World Cocoa Market and Global Production of Cocoa

This bachelor thesis deals with the world market of cocoa beans. It aims to describe the global cocoa production and the most important producing countries as well as analyze collected data of trade flows with this commodity. The work is divided into three interrelated parts. The first chapter is dedicated to the general characteristic of the cocoa tree and the history of its growing. The second chapter presents the quantity of the production in particular areas of harvesting during the second half of the twentieth century and at the same time it mentions business relations between producers and consumers. The last chapter raises the issue of Fair Trade on the example of cocoa.
Position of BRIC countries on selected international commodity markets

The bachelor thesis analyzes position of BRIC countries on international commodity markets with coffee, natural gas, gold, coal and iron ore in context with recent development of their economies. International economics theory is applied to put their global stance and engagement in international trade under scrutiny. Involvement in regional integrations is also briefly discussed. Brazil is key supplier of coffee to global markets and Russia enjoys prominent position in production of natural gas, whereas Indian demand moves the gold market. Chinese demand is fundamental for development of trade with coal and iron ore. Further in the paper the ability to influence market price of given commodities by the countries is analyzed and humble attempts of modest future development predictions are made.
Market analysis of unconventional assets (gold, commodities).

The main intention of this thesis is to provide theoretical and practical insight on commodity markets, specifically on gold and silver markets. The introductory section defines the basic characteristics and relationships between commodity and financial markets.The second section describes in detail the fundamentals of commodity markets. From a view on history, definition and distribution of basic commodities, it specifies the largest operators organizing trade with commodities. The last sub chapter of the second section is a description of the most popular ways of investing in commodities. In the third section, the content of the work reaches its core -- an analysis of the gold market. The first chapter of this section gives a picture of the general determinants of demand, supply and price of gold. The following analytical chapter discusses these essential characteristics from a dynamic perspective -- the development over time. Based on the dependencies and calculations, the work analyzes the rate of return and risk of gold and compares them with alternative investments. Final passage of the third section brings the specific investment opportunities in gold. In particular, for their inclusion in the core group of precious metals, as in the case of gold, the fourth section is devoted to the definition a marginal nature of the silver market.
The analysis of trading with Futures contracts

The final thesis will focus on explanation of basic knowledge regarding futures contracts trading and possible ways of trading them as the basis for the analytical part. Analytical part is based on real-time trading of stock, currency, index and commodity futures during several days and intraday trading. In several time periods we will focus on the results of portfolio made by these futures traded on american stock markets. In the end we will compare the results of trading with the opportunity cost of the investor and evaluate his behavior on the futures market.
ETF funds

This thesis deals with exchange traded funds (ETFs). The goal is to explain how different kinds of ETFs work and to find out whether some of them operate inefficiently when it comes to following their benchmarks. The thesis describes the collective investments industry, characteristics and valuation of ETFs, and compares the performance of chosen commodity funds among themselves as well as to their benchmarks. The thesis reaches an interesting conclusion.
Trading with commodity derivates, specialy electrical power

Trading with electrical power is not the domain of few, chosen economic subjects anymore. My thesis describes in details contracts of this useful commodity. Rules of trade are determined by energy branch of an exchange. The same case is as well Power Exchange Central Europe, which determines commodity contracts and defines particular parameters and rules of trading. Part of the thesis is dealing with possible market positions and provides a product overview of energetic commodity. Final results of trading at PXE in recent years are analyzed and compared with real contracts on German exchange market. The end is focused on possible purchasing strategies of electrical power.
Specifics of commodity companies valuation

The principal aim of the thesis is to describe the functioning of commodity markets, especially on the example of oil, to analyze the specifics of selected commodity companies, to determine the influence of these characteristics on the valuation of these selected commodities and to identify the possibility of usage of the methods for valuation of other commodity companies.

The objective of this diploma paper is to assess the logistic solution of the company Louis Dreyfus Commodities for frozen concentrated orange juice, to recognise minuses and to propose possible solutions and recommendations.
