This thesis examines the impact of the concept of ecosystem services in the evaluation of the social costs and benefits of urban watercourse revitalization. Its possible use is shown on the specific selected project. The theoretical part explains the economic substance of ecosystem services, defines related terms, introduces different approaches of various economic schools to the concept and describes its historical development. The practical part then quantifies the net social benefits and costs of the selected project using cost- benefit analysis extended by the concept of ecosystem services. In the conclusion, the objective indicators are calculated and analysed in order to identify the strengths and weeknesses of using the concept of ecosystem services.
Analysis of legalizing financial compensation on the kidney market: Iranian case and its application on the Czech Republic during 2006-2015
Cachnín, Patrik ; Procházka, Pavel (advisor) ; Barák, Vladimír (referee)
The bachelor's thesis deals with the Iranian system of kidney trade, whose de facto legalization in 1988 allows to analyze important aspects of this solution to the shortage of kidneys. The Iranian case has not confirmed the common concern of opponents of the monetary compensations for the kidney donation about displacement of the altruistic and cadaveric donors after the sale legalization. The work also refuses the hypothesis which states that market legalization puts poor patients at a disadvantage and favours the rich patients. The Iranian case documents improvement of the situation for all patients. Application of the Iranian system to the Czech Republic is carried out in the main part of the work, and the impact of the introduction of the system with legalized monetary compensations on the expenses in the health care system in the years 2006-2015 is calculated via the cost-benefit analysis. The result is a positive balance of the total amount CZK 4.2-5.1 billion in favour of introducing this system.

I have chosen following factors for analysis namely: accident frequency, fuel consumption, CO2 emissions from motor vehicles and time. The work is divided into three parts. The first part is theoretical. First part discusses the importance and effects of transport infrastructure on regional development. It is based mainly on the practical study of transport projects in different countries around the world. In addition, there are presented selected types of project analysis including different approaches. The methodology of work is descripted in the second part of the thesis, basic principles of cost -benefit analysis with calculation. In the practical part of the thesis there are presented factors and input data for calculations. All data are obtained from ČSÚ website or from my own measurements. The analysis of all costs and benefits of the project are situated in the conclusion.

Comparative Analysis of Selected Waste Management Systems in the United States
Brožová, Eva Antonie ; Osersová, Marta (advisor) ; Ropický, Jan (referee)
This thesis concerns a comparison of two currently the most frequently occuring recycling waste systems in the United States of America -- Single stream and Dual stream recycling systems and an assessment of feasible utilization of Single stream system in the Czech Republic. The comparison is performed from several aspects: investment costs, operating costs, costs of the processors of secondary raw materials, costs of environmental pollution caused by CO2, SO2 and NOx, capacity utilization and citizens participation in the system, focusing on a single commodity; paper and cardboard waste. As according to realized studies the systems represent different load for individual entities in the economy cost-benefit method is used for the comparison. Using this method, four collection areas and the most important beneficiaries (municipal entity, secondary raw materials processors, landfill and residents) involved in the system are analyzed in the state of Pennsylvania. None of the existing studies did not take into account costs and benefits of more than one entity so far. In the Czech Republic no such studies have been realized, therefore this issue has become the subject of this thesis. In term of costs and benefits for the municipal entity the results of realized studies coincide in results of this thesis, i.e. Dual stream recycling system is more suitable for small collection areas. However from the point of view of all the major beneficiaries results of this thesis vastly differ. Based on this analysis it can be concluded that any of the above mentioned systems is not suitable for small communities, regarding the fact the values for the Single stream system are less negative. Application of Single stream system in the Czech Republic, namely in Prague, with all its limitations (we assume costs derived from the U.S. market) comes more favorable than the currently implemented system.
Analysis of the project EUROVELO as the sustainable form of tourism in the Czech Republic 2004 - 2014
Starý, Filip ; Štípek, Vladimír (advisor) ; Zeman, Martin (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with potential and effectiveness of long-distance cycling routes EuroVelo in the Czech Republic. The thesis is based on hypothesis of sustainability of the project. For the sustainability is necessary concurrence of three functions -- sociocultural, environmental and economical. The set hypothesis is considered from multiple views. Firstly SWOT analysis was made -- this analysis shows the most important internal and external factors of project. Moreover this analysis confirms sociocultural and environmental sustainability of project. Then cost-benefit analysis was carried out. This cost-benefit analysis creates the required minimum number of use of cycling routes EuroVelo per year (with given opportunity costs) so that the project will be sustainable economically. With the highest simulated opportunity costs (20%) the minimum number of usage per year must be 3,08 million. Whereas EuroVelo routes connect the most attractive cycling trails in the Czech Republic, we can consider this number of use as realistic. The main benefit of the thesis is complex analysis of conditions and impacts of the project EuroVelo in the Czech Republic based on partial methods and calculations.

This thesis covers the implementation of ex post cost-benefit analysis (CBA) applied to specific sport event in the Czech Republic, specifically Biathlon World Championships, which was held in Nové Město na Moravě in 2013. The results of determinative criterion indicators reliably exceeded the required values, investment project can be considered as economically feasible. Concurrently the event has generated positive cash flow therefore we can talk about the feasibility of the project. Overall, the project can be recommended for realization, because brings more benefits than costs to interested parties.
