Rokošová, Lucie ; Komrska, Martin (advisor) ; Slaný, Martin (referee)
This diploma thesis compares the profits and costs of the prohibition adopted in the Czech Republic during September 2012. The thesis detects, based on the comparison of the value of saved lives and costs that the prohibition cause, the effectivity of the government interference on the market oriented economy. The profits of the prohibition are defined as a value of saved lives of people, who would die because of the intoxication if the prohibition would not be adopted. The value of the human life is defined by DALY (disability-adjusted life years), the willingness to pay for prolongation of own life and the amount of potential juridical refunds. The costs of the prohibition are formulated as a value of unsold goods and services. Diploma thesis considers also impact of prohibition on tax collection. We can state that, based on the cost-benefit analysis, the adopted prohibition was economically effective.

Micenko, Matej ; Vokoun, Marek (advisor) ; Šmíd, Jan (referee)
Economic impact of mega-sport events is case of many discussions. Aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze economic impact of mega-sport events and try to recommend effective rate of financing them. Introduction to the issue of mega-sport events would be done through analyzing historical forces and political motivation through theirs statements about such an events and investigating numerous impact studies of already hosted events. This will lead to possibility of researching London 2012 Olympics and comparing its ex ante cost-benefit analysis with previous studies. Analytical section also deals with FIFA World Cup 1998 in France and its economic impact. Information found throughout the thesis indicate that important subjects for impact of mega sport events are time period and place of hosting, economic development of country, size of public sector and last but not least individual character of an event. Economic valuation of radon mitigation countermeasures applied in family houses
Černý, Petr ; Sieber, Patrik (advisor) ; Krause, Josef (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to valuate economic effectivity of radon mitigation countermeasures co-financed by the state applied in family houses which display high radon level. Feasibility of the mitigation is analysed without concering financing source. Furthermore, the project is valuated from the point of view of the house owner and from the state's point of view. Presence of residental radon is increasing lung cancer probability, radon has notable healt effects. Costs and benefit of the hypothetic project are vauated in CBA analysis. The author finds the project unfeasible. CBA is discussed as a suitable economic tool for fiding alternative technological method aiming to social effectivity. Providing feasible change of remediation parametres caused positive social value of the project, socioeconomic flow in the state point of view would remain negative. Therefore, state participation on the radon mitigation countermeasures of private family houses is not reccomended.
Economic aspects of setting the minimum flow for water power plants on Jizera river.
Vocel, Martin ; Vejchodská, Eliška (advisor) ; Geuss, Erik (referee)
There is an obligation to hold a minimal flow when running a water power plant in a current czech legistation. There are environmental reasons to determine the minimum discharge and the way to set it is not valid at the moment. We can see a difference in a type of water power stations when comparing the effects from electric power which is produced in water power plant situated on czech rivers and the damage that does not appear on the environment. The weir type of power plant harms the surroundings mildly except of the possible migration obstacles. But the derivation type makes loss that could be hardly compensate by the produced electricity. Different methods of evaluating the enrironment brinks various results and that is the reason why it is hard to say how much the effects from producing the electricity exceed the benefits arising from instream water or vice versa. The only conclusion that can be said is the advice about including more points of view when setting the minimum flowage.

Selected effects of investment incentives on the state budget and employment in the Czech Republic
Bolcha, Peter ; Schwarz, Jiří (advisor) ; Zemplinerová, Alena (referee) ; Krajč, Marian (referee)
The policy of investment incentives is applied in majority of countries all over the world. This popularity is in contradiction with rare academic analyses of this phenomenon and those few existing are not reflected by the actual policy. This work intends to partially fill the first gap and is devoted to estimation of fiscal impact of the policy and also its effects on employment. It contains a proposal of cost-benefit calculation and its application in Czech Republic. The necessary condition for any application of this method, one needs to assess causal impact of such policy on investment and also indirect effects in the labour market. Comparison of investment behavior of supported firms and firms from control group (chosen by matching estimator) shows that the extra investment generated (or maybe only accelerated) was at most 30% of contracted amounts. Indirect effects in labour market are estimated via dynamic model of employment using Heckman's treatment of selection. Inquireies show that linkage effects dominate the crowding out effects, signalling that domestic firms on average benefit from the presence of their foreign conterparts. Turning to supported vs. nonsupported firms, this effect diminishes. For estimation of various scenarios of fiscal and employment effects I use results from econometric estimates of this work as well as the other works from Czech environment. The unitary fiscal cost of one job created is several hundred tousand CZK and therefore the net cost has to be confronted with other potencial benefits of policy. With respect to fact that majority of firms resides and operates in Czech Republic prior the incentive award, technological transfer or other positive effects do not find much support in my findings. This indicates that the arguments for the provision of this policy in Czech economy are not valid (any more).
Analysis of the Economic efficiency of the provision that should improve water quality in Macha´s Lake
Kuličková, Ivana ; Vojáček, Ondřej (advisor) ; Pur, Luděk (referee)
Diploma thesis is focused on data evaluation of economic efficiency of provisions for impoving of water quality in Macha's lake. Data estimation of economic value of chase in water quality in Macha's lake were acquired during on-site research in the area. Choice Experiment was used for modelling of recreational demand. The base of Choice Experiment is coming out from Lancaster's Attribution theory and Random utility function. Data presentation and its acquiring is a part of the diploma thesis, there is also discussed the new findings and the base of neoclassical methodology of Cost-Benefit Analysis that is suitable for judging of economic efficiency of provisions that help improving water quality in The Macha's lake. Macha's lake is a signifiant recreational area. While deciding about long term solution of the problem of water quality it is necessary to judge efficiency of invested ressources. Estimations of changes in water quality in Macha's lake is going to be used for Cost-Benefit Analysis. Cost-Benefit Analysis is based on measuring costs and benefits and their comparisons and this Analysis is main scope of the thesis.
Čipová karta jako elektronický identifikátor pojištěnce v ČR a EU.
Němcová, Eva ; Lešetický, Ondřej (advisor) ; Střítecký, Rudolf (referee)
This diploma work analytically examines data resources and conditions for the implementation of an electronic identifier for an insured person in the Czech Republic with relation to the Europian Union. Here compared in this work are the merits and disadvantages of the implementation or adversely the non-implementation of the electronic identifier via a cost-benetfit analysis that gives an answer to the economic question about the implementation of the project, and also describes the benefits for each group of beneficiaries.
