This bachelor thesis deals with media coverage of two allied air strikes against the Pilsen Region in the spring of 1943. The essay opens with an overview of the situation in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, the printed periodic media of that time and the system of censorship, followed by a brief introduction to Pilsen's history at the time of the Protectorate as well as a description of the actual air strikes by a current historian. In terms of the actual analysis, the essay focuses on a two-week period immediately following the bombing, i.e. from 17 April to 1 May and from 14 May to 1 June 1943. The material used in the work contains four groups of periodicals - nationwide legal (Večerní České...

The Reflection of the Exclusion Crisis (1678-1683) in Contemporary Literature
Hoblová, Kristýna ; Nováková, Soňa (advisor) ; Kolinská, Klára (referee)
The Reflection of the Exclusion Crisis (1678-1683) in Contemporary Literature Kristýna Hoblová abstract This work of literary history analyses the reflection of the Exclusion Crisis (1678-1683) in contemporary literature across genres. It is based on the theory of the rise of the public sphere by Jürgen Habermas and on the theory of Michael McKeon, understanding the ideology of the late Stuarts as a last remnant of aristocratic ideology. The Exclusion Crisis is presented here as a period of unsettling negotiations between the declining Stuart ethos and the Whig ideology of the rising mercantile classes. The interpretation of chosen texts serves to discover creative transformations of the political discourse of the newly emerging political parties of Whigs and Tories, stressing the negotiations between genres, individual authors and political ideologies. The first chapter offers a brief overview of the socio-historical context, Habermas's theory of the rise of the public sphere and Michael McKeon's conception of aristocratic ideology. It also introduces the Tory political theory defending the Stuart divine right of kings on the basis of Robert Filmer's patriarchal household-state analogy and the Whig defence against absolutist tendencies of the Stuarts through asserting the priority of Law over the Royal...
The Kremlin's Program for Patriotic Education and Russian War Movies (2000-2010)
Mazzali, Francesca ; Vykoukal, Jiří (advisor) ; Duta, Mircea Dan (referee) ; Kolenovská, Daniela (referee)
This dissertation considers films to be double-sided mirrors that absorb political and cultural content from one side, with filmmakers filtering and elaborating the content between the two surfaces, and then transmitting the elaborated points to the audience. The elaboration of political content can be performed in an educational and propagandistic way, depicting and supporting specific political ideas. This dissertation analyses the first two programs of a Russian government program, Patriotic Education for Russian Federation Citizens (2001- 2005 and 2006-2010) (hereinafter, 'Patriotic Education'), and identifies six political priorities that can be observed and analysed in eleven Russian war movies. It will first be explained how the movies serve as propagandistic and educational tools in the context of Patriotic Education, projecting its political priorities to the audience. Second, it will be explained how a continuity with the Soviet past is displayed in the content of war films and the way they depict some of the elements promoted by Patriotic Education.
