Design of a milling fixture for four-axis CNC trimming of composite parts
Hibš, Dominik ; Slaný, Martin (referee) ; Zouhar, Jan (advisor)
This thesis deals with the design of a milling fixture for trimming of folding propellers for the company Mejzlik Propellers s.r.o. Firstly, an adequate HAAS DM-2 machine and UniCut Dron milling tool were selected. The cutting force was then quantified at 9.2 N. Once the cutting force was established, the clamping surface could be designed and the clamping force set at 317.3 N. After considering several fixture options, the final design was selected. The selected design was used to program the CNC machine in Fusion 360. A technical and economic evaluation followed, when the total price of the product was 41,671 CZK and the cost of machine cutting one propeller was 32.60 CZK, while the cost of manual trimming was 29.10 CZK
Automated machining in CAM systems
Jelínek, Tomáš ; Sliwková, Petra (referee) ; Zouhar, Jan (advisor)
This thesis focuses on the possibilities of machining using CAM systems automation. For modeling components such as holders, clamps and sample parts was used software CATIA V5R20 by Dassault Systmes. These samples were subsequently used to demonstrate the automation capabilities in PowerMill Ultimate 2022 by Autodesk. The automation program is consists of created tool database, templates with machining strategy and developed macros. A technical and economic evaluation was performed by comparing programming times of the program with and without using of the created elements of automation.
Design of a device for profiles painting on a pultrusion line
Krejčí, Miloš ; Slaný, Martin (referee) ; Zouhar, Jan (advisor)
Surface treatments of composite materials represent a specific issue in terms of the design of automatic painting equipment. The surface treatment modules were designed to be integrated into an existing pultrusion line, with an emphasis on maintaining the ergonomics of the workplace and adhering to space requirements. The selection of a suitable paint was first made from the coatings available on the market, then continued through collaboration with the manufacturer. The collaboration led to the development of a powdered, thermally curable formulation and a liquid, UV curable formulation. After adhesion tests, an optimised version of the UV formulation was selected. The design of the coating equipment is based on the requirements specific to the selected UV curable formulation. It consists of technologies for UV surface pretreatment, paint application and UV curing of the coating. The surface pretreatment is based on the experience of the supplier of the application technologies and own experiments. Coating application uses spray guns, again selected on the basis of testing in production. Curing of the coating is provided by a set of UV emitters with adjustable output power. Cost savings due to automation of the process and elimination of human labour are insignificant under current conditions due to the high price of the selected coating material. If the predicted production volumes are achieved, the savings can reach up to 10-12 CZK per linear metre of profile.
Manufacturing of thermoplastic composites
Makariv, Štefan ; Gregor, Lukáš (referee) ; Zouhar, Jan (advisor)
This thesis investigates the mechanical properties and application possibilities for use in the manufacture of functional parts of Endumax Shield XF33 and Twaron CT 747 TH110 thermoplastic composite materials intended for ballistic applications. To investigate the properties of the materials, it was necessary to design and fabricate a prototype pressing jig with a heating and cooling system for the production of composite material samples by the hot-pressing method. The steps during the design of the pressing jig and the subsequent production of the samples were described. The specimens were subjected to mechanical tensile and flexural tests. The results of the mechanical tests were compared with those of the autoclave produced Twaron CT 747 ER68 reactoplastic composite material and with the results of investigations of materials with similar compositions. The evaluation of the properties showed that the investigated thermoplastic composite materials do not have the properties for use in the manufacture of functional parts. The process conditions may have influenced the properties. Further technical work was recommended to investigate the process conditions in detail.
Manufacturing of composite for ballistic purposes
Majchrák, Aleš ; Gregor, Lukáš (referee) ; Zouhar, Jan (advisor)
The master thesis deals with high-strength fiber composites with a focus on their use in ballistic protection. It’s aim is to manufacture of composite panels and to test their properties. The theoretical part discusses the fiber composites area and ballistic protection. The experimental part consists of the choice of the suitable technologies for the production of the panels of the given materials, the production process itself, the preparation of the samples and their testing. Materials used for production were Twaron from aramides group and Endumax from the UHMWPE group of materials. Panels had three different matrices – epoxide resine, thermoset matrix and thermoplastic matrix. Manufacturing methods consisted of vacuum infusion, hot press and autoclave. Tensile and bending tests were examined, so as ballistic tests on the Taylor anvil test device and in ballistic laboratory. The results confirmed the high strenght of the material and its ability to absorb kinetic energy. During ballistic tests, the amount of material resistence against the ballistic impact was observed with regard to the NIJ 0101.06 standard and the limit thickness within tested samples was defined.
Design of composite prosthetic appliances production technology
Magula, Martin ; Slaný, Martin (referee) ; Zouhar, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of manufacturing a composite prosthetic arm. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the research of basic composite materials and technologies for the production of prosthetic devices. The second part of the thesis is focused on the practical manufacturing, where from the scanning of a previously made prosthesis we obtain a model. Following this part, a part of the arm will be fabricated and subjected to material testing.
A proposal of production technology of a specified component
Janíček, Adam ; Zouhar, Jan (referee) ; Sliwková, Petra (advisor)
This bachelor thesis fosus on machining the parts from worse workable material, exactly stainless steel 1.4404, when the machined component will be the axis of the three-way valve used in food industry. The introduction of my thesis contains of theoretical information about technologies used in components production, continues with an option of machines and tools suitable for fabrication of this component, following with practical part containing the production of manufacturing process, manual, calculation of cutting conditions, production of the component on CNC machines itself, and the last part is complex control of the fabricated component.
Production of composite materials using vacuum infusion
Ciran, Adam ; Gregor, Lukáš (referee) ; Zouhar, Jan (advisor)
The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis deals with the definition of composite material, then the division of the most used fabric reinforcements and matrices, with a focus on reinforcements made of glass and carbon fiber and flax fiber. It then discusses vacuum infusion techniques, their description and applications. In the practical part, emphasis is placed on the fabrication of specimens using vacuum infusion technology of carbon fiber, glass fiber and flax using an epoxy matrix. The last part is the evaluation of the fabricated samples.
Application of a reusable vacuum membrane for production of fiber reinforced plastics
Talavášek, Václav ; Zouhar, Jan (referee) ; Gregor, Lukáš (advisor)
The thesis focuses on the manufacturing process of the composites with fiber reinforcement and polymer matrix. The theoretical part contains a description of conventional manufacturing processes. The experimental part of the thesis was based on the design modification of an old convention mold. The aim was to make design changes for the usage of a vacuum membrane. On the mold were made several tests. The goal was to find out the design faults of the mold. The next chapter focuses on the economic comparison of the conventional process and the reusable vacuum membrane process. The last chapter focuses on the design of a new mold, which is going to be utilized for mass production.
