A comparative analysis of Czech and Slovak librarian periodicals

(anglicky): The subject of the my thesis are Czech and Slovak periodicals in the field of library and information science - their concise history, determination of the current terminology in this field and publishing work, description of the editorial staff and the roles of its members, reviewing procedure and editorial work applied to specific examples of both printed and electronic media, specification of formal appurtenances of a specialized article, citation and information ethics. The following chapter deals with the characteristics of the current specialized periodicals issued in the Czech and Slovak Republic. The research oriented part focuses upon the topical analysis of library periodicals, further the results of two questionnaires relating to editorial work are discussed as well as various preparatory stages of a specialized periodical. In the research part analyse the situation of regional library in district Nymburk during the year 2010. Internet, public libraries and information policy in Cuba

The aim of this thesis is to present the development and current state of information policy and public libraries in Cuba. The first part of thesis outlines historical and political development in Cuba since the beginning of the revolution in 1959 to the present and introduces the development of selected areas of information policy on the island. The second part analyzes the expansion of information and communication technologies, including Internet and its censorship. The last part of thesis summarizes historical development and current state of public libraries and partially librarianship.

XX. Meeting of the National Commission for Services of the Slovak Republic

Participation in the 20th Annual Meeting of the National Commission for Services aiming at cooperation between Slovak libraries and sharing examples of good practice in providing services and accessing electronic information resources. The NTL experience was also presented in the event. The benefit of the event was also the opportunity to exchange experiences and to discuss the current problems with colleagues from the Slovak Republic.

The bachelor thesis is focused on a development of libraries and librarianship. Specifically, on the historical development in the Czech lands. The first part briefly describes the development of libraries and librarianship in historical periods. The second part mentions important individuals in the field of librarianship and the development of librarianship as a profession. The third part focuses on specific types of libraries and historically significant libraries. Based on selected sources, there are mentioned palace libraries, burgher libraries or monastery libraries and their peculiarities.
Special libraries in the 21st century - the entity-relationship model and the model of system library services

The dissertation is devoted to the analysis of the environment and the future prospects of special libraries. Knowledge has been achieved by direct observation, conceptual modeling and content analysis of scientific documents. Universum of special library can be expressed as an entity- relational model. Document services, which are based on the theoretical framework of information management, are proving to be the most important service in special libraries. Management of special libraries is based on knowledge of the information needs of the user community and the methodology of library processes. Library services are interconnected and the system can be expressed in the form of mind maps. Processes and services of special libraries can provide data for information-science research.
