Porsch, Michal ; Kepartová, Jana (advisor) ; Foltýn, Dušan (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to acquaint the reader with historical parallels between the reigns of princeps Augustus, Napoleon Bonaparte, Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler. The thesis is also focused on the propaganda and self-presentation of these politicians and on the inspiration of the Roman state in modern history. The first part of the thesis is dedicated to the lives of all the mentioned personalities, their rise to power and to the main political acts and procedures they used during their reigns. The cultural development of states under the reigns of these politicians is also mentioned here. An important element that is present throughout the work is Augustus's reference to later political and cultural history, on which princeps' reign had a significant influence. Subsequently, based on the studied sources and literature, the thesis includes the comparation of individual reigns, looks for similarities and differences, evaluates whether it is a conscious use of August's political acts. The main objective of this thesis is to present whether August's legacy was used intentionally in later history and his political practices become inspiration for future generations, or whether it is more of a coincidence. This work also traces the ways in which Augustus' personality and rule were reflected...
Italian Foreign Policy towards Libya in the Context of Externalization of Migration Control
Přeček, Marek ; Mejstřík, Martin (advisor) ; Kasáková, Zuzana (referee)
Since approximately the 1990s, the countries of southern Europe have been developing a policy of so-called externalization or transferring responsibility for immigration and asylum procedures and obligations to other countries, in response to the growing waves of immigration. Since the beginning of the century, Italy and Libya have been developing various forms of this cooperation, with dynamic changes based on the internal political situation in both countries. This thesis examines the development of the given policy on the part of Italy after what is probably the biggest qualitative shift in mutual relations, i.e. after the events of the Arab Spring and the change of the Libyan regime. The aim is therefore to analyze the nature and development of the conception of Italian foreign policy towards Libya in the area of migration, from the position of the executive leaders of this policy, i.e. the prime ministers and the ministers of the interior and foreign affairs of the governments of Matteo Renzi, Paolo Gentiloni and Giuseppe Conte (2014-2019). The research question therefore deals with whether the selected Italian governments have continuity in their conception of migration policy with the previous cabinets in the line of securitization and externalization of migration, and we can therefore talk...

Criminal Intelligence in the Fight Against Organized Crime in Italy
Matiz, Sophie ; Michálek, Luděk (advisor) ; Aslan, Emil (referee)
Criminal intelligence or Law Enforcement intelligence has been conceived to fight crime and restore the order of law whenever a country's national security is at risk. The discipline has its origins in the 1920s, a time in which the main method for intelligence collection was the famous dossier system - the gathering of basic information about individuals. Nowadays, the discipline has come to be considered a key tool in order to contrast organized crime. However, the European discipline on the matter as well as the establishment of the European Model on Criminal Intelligence are to be considered quite recent. In fact, the first real model on criminal intelligence was established only at the beginning of the years 2000s in the United Kingdom. Therefore, the scope of this thesis project is to study the ways in which criminal intelligence operates at the European level. However, this cannot be accomplished without providing an accurate definition of the main concepts - such as organized crime and intelligence - related to the discipline. Moreover, a fundamental part of this thesis regards the study of Europol and its evolution into a proper agency that works to eradicate the phenomenon of organized crime throughout the European territory. In particular, the elaborate aims to underline Europol's...
