Reentry CubeSat
Kopecký, Matěj ; Daněk, Vladimír (referee) ; Zikmund, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis deals with the analysis of the re-entry of the miniature CubeSat satellite from lower orbit. In the opening section, it is explained how re-entry process works, what bodies are typically used and the possibilities for protecting them from atmospheric resistance. The thesis is also focused on the mentioned group of CubeSat satellites and defines them according to general requirements. Using the knowledge learned from the opening section, a theoretical introduction to the preliminary analysis of the re-entry of the CubeSat satellite was put together, followed by a sample calculation. Here, it is explained how the CubeSat moves as it descends throughout the atmosphere and what parameters it needs to meet in order to make the re-entry.
Space mission design
Koziel, David ; Navrátil, Jan (referee) ; Zikmund, Pavel (advisor)
In this work, there are basic laws and knowledge relating to space flights into an orbit around the Earth. Also, there are instructions for beginners, who want to work with the GMAT program (General Mission Analysis Tool), which is the program used for designing space missions. In the final part of the work, there is also a use of the program demonstrated on a specific mission of a satellite (CubeSat) into the Geostationary Earth Orbit. In this section, there is a described method of work, individual relevant functions of the program and possibilities, and a way of work in it. Finally, graphical and data outputs of the simulation are evaluated. Therefore, the output of the work is complex characteristics of the basics of problems of space mission design and a brief GMAT software guide, which could be used in the future to teach.
Design of Formula Student front wing elements
Havran, Edmund ; Zikmund, Pavel (referee) ; Popela, Robert (advisor)
The main objective of this thesis is the design of a new front wing for the Formula Student competition. The beginning of the thesis deals with competition rules, significance of front wings and their usage in the competition. A new conceptual design of the front wing follows, concluded by its CFD optimisation in Ansys Fluent software. Some of the computations were done on computational resources supplied by the project „e-Infrastruktura CZ“ (e-INFRA LM2018140) provided within the program Projects of Large Research, Development and Innovations Infrastructures. Computational resources were provided by the ELIXIR-CZ project (LM2015047), part of the international ELIXIR infrastructure.
Haptic feedback device design for aircraft control
Dubnický, Lukáš ; Jebáček, Ivo (referee) ; Zikmund, Pavel (advisor)
This master thesis is focused on design of control stick grip and rudder pedals extension. These components are equipped with active elements, which provide pilot with haptic feedback. The purpose of the introduced design is to allow prototype to be built into the aeroplane so that the proposed concept of haptic feedback can be tested onboard. It shall verify used technical solutions as well to allow for their application on following development stages that aim at certification of the proposed haptic feedback system to be used in general aviation aeroplanes. The designed components are the successors of prototypes used for experiments carried on flight simulator. The design process follows the requirements of legislation and outcomes of the previous experiments. This thesis follows the design process from setting of the design requirements to mechanical test of 3D printed prototypes.
Preliminary aerodynamic analysis of remotely controlled model with jet propulsion
Novák, Ondřej ; Zikmund, Pavel (referee) ; Popela, Robert (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis deals with aerodynamic analysis of unmanned aircraft and subsequent changes to design of wing, its position and wing-fuselage junction. In this work emphasis is laid on flow separation, its interaction with other flow structures and its influence on aerodynamic properties. The goal of these changes to the aircraft is ensuring sufficient stability and controllability in low as well as high angle of attack flight. AVL, XFLR5 and CFD methods were used in the thesis. In case of inaccuracy of CFD calculation, two backup wing related modifications were prepared.
Angle of attack measurement system
Koribský, Denis ; Bartoněk, Jaroslav (referee) ; Zikmund, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to finish a system for measuring angle of attack and angle of sideslip during the flight. The system is based on two wind vanes that measure angle of attack by using a rotary magnetic encoder. The individual components were connected to Arduino and the program was adapted to these components by using software Arduino IDE. Measured data of the vane angle were after that saved on the SD card. After the system was assembled the vanes were calibrated by using the geometric template. Data of calibration were interpolated with trendline to get the function for calculation of real angle of attack.
Vibration feedbacks in pilot-aircraft haptic interaction
Malalan, Nina ; Zikmund, Pavel
A research about different ways of encoding the distance information with vibrotactile feedback was done as part of a bigger project with the aim of designing a device which would help the pilot to achieve greater precision during the flight. Different kinds of stall warning devices and structural additions were already designed in the field of aviation, lingering only over attentional guidance. Therefore, a lack of spatial and movement guidance was detected. This paper lingers on this research which aimed to encode and evaluate haptic guiding methods.
Overview of current spaceships
Špačková, Jana ; Daněk, Vladimír (referee) ; Zikmund, Pavel (advisor)
Target of this work is to create an overview of commonly used and in this time developed transports used for carrying payload to space and comparing these transportation means. First part of the work is divided into three sections, rockets reaching the Earth’s orbit, rockets flying bellow it and other means of space transport. These sections are further sorted by states and its stage of development they are currently in. Second part of the work is focused on comparing previously described transports from the perspective of safety, power and also costs needed for running and manufacturing them. In the end there are results from the comparing section of this work and comments on the probable path of the near future development of the space transportation.
Science missions of spacecraft in our Solar System and beyond
Černoch, Jakub ; Zikmund, Pavel (referee) ; Mašek, Jakub (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is aimed on the space probe missions, that landed on objects in our Solar system. First part of this thesis is aimed on the missions that were proposed by one of the many space research agencies. Second part of this thesis is aimed on proposal of mission and basic parameters of hopper that should be able to relocate himself on the surface of planet Mars and carry out there, the scientific research. The hopper will use hybrid rocket engines.
Conceptual design of training aircraft with electric propulsion
Seman, Matúš ; Zikmund, Pavel (referee) ; Hlinka, Jiří (advisor)
This thesis is focused on conceptual design of electric powered training aircraft, using certification guidelines CS-LSA. Designing process of geometrical and aerodynamic characteristics is primary based on statistics of certificated aircrafts in this particular category. The following calculation of performance stabilities and flight performances is based on knowledge of aerodynamic polar. The calculation of the polar is also part of this thesis. The last part of the thesis consists of construction design of the front part of fuselage and engine static structural analysis of engine mounts.
