Consumption and Balance in the Age of Financial Globalization

This thesis is focused on study of global imbalances as they appear in these days. The deepening global financial imbalance as an impact of international capital flows is considered to be one of the most important. The study is also focused on other tendencies that could possibly endanger the future prosperity of the Euro-Atlantic civilization from the view of savings, consumption and problems with accumulation of capital regarding the demographic aging of the society. All these aspects are now more visible because of the financial, economic and on-going debt crisis. The situation looks unsustainable and needs changes that could be essential for avoiding a major decline of the Europian society in the view of the rest of the world.
Analysis of the consumption function in the Czech republic

Fiscal behavior of households in the Czech Republic

This thesis deals with the fiscal behavior of households within the Czech Republic. The main areas of interest are the appropriate management of personal or family finance and the importance of household budgeting. It shows that the awareness of ones income and expenses are the basis of a financial literacy, which is still at an insufficient level. Such households are thus regarded as a weaker market article, which have to be protected either by means of education, awareness raising or modifying legislation in their favor. Specific elements in the protection of clients are intertwined throughout the work. The thesis also deals with the relationship of Czech households to consumption, savings and debt. It records the specific period of changing attitudes to the way we deal with money and establishes that households that are no longer thrifty, consume more and loans become a common part of life for them. The thesis also concentrates on the most used financial products, specifying the reason for their popularity. Also, the consequences of poor household management are described and international comparisons are included as well.

Financial Balance of Households

The main task of this thesis deals with the financial balance of Czech households. The thesis monitors changes in the development of the debt burden of households, but it also pursue the development of their economies. The chosen period is the period from approximately 1997 to 2007 before the financial crisis and the period during the crisis in 2010. The aim of this paper is statistical analysis of data file Household budget survey in 2009. It focuses on the financial balance of households based on the difference between revenue and expenditure of households.
Global imbalances and their solutions in the context of the current crisis

This thesis deals with global imbalances in the world economy. Chapter one focuses on balance of payments theory, savings and investment. It also specifies global imbalances and presents the most important periods of their development. Chapter two analyses main causes of global imbalances and discusses the relationship between imbalances and current economic crisis. Chapter three describes current development of global imbalances, anticipated development in future and analyses possible solutions at national and international level.
