Impacts of China's development aid and investment in Africa, focusing on Ethiopia and the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2000-2015
Leová, Leona ; Procházka, Pavel (advisor) ; Zeman, Martin (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with development aid in general, presents its definition and analyzes in particular the development of various attitudes that were previously discussed. This theoretical background is an essential part of finding more effective approaches, as it can generally be said that the Western assistance to date has failed to do so. The work is thus further dealt with by other development cooperation alternatives that could be capable of 'the poorest' billion out of poverty. The second part then deals exclusively with the role of China in Africa, first attempts to map out the activities it deals with, and acquaintances with forms of cooperation that are different from those with other countries in the past. It represents the type of cooperation on which the most valuable investments of this bilateral aid are built, which are projects for the construction of transport and energy infrastructures in exchange for access to African natural resources, especially oil. In addition, the work focuses on the characteristics of the current socio-economic situation of Ethiopia and the Democratic Republic of Congo and evaluates the development of the most important economic and social indicators such as GDP and HDI. It finds that these variables generally record growth and improvement, which is not so significant in the social sphere, indicators that are more tangible about the quality of life of the people in these countries. In general, the work comes to the conclusion that China's presence in Africa is largely positive, as China, as a country with experience of transformation from a backward country into the world's second largest economy, has chosen a different approach to cooperation with the Third World, Exploiting their comparative advantage, which is the presence of mineral wealth and cheap labor, in exchange for what they are acutely needed - the development of transport and energy infrastructure.
Australská imigrační politika jako inspirace pro Evropskou unii v době migrační krize?
Šimák, Radim ; Ševčíková, Michaela (advisor) ; Zeman, Martin (referee)
This thesis compares different immigration policies of countries in the European Union on selected sample of countries: Germany, Belgium, Sweden, Italy, Czech Republic and Australia. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the basic concepts related to migration, such as the theory and methodology of migration. The theoretical part also presents the common immigration, asylum and visa policy of the European Union and its historical development. In conclusion, the thesis argues that the European Union may, in some aspects of the migration crisis, be inspired by the Australian approach to migration. The aim was to evaluate different approaches and consequent impacts. The impact on economics indicators suggests that using the Australian model would achieve better employment and a lesser burden on public budgets. Based on these findings, the thesis then presents recommendations and proposals for solution.

The work focuses on the influence of an inflow of immigrants from non-European union countries from 2011 to 2015. There are basic terms of migration characterised in the theoretical part, its typology and the theories of migration. Furthermore, the historical development of migration in Italy is shown. The position of immigrants in a labour market is solved in the other part. The thesis focuses on the integration of immigrants in education or housing. The proposed changes of immigration policy and several scenarios of future development are also listed in the last part of this thesis. The work has proved that there have been changes in immigration policy after the Arabic spring. The state is trying to adapt the immigration policy by reinforcing immigration inflows. Increasing influx of immigrants influences the foreign population that increases population and creates more varied national composition. Since 2011, the Italian government has been making legislative changes in the immigration policy. For instance, by concluding an integration agreement which makes the immigrant integration to the Italian society easier. The first benefit of the work is writing my own recommendations for immigration and integration policy which can improve the situation in the country. The second benefit is a presentation of several scenarios of future development of migration policy of Italy but also for the whole European union.
Analysis of the pension system and its comparison between the Czech Republic and other Visegrad Group countries in the period 2004 - 2016
Kissová, Adriana ; Zeman, Martin (advisor) ; Křeček, Štěpán (referee)
Countries of the Visegrad Group implemented a number of parametric and systemic reforms of pension systems between 2004 and 2016. The second pillar of the pension system was abolished in 2016 in the Czech Republic and remaining second pillars were considerably reduced. Not only for these reforms are pension pillars different in these countries. The aim of this thesis is to analyse pension systems of the Visegrad Group countries and to compare the differences between replacement rates by country. The comparison shows that replacement rates are different across selected countries. As the wage increases, the net replacement rate is decreasing for Czech, Slovak and Polish citizens. In the case of Hungary, this claim is not valid. The lowest replacement rates of above-average wages are in the Czech Republic, so it is desirable to support alternative ways of supplementary retirement savings. Based on the findings of the thesis economic and political recommendations are proposed for political elites of these nations.
