Analysis of three several-month training sessions of the endurance runner at higher altitudes
VONDRÁŠKOVÁ, Aneta
The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze three several-month concentration of a long-distance runner at higher altitude. Specifically, we compared the results of the measured values before staying in zones of high altitude and after arrival from high altitude. The tested individual was housed in Kenya in the town of Iten, located at 2,400 meters above sea level. To elaborate this thesis, we used the method of content analysis and the comparative method. To obtain the results, we used laboratory tests spiroergometry, spirometry, body composition and Wingate test. Then, the data was processed using material significance. The material significance was defined using Cohen's d. Our results showed an increase in red blood cells, an increase in VO2max, a reduction in heart rate, a reduction in morning heart rate. From these results, it is clear that alpine training has a positive effect on the performance of the athlete.

Nutritional problems in patients with chronic graft-versus-host disease after allogeneic transplantation of hematopoietic cells
Michková, Petra ; Šťastná-Marková, Markéta (advisor) ; Novák, František (referee)
Introduction: Graft versus host disease (GVHD) is a serious medical complication following allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo HSCT). It causes immunodeficiency and several organ damage and decreases survival time at two years after a transplantation. A nutritional intervention should be applied just before the transplantation, because a nutritional status significantly influences the post-transplant complications. A risk of malnutrition or metabolic syndrome can be assessed by several markers. A combination of laboratory, anthropometric, biometric and physical data is suitable for this purpose. In addition, a subjective questionnaire regarding eating habits and physical activity of the patients can be used. Objectives: This thesis deals with the patients with chronic GVHD (cGVHD) following the allo HSCT. The objective was to describe a nutritional status of the patients, to find out in which way a long-term immunosuppressive treatment affects a body composition and to describe the eating habits and the physical activity of these patients. Methods: 31 patients with GVHD and 24 patients after allo HSCT without GVHD participated in the research. A body composition (using bioelectrical impedance) and selected laboratory parameters in patients were assessed. A subjective health...

Title: Leisure time activities and motor performance among school aged children Objectives: The aim of the thesis is to evaluate a level of motor performance and leisure time activities among school children aged 12 - 14 years, on elementary school Boženy Němcové in Litoměřice. We want to know, if students with extended teaching of music and aesthetics will get worse results compared to students without extended teaching. Methods: Study presents empirical quantitative research and 86 students participate in it. Level of motor performance was determined by the test battery called Unifittest 6 - 60 and structure of leisure time activities was monitored by the part of the sociological questionnaire called COMPASS II. Amount of substucaneous fat was measured by the multifrequency bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA). We werified our hypotheses by the two sample t-test and with coefficient of effect size Cohens'd. Results: On the basis of evaluated results the statistically signifiant diference was not found in all hypotheses between comparator groups with level of significance (p ≤ 0,05). Cohens'd proved only small or no effect size, except for girls in Leger test where we proved medium effect size (d = 0,5). There wasn't signifiant diference in the structure of leisure time activities. Key words:...

Title: The current view of protein intake in power athletes - a review study. Objectives: Based on literary sources and professional studies, the aim of my work is to work out, systematically organize and compare acquired knowledge in the field of nutrition in power sports, namely the intake of proteins. Methods: The thesis is based on an review study, which, based on a uniform methodology of searching on three professional servers, processes and compares the results of the studies. Conclusion: Most studies coincide with the positive effect of increased protein intake on body composition. However, determining the exact optimal number of proteins taken for strength athletes is an individual matter that depends on many subjective factors. The harmful effects of the long-term professional high-protein diet have not been confirmed as well as its effect on physical performance and regeneration. Keywords: nutrition, high protein diet, resistance training, body composition, regeneration, metabolic response
Change in bodyweight and body composition during the weightlifting training unit and nutrition in strength sports
Vašků, Karolína ; Matoulek, Martin (advisor) ; Petráková Doležalová, Radka (referee)
This bachelor thesis monitors changes in body weight and body composition during training in professional athletes, three women and four men, from the Czech weightlifting team. The theoretical part describes components of the body composition, basic methods and calculations for its assessment. In addition, energy substrates used in weightlifting and sport nutrition basics, including suitable supplements for power athletes, are mentioned. In the practical part, using the bioelectric impedance device, we evaluated the actual body composition and energy needs of individuals in a series of three defined measurements-before training, after training, and after meals. The results of our qualitative research confirm that the energy needs of power athletes are far higher than predicted. We compared the minimum caloric requirement values obtained with the In Body 230 device measurement to those obtained using the Harris-Benedicts predictive equations (HBE), and pointed to significant deviations in basal metabolism calculations and inaccuracy of the results obtained with this equation. In most cases, with HBE, we have experienced undervalue in comparison to the In Body measurement. We have also confirmed the fact that the BMI is not suitable for the weight loss evaluation in weightlifters because of the...
