This bachelor thesis deals with the restoration of a castle in Velké Němčice. The thesis builds on an architectural study carried out in the AG033 course of the Restoration of Monuments Studio. The task of the thesis is to create a complete project for the appropriate restoration and reconstruction of the castle and to propose its new utilization. At the same time, the thesis focuses on the solution of the castle's immediate surroundings. The object of the solution will be designed as a socially cultural object with administrative functions. The castle should serve as a new town hall, and in accordance with this, the following rooms will be created in the castle: a ceremonial hall, information center, mayor's office, secretary's office, registry office, accountant's office, archive, library, club room, refreshment facility, and interactive room. To achieve the implementation of the new operation in the castle, the correct restoration of the historical object is necessary. Using surveys and historical sources, I examine the architectural values and construction of the building. I strive to preserve historically significant layers, remove intrusive modern elements, and return the object its original expression. With the help of new technologies, I also strive to preserve the building for future generations. I propose minimum use of modern structures and elements, and therefore mainly focus on proper reconstruction and restoration.

Restoration of the chateau and manor house in Vážany nad Litavou
Raková, Markéta ; Špiller, Martin (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor) ; Daněk, Lukáš (advisor)
The topic of the bachelor’s thesis is the restoration of the chateau and manor courtyard in Vážany nad Litavou. Its goal was to prepare documentation for the building permit and parts of the documentation for the construction based on an architectural study which was made in the subject AG033 - Restoration of Monuments Studio. The chateau with the manor courtyard is located in the southern part of the municipality in the immediate vicinity of the centre and is counted among the oldest buildings in the village. Its construction began in the second part of the 16th century, the oldest surviving structures date back to the Renaissance period. The design puts emphasis on the preservation of the historical and architectural essence and the current character of the building in the most coherent form. The quality and state of repair of individual layers were examined. Part of the restoration concept also covered the reflection about the appropriate use of the discussed building. The building should serve as the municipal authority connected to the library and should also provide facilities for organizations and associations that function in the village (Community centre, Primary Art School Slavkov, breeders, hunters, etc.). The new function of the building responds to the existing unsatisfactory space of the library and the municipal office, which are currently located in a terraced house. The municipality was forced to solve this insufficient space by extensions to the house’s yard. Furthermore, the design responds to the needs of the residents who would welcome more events and activities for children and youth in the village. Thanks to the location of the building in the village centre and this new functional use, a new central public space for all events in the municipality would be created in Vážany nad Litavou.

