Gender differences in online practices: case studies from Egypt, Iraq, and Jordan
Naber, Lara ; Alhorr, Layane (advisor) ; Chytilová, Julie (referee)
Women living in conservative countries often face constraints in their interaction with strangers, both online and offline. Given that interactions with strangers are an important factor in getting customers by small business owners, this study aims to analyze gender differences in Facebook business practices in conservative nations. The study examines five hypotheses relating to how men and women post, talk about their businesses, and interact with others online through 1350 manually collected observations from 90 buying and selling public Facebook groups in Egypt, Iraq, and Jordan. The results show that the posting rates of business-related information in public groups are not different between men and women. However, women frequently advertise female-specific products to other women. Furthermore, while real identity positively affects post interactions, women are more likely to hide aspects of their real identify online. These insights from data analysis are supported by qualitative interviews where women also report hiding parts of their identity online and explain reasons why they do so. Together these results suggest that women adopt practices to conserve their privacy, and these might come at a cost of reduced interaction.

From Brussels with love? Data Analysis of Social Media usage by Czech Members of the European Parliament
Vanka, Boris ; Váška, Jan (advisor) ; Ullrichová, Eliška (referee)
The central theme of this thesis was a deeper understanding of social media communication by Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) elected for Czechia between 2020 and 2022. The author decided to conduct the research due to the influence the politicians maintain (factual within the legislative process and the one based on their authority when co-creating opinions in the public sphere), while a lack of academic studies on such a topic existed, establishing a research gap to be filled. In the past, researchers within the field of political sciences focused primarily on the qualitative dimension of online communication (text analysis) or only one of the social media platforms (mostly Twitter). This approach could uncover sentiments but made it much more challenging to spot trends. Therefore, the data from Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram were obtained via an online provider Zoomsphere, mainly from the parties' leaders in the European elections of 2019. These pieces of information were researched with a data analysis approach, which consisted of nine main steps. After evaluating the research aim, data were identified, collected, extracted, cleaned, aggregated, analyzed, and finally visualized in order to make conclusions based on the outcomes. Once this process was finished, the data were compared...
Analysis of the use of social sites as a key communication tool of the Czech Athletic Federation and their's change over time
Kolář, Adam ; Turková, Kateřina (advisor) ; Chladová, Marta (referee)
In my diploma thesis, I deal with social networks - specifically the social networks of the Czech Athletic Federation. It uses them as one of his main communication channels. Several quantitative and qualitative methods were used in the research. The main goal of the resarch was to compare social sites of the Czech Athletics Federation in 2019 and 2022. It was found that the main goal of the Czech Athletic Federation remains the same in the long term - to inform about the results of Czech athletes. Otherwise, however, social networks have undergone a transformation. The biggest difference over the years can be found in Instagram Stories, which the Federation has taken care of and significantly improved them over that three years. Media routines have also changed. Czech Athletics Federation tried to not be outdated, which is why a TikTok account was made and Instagram Reels were regularly created. The biggest failing can be seen in posts on Instagram, which practically copied Facebook. Overall, however, the year-on-year change on social networks can be seen positively, with which corresponds the growth of fans.

Švabová, Aneta ; Rosenfeldová, Jana (advisor) ; Součková, Barbora (referee)
This theoretical based bachelors theses is focused on phenomenon of sharing pictures of children online by their parents, so called sharenting (especially on Facebook or Instagram). There are risks connected to this kind of sharing, such as formation of a digital footprint, which could include sensitive information, details from personal life or other problematic information, which would never be shared by children it concerns. This work attempts to capture the consequences this sharing could have for a life of a child outside of online world as well as for their online presence. All these phenomena will be described in theory but also by a legal perspective. Considering the terms and conditions of use published by META or other legal documents, this work attempts to answer following questions: To what extend is sharing this information unsafe? Can the child seek legal defence? And what legal boundaries are there for this kind of sharing? By analysing and interpreting academic and other relevant texts, together with legislation and jurisdiction, this work presents a conclusion, that such sharing could be a violation of privacy of a child, which would go hand in hand with violation of obligatory care for the child deriving from parental responsibility. Furthermore, this work detects a space for...

This paper examines the influence of social networks on the diet of celiacs. The questionnaire itself was disseminated on the social networks Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp. The final sample included 264 from the original 279 respondents. The results show that the use of social networking sites is popular among patients with celiac disease and gluten-free diets and that users benefit from it. It was also revealed that the most useful social networks are Instagram amd Facebook. On the other hand, YouTube, Twitter and Pinterest fell completely in the evaluaion. The main reason for this is the small amount of beneficial information.
