ESP - Developing a Course for Aviation English

The diploma thesis deals with the development of an ESP (English for specific purpose) course for aviation English. The theoretical part introduces the methodology for ESP course development, the demands on the teacher and other specifics associated with ESP; the practical part focuses on the contents of the course and its evaluation based on the feedback provided by the teacher and the students. In the conclusion the results of the feedback are discussed and the possible solutions suggested.

Fixed-odds betting and real odds

The fixed-odds betting is currently very popular. Bookmakers set the odds on sport events, which represent an amount possible to win per each unit bet. The aim of this thesis is to study whether the odds can reflect the probabilities of the outcomes of sport matches, based on which then try to tell if the same can go for the bettors and their bets. First, there are derived several models for setting the odds. Then there is constructed a hypothesis test to test a validity of one of these models. This cannot be rejected, thanks to which there is estimated the dependence of the real probabilities on the odds. It turns out that with the exception of probabilities close to 0 and 1 the estimation might work. The conclusion of the thesis is the statement that odds could a be a good indicator of the probabilities and in such case also the bets of the bettors would correspond to them. 1

Foreign exchange risk securing

Práce se zaměřuje na téma kurzového rizika a způsoby jeho zajištění, a to vše převážně s ohledem na české podnikové prostředí z důvodu aktuálnosti dané problematiky. V souvislosti s vývojem české kurzové politiky po roce 1990 vysvětluje vznik samotné potřeby zajištění proti kurzovému riziku. Uvádí přehled používaných finančních derivátů a způsobů jejich výpočtu včetně praktických příkladů. Na závěr je nastíněna otázka vstupu České republiky do eurozóny, který českým exportérům a importérům přinese podstatné snížení rizika vyplývajícího z volatility kurzu CZK/EUR.

The evolution of euro exchange rate from its introduction to present

Práce ve své první části popisuje evropskou spolupráci a konvergenci v hospodářské a měnové oblasti. Druhá část je zaměřena na převážně deskriptivní hodnocení směnného kurzu eura s americkým dolarem. Vývoj kurzu je komentován na základě různých studií, odborných publikací a agenturních zpráv a pozoruje vliv očekávaného růstu ekonomik USA a Eurozóny a pohyby úrokových sazeb v těchto oblastech na vývoj směnného kurzu.
