The role of p130Cas substrate domain mediated signaling in cancer cell migration, invasiveness and metastasis of cancer cells
Zemanová, Kateřina ; Brábek, Jan (advisor) ; Čáslavský, Josef (referee)
p130Cas (Crk-associated substrate) was first described over 30 years ago as a protein that associates with the v-src and v-crk oncoproteins and undergoes tyrosine phosphorylation. Proteins of the CAS family are an important part of cellular biological processes in normal and pathological situations. The existence of 15 YXXP repetitive motifs is characteristics for substrate domain. p130Cas is an adapter protein that allows interactions between proteins that lead to assembly of multiprotein complexes. The p130Cas protein regulates these multiprotein complexes, which further drive chemotaxis, apoptosis, differentiation and migration. Overproduction of CAS proteins was found in connection with a poor prognosis and an increased incidence of metastases. Also, the elevated expression of proteins of the CAS family is related to resistance to some types of chemotherapeutics.
Modes of termination of employment

The methods of terminating employment Abstract This diploma thesis primarily purports to describe and summarize individual methods of terminating employment in the Czech Republic with an emphasis on legal acts leading to and resulting in employment termination. As a result, this thesis includes applicable case law of the Czech Supreme Court. I further focused on recently adopted Act No. 365/2011 Coll., which amends the Labour Code, and the resulting changes impacting the area of employment termination. The primary sources I applied to this thesis include Act No. 262/2006 Coll. the Labour Code, applicable rulings (case law) by the Czech Supreme Court, and specialized literature, including articles in legal magazines. This diploma thesis consists of three main chapters. The first chapter is a glossary of basic terms and expressions relative to employment termination. The second chapter is the key chapter and deals with legal acts to be taken to terminate employment. The first section of the first chapter describes an employment termination agreement, including the related requirements and a review of applicable law. The second section deals with employment termination notices, including the related requirements, the notice period, grounds for notice, and protection against being served a notice. I also pay...
Contemporary Social Photography
Zemanová, Kateřina ; Géla, František (advisor) ; Silverio, Robert (referee)
This thesis focuses on personal lives of the 'Nový Prostor' Magazine sellers. The practical part of the thesis examines sellers' personal space, private activities, everyday concerns and the sellers' whereabouts. The thesis illuminates their individual stories and aspires to fight against social stereotypes about people who have lost their homes. The theoretical part of the thesis provides a definition of 'social documentary photography' and analyses methodological approaches to 'documentary photography' with special focus on communication with the photographed object.

School support for pupils suffering from the loss of relatives
Zemanová, Kateřina ; Machovcová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Kučírek, Jiří (referee)
This diploma thesis is dealing with the methods teachers and school psychologist may use to approach their pupils who have been affected by the death of their relative, particularly a family member. The theoretical part of the thesis is focusing on the existing research in the area of mourning of school-age children and pays special attention to the risks connected with insensitive approach of teachers in this matter. The thesis tries to introduce some principles of the teacher's sensitive approach during the lessons, while paying extra attention to the personal and moral development of the individual in the area of their perception of surroundings, specifically during Civic Education and Health Education. The next topic in the theoretical part is the cognitive development of pupils and their view on the death itself in general, as it is a part of life that we have to somehow prepare for and thus need to have some kind of knowledge about the difficulties that come with death. The empirical part consists mainly of individual interviews with teachers and one school psychologist. As for the part of the interviews, analysis of study materials was included in which both their advantages and possible risks were considered. The aim of this thesis is mainly to formulate principles of the sensitive...
Study of expression of glutathione peroxidases in mice with induced obesity
Zemanová, Kateřina ; Matoušková, Petra (advisor) ; Skálová, Lenka (referee)
Charles University, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Biochemical Sciences Candidate: Bc. Kateřina Zemanová Supervisor: Ing. Petra Matoušková, PhD. Title of thesis: Study of expression of glutathione peroxidases in mice with induced obesity Obesity is serious worldwide health issue. The most common reason for developing obesity is unbalanced intake and energy expenditure. It is connected to a higher amount of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in organism, which increases the risk of developing health issues related to obesity. Between these issues are belonging mainly cardiovascular diseases, metabolic syndrome or type two diabetes mellitus. The goals of many studies focusing on obesity are identification of new biomarkers, searching for target structures for obesity treatment and potentially developing antiobesity drugs. Glutathione peroxidases (GPxs) are enzymes with antioxidation activity. Currently, there are eight GPxs described. They can reduce the amount of reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced in our body. The GPxs can cause damage to the surrounding tissues in case of their accumulation and they are related to many diseases. Based on these findings, efforts have been made to discover how the expression of GPxs genes is regulated and how they are connected to microRNA...
Point of view on today´s world according to Peter Singer.
ZEMANOVÁ, Kateřina
The aim of the thesis is to provide a complex picture of the contemporary world in the context of Peter Singer's ethics. In the introductiory chapters we will analyse the main philosophy of Peter Singer's works, namely The Animal Liberation, Practical Ethics, Applied Ethics, Writings on an Ethical Life, One World: Ethics and Globalization. On these examples we are trying to prove that this author and his theories are frequently missunderstood by the general public. During the analyses we will consider the general model of moral and ethical values of the society and put them in the context of Singer's philosophy. We will also include the detailed analyses of the spiecism which is a crucial topic for all Singer's works as well as for this thesis. Except this issue, we will also include a detailed analyses of the moral and ethical values and how they have been viewed in different historical periods by different influention philosophers.
