Methodology of electrolytic metal cleaning methods using an electrolyte based on modified gels
Rapouch, Karel ; Hájková, Kateřina ; Selucká, Alena ; Perlík, Dušan ; Kouřil, Milan
The methodology aims to provide simple instructions for conservators-restorers on how to set suitable conditions for local and gentle cleaning of corrosion products of silver and copper, in order to avoid mechanical damage to the surface of the object and influence of surrounding (especially organic) materials in the case of multi-material objects of a cultural heritage. As part of the methodology, various gels were studied in terms of their physico-chemical properties and their compatibility with chemicals from which an electrolyte can be prepared for the electrolytic cleaning of metal surfaces. Artificially patinated samples and selected real objects were used for the experiments. Furthermore, the possibility of using gel electrolytes for the study of corrosion products by the method of polarization measurements was investigated. The methodology can be applied not only in the improvement of procedures for the treatment of museum collection items, but also in the field of processing archaeological finds or in teaching conservation-restoration students and other related fields of cultural heritage care.

The National Archival Collection of the Czech Republic
Svobodová, Eliška ; Vorlíčková, Blanka (advisor) ; Šípek, Richard (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to introduce the The National Archival Collection of the Czech Republic (CR NKF). The library collection is absolutely unique in its main objective that is to collect all Czech and foreign bohemical printed and non-printed documents, including journals since 1901. This thesis aims to introduce this collection both in a historical and current context, especially via library line or through ongoing projects in cooperation with the CR NKF. In the end, the work exaplains long-term protection and preservation of modern library collections in foreign countries and compares it with the situation in the NKF in the Czech Republic.

The multidisciplinary criteria for selecting, preparation and processing of a replacement stone for ashlar masonry were implemented in restoration and conservation of the Castle of Kost battlements – one of the most authentically survived medieval fortification monuments in the Czech Republic. Detailed description of undertaken surveys, preparation and interventions carried out within the repair process.

Criteria for selecting, preparation and processing of a replacement stone for ashlar masonry restoration – sedimentary rocks
Bláha, Jiří ; Kovářová, K. ; Buzek, Jaroslav ; Panáček, M. ; Cihla, M. ; Rafl, T. ; Hejný, L. ; Rybařík, V. ; Chamra, S. ; Schröfel, J.
Geologists, structural engineers, construction historians, conservationists and restorers formulated their views on the relevant intensity of interventions, the replacement stone quality and also the parameters of processing by craftsmen. Methodical guidelines define the necessary level of adequate historical, technological and structural surveys and, subsequently, propose an optimal procedure for laboratory tests and for the following repair processes of a particular structure.

Dopady umísťování osvětlovacích soustav v historických objektech
Polomová, Beata
The article deals with problems of indoor lighting in historic buildings. These are consequences of placing the built-in electrical system which affects the cultural and historical values by modernization of the building. There are interventions into building construction. The methodology of heritage preservation applies the principle of reversibility in new interventions. Its fulfilments in practice is difficult since it requires careful preparation for implementation. In this contribution we present a selection and description of frequent situations. In the end we refer comments for practice on designing and methodology for protection of cultural heritage.
