Map skills' development in history, mathematics and biology
Havelková, Lenka ; Hanus, Martin (advisor) ; Kučerová, Silvie Rita (referee)
The presented bachelor thesis deals with map skills' development in history, mathematics and biology at lower and upper secondary schools. Map skills tend to be seen as part of geographic skills so the issue related to their development in other subjects isn't researched enough. The first part of this thesis concerns with the use of map skills in everyday life, and summarizes evidence of their importance in various subjects. Based on the research focused on chosen subjects (history, mathematics, biology) are subsequently suggested particular possibilities of map skills' development. The aim of the practical part of this work that examines the development of map skills in terms of intended and implemented curriculum is to evaluate their status in education at Czech schools and also to reflect theoretically oriented chapters. As researched methods the analysis of textbooks and the questionnaire survey are used. Keywords: map, map skills' development, history, mathematics, biology, analysis of textbooks, questionnaire survey
Semiotic and anthropological analysis of Prague metro
Brabcová, Adéla ; Marcelli, Miroslav (advisor) ; Šafaříková, Radana (referee)
Presented diploma work called "Semiotic and anthropological analysis of Prague metro" shows metro to a reader as a place from a semiotic point of view. A metro "user" plays a key role in the whole diploma work. Apart from dealing with metro as a place, this work also regards a reference of a fixed structure of metro to a city. The work also pays attention to an analysis of signs that can be found there by a metro user and can serve him as a useful tool for better orientation there. In the theoretical part semiotics as a science and its approaches are being presented. The diploma work also deals with a topic of a city from an antropological point of view. It applies, for example, a question of place and nonplace, picture of a city or a map and itineraries. The applied part of the work presents use of the theory in Prague metro. It also deals with orientation, navigational sign systems and comunication systems. Other topic examined in this diploma work is a role of Prague metro and its city surroundings in a mental city mapping done by its user. Besides, the work shows the metro and its surroundings as a place of everyday life. Keywords: Semiotics, sign, communication, binary opposition, connotation, denotation, text, city, image map, places and non-places, place and space, map, itinerary, everyday...
Deleuze and Communication. Rhizom as a Model of Artistic Communication
Sluková, Tereza ; Fišerová, Michaela (advisor) ; Michalovič, Peter (referee) ; Dadejík, Ondřej (referee)
In this work, I examine the hypothesis that the territorial nature of a work of art, as defined by Gilles Deleuze, provides the lexicon for the establishment of artistic communication. Confronted with Deleuze's critical grasp of the notion that communication is creative, we are required to rethink the positions of interpretation and representation in experiencing artwork. This effort commences with the proposal of a communication model based on the qualitative aspects of communication that support the semiotic nature of artistic creation. Thus, it can be established that the communicative essence of art is not based on the transmission of a specific meaning, but rather an emphasis on the affective plane of sharing. Such shift presupposes the fusion of the individual roles of the functionality of the communication scheme and the focus on the performative level of reception. Keywords: Deleuze, communication, art, map, performative reception
Generating text descriptions of journeys in a map
Svobodová, Zuzana ; Rosa, Rudolf (advisor) ; Mareček, David (referee)
This thesis aims to present the key aspects of a program developed for the purpose of improving orientation in maps by generating text description of routes. Even though such tools are already available and integrated within the most widely used internet map engines (e.g. maps.google.com and mapy.cz), they are not particularly user-friendly, as they rely on directions and distances. People are, on the other hand, more inclined to use landmarks such as significant buildings for orientation and synthetize simple information into more complex one. The program presented in this thesis addresses this issue and offers more intuitive route descriptions enabling its user to reach his/her destination potentially faster and more reliably.
Application for Efficient Drone Control Using Augmented Virtuality
Hubinák, Róbert ; Bambušek, Daniel (referee) ; Beran, Vítězslav (advisor)
The aim of this work is to identify problematic situations that may occur when piloting a drone and based on them design elements of the user interface that would eliminate these problems. The proposed elements were implemented in an existing drone control application. The resulting solution uses the technology of augmented virtuality and augmented reality, where supporting visualization elements are inserted directly into the 3D scene and real data from the drone. In my work, I created a system that allows the pilot to define clues in the scene in the form of a mission, extends the application with a navigation system to these points and adds to the application elements that show the pilot the direction and distance of approaching obstacles.

Mobile App for Notifying about Reaching a Location
Ungrová, Klára ; Szőke, Igor (referee) ; Herout, Adam (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to create a simple Android application which will be able to send notifications when entering or exiting a zone of user's interest and will overall ease the process of informing other people. Detection of entering/exiting zone is based on the principles of geofencing. SQLite database is used to save user's zones of interest (and details about them) persistently. When crossing the boundaries of a zone of interest, a user receives a notification - by clicking on it a user has the opportunity to send the message to other person. The message to be sent can be preset for every zone (both for entering and exiting). It is possible to activate/deactivate the monitoring of any zone any time. A user can display zones on the map. There is a possibility to send a trial explanatory notification for user to better understand its functionality. The foreground service which takes care of retrieving up-to-date location is running even if the app is swiped away from running applications. To kill the application, the switch off button in the app needs to be pressed. The main focus of this work is design, implementation and testing of the mobile application. The final version has been published to Google Play store.
