New possibilities in the field of resocialisation and education of convicts

The thesis deals with new possibilities and approaches in the field of education and resocialization of individuals in prison. The process of treatment of prisoners in the prison system is carried out by systematic and professional methods of treatment. At present, according to the current strategic document, the Concept of the Prison System until 2025, the main focus is on education and employment of persons in prison. The issue of resocialisation and further education of convicts is developed within the framework of social andragogy. The theoretical part will analyse the possibilities of using andragogical, social and social andragogical counselling in imprisonment. The sub-objective of the thesis is to characterize the individual stages of the counselling process and to define its contribution to the reintegration of convicts. New methods and their use in the framework of further education and resocialization of convicts will be observed within the research. This is especially the concept of an open prison, which is quite unique in the Czech Republic and is implemented within the Jiřice prison. The importance of education within the process of resocialization of convicts

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of education of people serving a prison term. Education represents the key tool of resocialization, i.e. a specialist work with convicts. The first part of the thesis is going to devote attention to resocialization and to the subsequent education of convicts in terms of prevention as well as in terms of the atonement by means of the integrative tools. Within the scope of the execution of the prison sentence, education is an essential part of the treatment programs, which are oriented to create the preconditions for an independent way of life. The theoretical part is also going to focus on the legislative embedding of education of convicts in the Czech Republic and the best practice from abroad. In the descriptive-analytical part, the focus is going to be laid on two particular institutions (the improsenment facility Světlá nad Sázavou, the improsenment facility Všehrdy) and their comparison. The aim of the work is to investigate the specifics of the choice of the formal education, mostly provided by school educational centres, and non-formal education provided directly by employees of the individual institutions. Penitentiary system of the Czech Republic - presence and future

The diploma thesis deals with the penitentiary system of the Czech Republic. It contains a brief excursion into the past of the Czech penitentiary system, i.e. the history of punishment in our territory. Attention is paid to the present penitentiary system of the Czech Republic, legislative development, problematic legal regulation, its impact on practice, as well as to the view to the future (within the frame of the new Czech penitentiary system conception). The diploma thesis represents the functioning of the Prison Service of the Czech Republic, its tasks and aims. The last chapter of the theoretical part is devoted to the future of the Czech penitentiary system, especially to changes in the external differentiation of prisons. The practical part of the thesis is a qualitative research survey (structured interviews with employees of the Prison Service of the Czech Republic). It maps the attitude of Prison Service employees to the existing penitentiary system and to legislative adjustments effective from October 2017. New approaches in penitentiary care - model of the Open Prison Jiřice

The aim of the rigorous work is to identify and characterize the innovative concept of penitentiary care applied in the treatment of convicted men in the building Open Prison in Jiřice. Emphasis is placed on the analysis of elements of innovation at the architectural level (modification of outdoor spaces "Open Prison", specific accommodation for convicts, construction of a breeding zone, cultivation zone, ornamental gardens) and at the socio-psychological level. This is reflected in the professional work and application of specifically focused activities of the treatment program. It is based on a higher degree of professional intervention in terms of the application of the method of "accompaniment" and "case management", an open approach of employees in a mutually constructive, supportive communication with convicts. In the practical part, a qualitative survey will be used, which will aim to compare selected areas of activities of the program of treatment of convicts included in the execution of imprisonment in a ward with a medium level of security and a low level of security. Prison with general security regime - high security department

The thesis aims to describe and analyze the process of professional treatment with emphasis on reducing criminogenic risks with convicted men placed into guarded prisons in section with a high level of security. Convicted criminals show diverse degrees of riskiness and different structures of criminogenic factors. In order for the Prison Service of Czech Republic to work with them effectively, it needs to know their criminological profile. For this stated purpose, it analyzes relevant anamnestic and special pedagogical data. The content of the treatment program is then determined based on their evaluation, which takes into account the variation of pedagogical, socio-legal and psychological approaches and methods, in regards to particular identified high-risk criminogenic factors and needs. The own research of the study, which forms the core of the practical/empiric part of the thesis, consists of the analysis of the self-reported assessed risk factors and subjectively percieved reactivity (alternatively analogous therapeutic responsiveness) and appropriate penitentiary-pedagogical interconnection of available treatment program activities.
