The development of Dagmar Damkova's media image in 2003-2017

The main topic of this diploma thesis is the development of Mrs. Dagmar Damková media image between 2003-2017. Mrs. Damková is a former football referee and became the first woman who managed a football match in the Czech 1st Men's League in 2003. She has been professionally successful and popular with the public and the media in a purely male environment. She has become one of the world's best female referee and has been managing the prestigious games of the biggest foreign events. She ended her career as a referee in 2011 and began her new career path as a functionary. Besides this, she became a chairwomen of the Committee of the Referees of the Football Association of the Czech Republic. She was directly responsible for the actions of the referees, and was therefore often criticized by the media. Her relationship with the influential but controversial functionary Roman Berbr was also known to the public at that time, which has increased the interest of her person from the media. Mrs. Damková had withdrawn from the public after leaving the Refereeing Commission and the media did not refer to her so often. The influence of isokinetic force on CODS performance of football players

Title: The influence of level of isokinetic force on CODS performance of football players. Objectives: The main goal is comparison of influence between isokinetic power of lower limbs and performance in CODS tests. Method: Measured group consisted of players between 15 - 19 years old from teams Motorlet Praha and Bohemians Praha. Measurement took 3 months. Players of one age category passed the tests batery in one day, that consist of agility (Arrowhead L and R, Illinois, K-test, Hexagon test, 505 L and R), Cybex was used to find informations about isokinetic force. Results: The biggest correlation was between isokinetic (IK) force and performance in CODS tests was measured between IK tests and CODS test Illinois -0,443. Other tests had from very weak to average correlation. The worst correlation was found between IK tests and Hexagon test -0,007, which showed insignificant correlation between these tests. Concentric muscle contraction achieved higher correlation than eccentric muscle contraction and with changinging degree speed was correlation in concentric muscle contraction lower, while eccentric muscle contraction correlation was slightly higher in faster degree speed. Football Event Recognition for Spatiotemporal Data of Gaming Objects

This diploma thesis deals with automatic soccer event detection . Its goal is to introduce reader to this issue , discuss possible ways of solution of this task and then implement event detection . This work aims at event recognition using spatio - temporal data of gaming objects . Introduced way of dealing with event detection lies in its converting to sequence labeling task . Then such task is solved using LSTM recurrent neural networks . Lastly , result of sequence labeling is interpreted as detected events . Library for event detection has been created as the output of this work . This library allow user to experiment with different variants how to formulate event detection as sequence labeling task .
Rowdies and their image in Czech press in the 1980s

My bachelor thesis is focused on the Czech press in the 1980s and its tendencies to describe so-called rowdies and their negative impact not only on the football environment but also on society in general. My thesis will mainly focus on rowdies and the way they were portrayed by the Czech press at that time. In the first part, I am going to characterize rowdies and some related terms as well as the historical context. I am also going to present the great football tragedies of the 20th century that took place in Europe and therefore also in Czechoslovakia. In the main part of my thesis, I'm going to analyze 4 domestic newspapers or magazines and show how they informed our society about these incidents and rowdies.
Football as a means of expression of Serbian political radicalism in the 21st century

Bachelor thesis is focused on the issue of expressing radical political opinions during the football matches in Serbia. First part of this thesis is dedicated to the historical background of the Serbian nationalism, its connection to the region of Kosovo and its relationship with other Balkan nations and countries. Examined topics in the first chapter were the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, Tito's and Miloševićov's states of Yugoslavia and the final dissolution of the Balkan states during the late 90s and the first decade of the 21st century. Second chapter is dedicated to the general introduction of radical political presentations during the football matches and introduced specific incidents that occurred during the games. Moreover, the second part explained the hooliganism problematics and its connection to the radical political manifestations in Serbia. The main aim of the thesis is to prove whether the football matches are used for expression of the Serbian political radicalism and whether the manifestated actions were related to the events of the Serbian history. A Comparison of Media Coverage of FC Viktoria Plzeň and AC Sparta Praha in Selected Czech Media

Diploma thesis deals with comparation of media content of two journals - Sport and Mladá fronta DNES. The research is focused on few periods during one year of first czech football league. On this basis and with help of czech and foriegner experts knowledge, the thesis tries to answer the question, wheather Sport journal favors AC Sparta Praha club in their published materials and vice versa FC Viktorie Plzen club. To answer this question, it uses a comparative qualitative content analysis method. It is based on a set of articles from three periods of the autumn part of the football season and three periods from spring part. It takes into account not only texts of articles, but also, for example, the front pages or subtitles that are an important part of the daily press content. The research results are continuously summarized after each one of the periods and at the end there is a complete summary and final answer to the research question. The research resulted in finding that - considering the article contents - that in Sport journal materials published in examined periods there was no significant favoring of Sparta Praha. On the contrary - in the topics representation considering Sparta and Plzen there was an outweight toward Letná and the same can be applied to front pages to certain extent.
US Collegiate Football Analysis: Team's Success as an Indicator of Academic Performance

American football as the most popular sport in the US higher education attracts millions of students to compete in various leagues under the supervision of the National Collegi- ate Athletic Association. Matches between the top university teams that are part of the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision belong to the most attractive and historical rival- ries bring high fan support and media attention. However, this also comes with greater stress for competing student-athletes and thus the impact of losing on their psychological state outside the pitch should not be understated. Following previous studies about the impact of collegiate football, this analysis used data about 114 Division I-FBS teams across 13 years to examine the effect of football performance on the academic results of student-athletes. The results showed positive and significant effects of relatively success- ful season on the academic performance of players, whose mentality towards studying and socialization outside football improve in case of a successful season. This supports a phenomenon called "football chicken soup", which states that success in extracurricular activities improve the students' ability to adjust for college life and thus improve their academic results.
