Veřejné zakázky ve zdravotnictví
Počarovský, Jiří ; Janský, Petr (advisor) ; Maršál, Aleš (referee)
This thesis is focused on public procurement issues. Competitive tendering provides great scope for inefficient allocation of resources. This work studies such scope theoretically. Transaction costs, pressure on price and quality of services, influence of competition on price and impact of for profit and not for profit status of the service providers are discussed. These aspects are then tested on empirical data. The data come from public contracts announced by 111 selected hospitals in the Czech Republic in 2006 - 2009. Ordinary least squares and least absolute deviations are employed. The results indicate that a higher number of bids implies a lower final price. The second conclusion is that the open tender procedure reduces the final price compared to other types of proceedings.

Habitat requirements and competition between native and invasive Impatiens species
Čuda, Jan ; Skálová, Hana (advisor) ; Prach, Karel (referee)
Three of Impatiens species are widespread in the Czech republic, one is native, two of them invasive. Because all species occur in relatively similar habitats, the question is, whether the invasive species can negatively affect the native species, or even the original can can be displaced. The aim of the thesis was: (i) to compare habitat requirments of the Impatiens species, (ii) to determine if the coexistence of species is possible, (iii) to assess the impact of invasive species to the original species. The investigation was carried out using two sets of permanent plots in 5 localities. In the first set with a total of 84 plots (combinations of occurrence of the three species) site characteristics as tree cover, soil humidity, slope and bare land cover were directly measured and nutrient, light, humidity and soil reaction characteristic assessed using Ellenberg indicator values. The second set contained a total of 45 plots with one of the native-invasive congener pair being removed and the intact controls. Number, cover and height of the plants were assesed. The key enviromental factors determining distribution of the species were soil moisture for I. noli-tangere and I. parviflora, and tree cover for I. glandulifera and I. parviflora. Ellenberg indicator values had poor explanation value;...
Biotic interactions in epiphytic lichen communities
Černajová, Ivana ; Svoboda, David (advisor) ; Peksa, Ondřej (referee)
The objective of my bachelor's thesis is to review available literature on biotic interactions in epiphytic lichen communities. At first the epiphytic habitat is defined. The next part deals with the interactions, specifically competition and predation. Lichens compete for light and space among each other and with other cryptogams at the same time. There are a few known mechanisms of competition, most of them being based on overgrowing of thalli and chemical action. Thallus morphology, growth rate and content of allelochemicals are the main traits determining success in competition. Competitive abilities depend on various abiotic factors as well as on total composition of the community. Lichens are forced to invest in chemical defence by the presence of herbivores and parasites. Distribution of the defence substances matches the optimal defence theory. There is numerous evidence that biotic interactions modify characteristics of both individuals and species, mainly considering the secondary metabolites content and the width of the realized ecological niche. Competitors and predators may determine species distribution. The thesis summarises the knowledge of the mechanism, character and impact of the competition and predation in epiphytic lichen communities. Key words: lichens, cryptogams, epiphytes,...
