Restoration of the monastery in Šternberk
Sarvašová, Anna ; Kocourek, Tomáš (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor)
The subject of the diploma thesis was an architectural study of the restoration proposal of the Augustinian monastery Šternberk. The building is owned by the city, whose task is to create new functions and uses for the abbey. The city did not concretize the plans for the construction of the monastery, it was more about a vision of the future and the discovery of new possibilities. Based on the analysis of the existing domain, conclusions are drawn about the use of new functions. The abbey is centrally located and is operationally and structurally connected to the Roman Catholic Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. The monastery also has a garden, which is currently inaccessible and unused. The plan is to revitalize the garden and build an underground parking lot that will serve the monastery and the city. The garden will be open to the public and at the same time will allow access to another part of the city. Revival of the monastery and its gardens should make the location more attractive and attract people to the city. The goal of the proposal is to create a high-quality public environment in the historic core of Šternberk..

Underground culture – adaptation of an old brewery in Litovel
Shumlyanska, Karina ; Kolomazník, Jiří (referee) ; Koleček, Ivan (advisor)
Being able to be inside, tucked away, everyone focused on what they are interested in and enjoy, focused on work, learning, letting go of imagination and creating, or relaxing and enjoying sips of warm tea while listening to poetry. In two steps, appear outside, hear the bubbling water, smell the fresh air, smell the blossoming trees, admire the sight of art, create it and pass it on or have fun with friends at a social event. Two separate worlds linked into one unit functioning together and in harmony. With this proposal, I would like to achieve the connection of various communities and associations, individually very active in the Litovla area. I would also like to get elements of arts and crafts into the daily activities of the residents, such as work or, conversely, relaxation. No less important to me is reestablishing the relationship of residents with the outdoor environment and learning to be in it. Adaptation of the former brewery in Litovla, where the spirit of the place and the legacy of history were lost in the accumulation of layers. Revitalization of the area with the functions of culture, work, rest, creation and sales, with a connection to the organism of the city and the landscape line of the river with the newly created promenade.
Underground culture – adaptation of an old brewery in Litovel
Jansová, Alžběta ; Dvořáková, Alena (referee) ; Koleček, Ivan (advisor)
Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. The place combines old basements, a new extension, a blue river carrying a piece of nature and a borrowed genius loci that we do not see but feel inside us. There, the relationship of people with the place is renewed and a new cultural center of Litovel is formed. Reference to the past, being in the present and the view of the future are the basis for the adaptation of the former brewery. The underground is concentrated by layers of history - the Museum of Litovelské Pomoraví and Brewing - and the layers of the present - gallery and cafe. The extension is the center of cognition, development and work. And the tower stretching into the sky opens our eyes far into the landscape. There are places of relaxation, meditation and creation side by side.

The subject of the bachelor‘s thesis is the design of a possible solution for the adaptation of the former brewery in the city of Litovel. The building is currently dilapidated and the city is considering replacing it with a modern housing development. The goal of the design is therefore to find a suitable function and use for the underground cellars of the 200-year-old brewery, which would save the forgotten place and give it a new life. The project envisages the creation of a restaurant microbrewery and a creative center with coworking, thanks to which the area will become a center of culture and art. At the same time, the design also deal with the public space of the created square, the nearby residential block and the promenade along the river embankment.

On the border between tradition and new knowledge, history, and the present. Between the walls and the river, older and younger. Experience culture in a different way with friends and dance, or sit with a cup of coffee or beer and listen to live music. Try a traditional craft, create, and learn about the city and its surroundings in an unusual playful way. In an instant, find yourself behind the walls or in front of them and listen to the bubbling river, bask in the sun, and feel a sense of belonging with the outdoor environment. Sit under the colonnade and watch the happenings in the market or watch a cultural performance from the gallery. Between two worlds, between young people, between the center and the suburbs, in the same place, to form one meaningful unit. Establish a stronger relationship with the city and nature and have somewhere to have fun. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, you - young people are our wealth. The location is situated on the border of the old historical core behind the medieval walls and the new suburb behind the Morava River along Božena Němcová Street in Litovel. The work deals with the adaptation of the historical spaces of the former brewery cellars and the new superstructure above them, to restore impressive spaces in an interesting place for the public, especially in the field of alternative culture and education for young people. Spaces for the meeting of this intergenerational/intermediate stratum have not yet been found in Litovel, which causes an outflow of young people from the city. An integral part is the modification of the surrounding area with the waterfront and the addition of a pedestrian or cycling promenade along the Morava River. This way, I would like to help the city live up to its title of „Hanácké Venice“ and interconnect the place and its inhabitants with water. The work also deals with the material design of a new apartment building.

Litovel, or Moravian Venice - a town with rich history, that has its fate tied together with flowy branches of Morava River. A town, that has diverse opportunities and potential, town that is culturally rich, town full of unusual and surprising places. One of those surprising places is the underground complex of spaces originally belonging to an old brewery - seemingly condemned to be forgotten forever and replaced with a new housing complex. Is it possible to save this half-forgotten world of arches from its fate? Can we find a new solution for this blind spot on the border of historical center, that can both save the historical heritage and help the town fight with housing crisis? These are the questions the following project aims to answer. It mainly covers an architectural study of an adaptation of the underground cellar spaces and their younger second floor addition - the project also tries to reconnect them with the cultural life of the town. The project includes new public space design and conceptual solution for the brownfield around our site. The work also offers an alternative for the new housing complex which works better with its surroundings and pre-existing urban landscape.
