. The agonists were stabilized by replacing octanoylated Ser3 with a fatty acid coupled to diaminopropionic acid by a stable amide bond. Other noncoded amino acids were also incorporated. Ghrelin analogs were modified by replacing the octanoyl group with another fatty acid, incorporation of the second fatty acid or shortening the peptide chain. Most of the tested GHS-R1a agonists were found to possess high affinities for GHS-R1a (Ki = 10-9 - 10-10 nM) and to activate signaling pathways of ghrelin. After subcutaneous (SC) administration to mice, agonists showed significant and prolonged orexigenic effect. In the second part of the thesis, acute and long-term effects of pseudopeptide GHS- R1a agonist JMV1843 were tested in lean C57BL/6 mice. Acute SC administration of JMV1843 to fed mice increased food intake in a dose-dependent manner (ED50 = 1.94 mg/kg). JMV1843 was stable in blood serum...

Imputation of missing values in clinical data
BIRKLBAUER, Micha Johannes
Imputation of missing data is a crucial step in data analysis since many statistical methods require complete datasets. In that regard MissForest imputation is a powerful tool that seems to outperform most other imputation approaches. This analysis evaluates how good imputation using MissForest is compared to other methods like imputation by Multivariate Imputation by Chained Equations (MICE), Restricted Boltzmann Machines (RBM) or the standard strawman (mean) imputation in a clinical dataset that is used to predict the mortality of patients after heart valve surgery.