Rossi, Michaela ; Daněk, Petr (advisor) ; Pánek, Jaroslav (referee) ; Maňas, Vladimír (referee)
of the Dissertation The Musical Entourage of Rudolf II (1576-1612) reconstructed from the Imperial Accounting Ledgers Michaela Žáčková Rossi (2016, Supervisor: doc. PhDr. Petr Daněk Ph.D.) The proposed dissertation is undertaken as an attempt to make accessible the payments of the imperial court under Rudolf II concerning its musical life. Quite a century ago Albert Smijers published payments to the imperial musicians, but only to them of the chapel, while the other categories were considered unsystematically; but even among the "trometter", "kammermusici" and "servants on two and more horses" we find excellent composers. This dissertation, using the known sources and on the basis of new heuristics in the State Archives of Vienna, brings for the first time a complete list of all musicians of the Rudolf's court, including the period, function and wages development of their stay. Thanks to the extensive lists and graphs, it also present the specialization and career evolution of the Imperial musicians, number and quality of their extraordinary payments, bonuses etc. The conception of a first global view on the Rudolfine musical entourage in Prague will be complemented in a forthcoming monograph by a complete list of (Gnadengeld), it means "grace payments" to the musicians for their music dedications...
Revision of Renaissance values by Ariosto and Cervantes
Horká, Alice ; Blinková Pelánová, Eva (advisor) ; Pelán, Jiří (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the revision of Renaissance values in the works of Orlando Furioso and The Ingenious don Quixote de la Mancha. The first part is focused on the identification of contemporary Renaissance values. The main part of the thesis is devoted to the analysis of the two works mentioned above. The last part refers to the comparison of these works in the context of the laid out Renaissance values. The analysis and subsequent comparison of the two works shows that the chivalric theme, with which both authors work, changed already in the second half of the 15th century, and works that parody this genre appeared. Both authors portray realities different from the idealized world of Breton novels. The ideals are unattainable and unrealistic in both works, the characters move in a world that does not belong to them, they only live in it with a feeling of loss and alienation. At the same time, they are no longer idealized representatives of certain groups, and therefore they can make mistakes, they can behave contrary to moral principles and chivalric virtues, they also act on the basis of their inner motivations, wishes, weakness or fear. The stories of ordinary people and soldiers who solve their problems and desires also come to the foreground. We get to the essential questions of...
Renessaince residences of the Trčka of Lípa and the work of Antonio Ericer
RŮŽIČKOVÁ, Michaela
The master's thesis is a continuation of the bachelor's thesis, which monographically dealt with the so-called Trčkův castle located in the area of the Premonstratensian monastery in Želiv. The theme of the thesis will focus on the group of residences of the Trčka family from Lípa in the Vysočina region with an emphasis on the Renaissance phase of the buildings (Ledeč nad Sázavou, Světlá nad Sázavou and Želiv). The thesis will deal with the cultural and historical context of their creation and the mutual formal similarity of the buildings. Particular attention will be paid to the realisation of the Italian-born builder Antonio Ericer, who worked for the Trčka family from Lípa and was also in contact with the Rožmberk family and the lords of Hradec. The author will try to find possible models for some significant forms of the buildings in question or typologically related comparisons in relevant areas.

Paroha, Josef ; Alušík, Tomáš (advisor) ; Divišová, Bohdana (referee)
The aim of this interdisciplinary theoretical master's thesis is to investigate what the inhabitants of the territory of today's Czech Republic consumed during the Renaissance period (14th-16th century) and what form therapeutic diets had during this era. To achieve this goal, I have used the method of historical data analysis. Valid data was obtained from the period literary sources with medical or dietary themes written from the beginning of the 14th century to the end of the 16th century in the territory of today's Czech Republic and from the modern secondary academic literature, especially from the fields of history, archaeology and physical anthropology. The obtained data was used to reconstruct the form of the dietary habits and therapeutic diets during the Renaissance period and the evaluation of its impact on the state of health of the then population in our state territory. On the basis of the study of the sources and the secondary literature, I found out how people in the territory of the Czech Republic ate during the Renaissance period. There was surprisingly enough food and a quite wide spectrum of available foodstuff in the period in question on this territory. This finding is confirmed by anthropometric measuring, medical reports, and other surviving texts. Complex therapeutic diets...

A comparison of the historical accuracy of the Renaissance art in the computer game Assasin's Creed II
VARGOVÁ, Hana
The bachelor thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. Its goal is to compare, above all, the architecture of Renaissance Florence with its game interpretation and thereby gain an overview of similarities and differences. Furthermore, it is also determined how history is presented in today's culture to young people. The theoretical part focuses mainly on the growth of the game industry and along with that on the Ubisoft company. It was responsible for the development of Assasin's Creed II, which is the core game for this thesis. It describes the society, architecture and the associated art of Renaissance Florence as depicted by the developers in the game. Because of the chosen subject matter of the game, it is also necessary to mention here the emergence and development of the Templar and Assassin brotherhoods. In the second part of the theoretical section, the actual history of Renaissance Florence is described. Here the architecture and society of the city are described. Finally, the history and architecture of the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella, which is the key building for the practical part of this thesis, is discussed in more detail. The practical part therefore focuses on the façade of the basilica and its interpretation in the game. It also contains sketches and study material that serves as a basis for the final modelling of this fragment.
