19th Century Methodology of Art History and Research from the Perspective of Progress
Petrasová, Taťána
The paper analyses the possibilities that opened up in the period 1981–1990 for the interdisciplinary research of Historicism in the former Czechoslovakia, given by the founding tradition of the Pilsen symposia. On the one hand, the researchers followed the current ideas of “art and progress” dealt with Ernst Gombrich (1971). From the opposite side came supporters of the idea of “rationality and irrationality” of development as a source of intellectual and aesthetic authenticity of 19th century works, such as jako Rudolf Chadraba, Jiří Ševčík, Helena Lorenzová a Vladimír Macura.

The history of physical education and sport in unions of the Kosmák region of Orel
DOLÁK, Jan
The bachelor's thesis deals with the history of physical education and sport in Kosmák County Orel. Kosmák County was established by agreeing to the division of West Moravian County at the General Congress of the Czechoslovak Eagle on July 31, 1947. The named county is based in Znojmo and the individual units are from the Znojmo region. However, the activities of this county were stopped by the communist regime. After many years under the communist regime, the county was successfully restored on January 1, 1996. In the individual phases after the restoration, unities were formed, but they did not survive on the Eagle scene and ceased their activities. Kosmák County now has 6 units: Mramotice, Pavlice, Přeskáče, Únanov, Vémyslice and Znojmo. The work further clarifies the life of the county patron Václav Kosmák. Secondly, it focuses on the course of Orel's activities from the beginning to the present and describes the personality of Orel's physical education, Jan Šrámek.

Efmertová M. ; Golan P. ; Mannová B.
This publication traces the history of selected branches of computer science in the Czech lands and Czechoslovakia, spanning the period from the end of World War II to the 1990s. The book originated within the project of the Ministry of Culture NAKI II – A Century of Information: the World of Informatics and Electrical Engineering – The Computer World Inside Us, held in honor of the 70th anniversary of the modern establishment of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, and to mark the 40th anniversary of the death of the distinguished Czech scientist Antonín Svoboda. The publication is focused on three fundamental domains: the first one portrays the general development trends in computer technology (Reviewing Computer Technology Developments), the next section is devoted to the Czechoslovak/Czech (or rather Svoboda´s) computer school, showcasing the upswing of Czechoslovakia´s computer technology, associated primarily with the person of Antonín Svoboda, his colleagues and the achievements of the Research Institute of Mathematical Machines, while accentuating Czech/Czechoslovak contributions to the overal upsurge of information technology. The final part describes recent and contemporary advances in IT, particularly since the 1980s, featuring the Internet, the web and virtual reality. Regulation and Restriction of Entertaining Activities in the Environment of the Unity of the Brethren in the Pre-White Mountain Period
Růčková, Markéta
The effort of the Unity of the Brethren as a church group was to form a Christian community according to the biblical image of the Apostolic Church, in which the supreme authority is the Scripture, which also serves as the highest measure of proper conduct at all levels. The behaviour of all Brethren members was to be adapted to this accordingly. Although the social structure of the Brethren members changed over its existence, the principles of order and discipline, characterised by an emphasis on moral quality of life, obedience and God’s commandments applied to all its members, regardless of estate or social status. On the basis of\nnormative sources derived from fraternal leaders or issued in synodal resolutions, as well as narrative sources, especially sermons, it is possible to observe how the Brethren viewed the entertainment activities of its members, celebrations related to human life events, holidays, music and games. However, the strict rules necessarily led to their violation when applied in practical life. \n
