Work is based on literature and qualitative research in the form of biographical interviews. The theoretical part deals with the concepts of identity, tourism, gentrification, genius loci and ageing which are essential for understanding the changes identified in the analytical part. The analytical part is divided into seven units: changes of the atmosphere of the Lesser Town, its inhabitants, living environment, housing stock, changes of people who have shared their stories with me and more global changes that had influenced the Lesser Town. "What is I? Ivan Havel? That is a name, not who I am." Biography of Ivan M. Havel
Markupová, Jana ; Putna, Martin (advisor) ; Suk, Jiří (referee)
This master's degree thesis, adhering to the genre of contemporary history studies, depicts the lifestory of Ivan M. Havel. Theoretically it is grounded in personalism, especially regarding to works of Ch. Mounier and M. Scheler and establishes as the primary point of reference the phenomena of individual personality, uniquely embedded into the surrounding social world. From this basic tenet the explanation is built towards the understanding of general categories, using the contexts and traditions, in which the personality had been engulfed. This thesis makes use of both oral history method and archival sources and documents study. Ivan M. Havel can be understood within enduring context of his family's intellectual, civic, political and entrepreneurial tradition, where several specific phenomena stand out. First the non-partisan spirituality, second the emphasis, laid of socially responsible conduct of business; third the stress, laid on achieving broad education, going beyond established domains and disciplines and fourth the sociability, spanning over all of these attributes. Ivan M. Havel's biography is therefore traced mainly within the period up to the 1989 year, since the childhood, deeply influenced by his grandfather H. Vavrečka, through his coming of age, spent close to the Šestatřicátníci literary...

Ejubovič, Denis ; Otčenášek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Mikušiak, Igor (referee)
Augustin (Tin) Ujević (1891/1955) belongs to the most important Croatian poets. This thesis proposes to think of Ujević's life, work and view of world against background of his poetry from the 1930s and first half od 1940s by the year 1945, when the regime of then Yugoslavia forbade him to publish. During this period he published two anthologies of poetry, Auto na korzu (1932) and Ojađeno zvono (1933), both of which form skeleton of this work, and as well two collections of essays, Skalpel kaosa (1938) and Ljudi za vratima gostionice (1938); both of them have been keystones of study of Ujević's contemplations about literature and life. Theoretical and metodological resource of this work is interpretation in the sense of hermeneutical philosophy of W. Dilthey, H. G. Gadamer and P. Ricoer.
Transformations of tramping movement after 1989
Pokorná, Kateřina ; Grygar, Jakub (advisor) ; Synaková, Katarína (referee)
The bachelor thesis "Transformations of tramping movement after 1989" investigates changes, which the tramping movement underwent after the fall of the Communist regime. Tramps were persecuted before 1989 and could freely express themselves only in very limited ways. The work attempts to answer the question, of how tramps have coped with the new freedom and how it changed the movement itself. The research was carried out by qualitative means, because current tramping is almost totally neglected in expert literature. The method of autobiographical narrative interview was followed throughout the data collection process. It allows one to analyze the changes mentioned by the informants in the context of their life story. The empirical part of the thesis presents the changes of tramping, their origins, and their evaluations from the narrators' perspectives. The part also investigates the impact of tramping itself on their lives and the changes of their perception of the movement throughout life. Despite tramping not being officially banned nowadays, tramping suffers significant hardship from state and national park rangers. It must also cope with a substantial loss in number of members, which the post-revolution generation of tramps cannot replenish. Apart from information on the movement transformations, an...

Bandasová, Monika ; Pokorný, Jiří (advisor) ; Hnilica, Jiří (referee)
The theme of my thesis is the patriotic pedagogue Josef Věnceslav Soukup (1819-1882) whose life was full of feverish activity in the educational system. Moreover he was a prolific author of textbooks (one of his famous is The Technological Natural History) and musical works - we can mention his Wreath of fine songs which includes the song Wayfarer that is known for today. In music he paid attention to carols and Christmas songs and plays as well (the most famous is The Young Shephers of Bethlehem). J. V. Soukup excelled in almost every field, not only in pedagogy and music but also in drawing (he even taught Mikoláš Aleš, the well-known Czech painter), chemistry, technology and cultivation of plants. Moreover he contributed to many pedagogical magazines. The beginnins of his teacher's career were not easy, he strained for an appropriate position and during that time he had hardly anything to eat. He gave private lessons for food and played in pubs with the band of musicians to earn some money. However, as really hardworking and diligent student he got stipendium and thus he had not have any financial problems since that time. He knew K. S. Amerling (a great pedagogue who participated in the efforts of a higher girls' education) whose lectures he attended and was influenced by his philosophy. Josef Věnceslav...
